Big Lew - I watch your Turkey videos every year before Thanksgiving to make sure I’m doing things the right way. Love your positive energy - wish more people were like you! Hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving. A video of the Turkey you make that day would be awesome - the Big Lew Turkey of year!
I’m usually at my Dad’s house, then I head to my Mom’s and then my in-laws (former in-laws my wife has passed away). I’m usually too busy for a video on the actual holiday. However, I will try to this year. Thank you so much for your support.
Hello big Lew! It's been many years since I've had a fried turkey and yes I agree, they are fantastic. The two you made looked absolutely delicious. Keep up the great work my friend. 👍
The lady I’m seeing, known here as “Chef Bridges” lost her husband in 2021. We are just a widower and widow in our early fifties, trying to make the best out of the loneliness. We are getting along well so far. Thanks man.
Hi Big Lew. I enjoy watching your videos. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the park style steel grill? You know the ones, you see them in all the state parks.
Believe it or now I've never had a good deep fried turkey. However, I've never made one. Only had it that others made and they ALWAYS over cook it! They need to see this video on HOW to do it right Big Lew! Now I want to get one just so I can deep fry it myself and see! Awesome instructions!😋👍
Nothing to it but to do it. You common sense. There are a lot of over precautious videos out there on frying safety. I think these have the opposite effect, by frightening people away from trying to fry. Yes it can be dangerous, but so is driving a car. No need to rig up elaborate pulley systems and scaffolding like Alton Brown did.

How long does it typically take to get the oil up to temp? Frying my first turkey today and trying to make sure to account for that as well. Great video! I'm feeling a lot more confident now.
Thanks so much for the reply! The only mention I found online said an hour or more. 30 minutes is much more reasonable. Thank you again for answering and Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks again for this video and the tips. The turkey was a huge hit! Do you have any tips on cleaning the oil to reuse it? Mines still in the pot covered outside waiting until after work today.
@@markabee3154 because steam must escape. The turkey has moisture, water that evaporates while it cooks. If you put a lid one it the moisture will condensate on the inside of the lid, then you would have water dripping in to the hot frying oil. NOT GOOD!

How long was it in the fryer?
@@johnellisonarmadilloconstr7966 three and a half minutes per pound. So a fifteen pounder should take about fifty-three minutes.
