    I had a dream, and at the end of the dream I heard a horn, it was sputtering, then a long sound. Watching this I know the second sound was tekiah. I need help to understand. Always praying.

    I know that the sound of the shofar varies from company to company. I would like to know what brand this shofar is. The sound is so beautiful.

      Our shofar blower is using a larger horn of a kudu (African antelope). They are all hand made, and no brands in particular, but here is a source to buy that style of shofar: www.judaicawebstore.com/46--48-extra-large-yemenite-kudu-shofar---half-polished?queryID=2cc30338f9ef4aa1e5b66336d82afd54&objectID=123646&indexName=productiondefault_products

      Our shofar is smaller. The date on it would 1854 in the Gregorian calendar. It came with family from Europe. One day i will pass it on to the eldest.

      Thanks for the question, Omerta. Temple Israel in West Bloomfield is a Reform Jewish synagogue. For more info on this mainstream denomination you can look here: reformjudaism.org/

    What time is the shofar blown on Rosh Hashanah?

    • @TempleIsraelMI
      @TempleIsraelMI  Год назад +1

      Traditionally after the Torah service as well as through Musaf. So around 11:30-1:00 depending on when the service starts. At Temple Israel we include in each Rosh Hashanah service.
      BTW, traditionally it is not blown on Rosh Hashanah if it is Shabbat, which occurs this year.

    you can really see here how the reform movement copied the order and formality of the protestant observance in germany and hungary in the 1840s...but in USA, honestly, it leaves me cold. orthodox is the shul i dont go to, but if i go, i want hamish, not suburban american.
    not meant as criticism, just an observation. to me, reform jews are always better than the non affiliated who feel very little or no connection to the jewish people and our ancient homeland Israel...so you have my respect, i mean it...i guess its aesthetics for me...
