    I dunno, but I think a lot of the characteristics you guys are comparing between the 2JZ and small blocks also comes from the type of gearing you'll usually see in domestics. Fact remains that the 2JZ is pretty incredible considering it's an i-6 and the "factory block" is capable of handling so much.

      RiSkiSS 17 For real though. I mean think about it. A AWD R34 with half that power would probably do 0-60 in a second less, and probably a 0-100 equally fast. Obviously this car has a way higher top speed and can continue to accelerate hard in a high gear, but only after the transmission has handled all the power that the insufficient tires cannot whatsoever. Don't get me wrong anybody, I love the fuck out of supras, especially this one though. But it really needs better traction. Too bad these don't come AWD ;)

      @@Vrtuned You caused me to question myself but just watched it again multiple times. It is 100% 5th gear. 4th is short and he has a tad bit of wheel spin at the top and gets it into 5th at about 115 mph, gets full traction and then shifts into 6th at 150 mph. You can also work backwards... he certainly isn't still in 5th with another gear to go when he finally pulls off the throttle at 170+ mph, that is the 6th and final gear.

    Yes, but its because of the G forces on the Fuel . All the fuel is being forced to the back of the tank. You can see it start to go back up toward the end of the video, were the acceleration slows due to being in top gear.

  • @EveKitty08
    @EveKitty08 11 лет назад

    Notice that when he slows down it goes back up a bit. This is because all of the gasoline gets pushed to the back of the fuel tank when accelerating. I've noticed my fuel tank go down in my car when parked on a hill, I imagine this is the same effect.

    Anyway, my first car was kinda cool. In 1973 it was a six cylinder OHC Pontiac, 1967. Since then have owned 3 more Pontiacs, 2 Chevys, 1 Olds, 1 GMC, 1 Ford, 2 VW's and 17 International light trucks (yes, 17)
    The Buick was a '66 Special with a warmed-over 327 out of a '66 Impala. This was 1975/76. They call them "Pro-Street" now. Except the 12 bolt 4:56 wasn't narrowed and tubbed.
    Sorry if I ramble, but I dig talking cars as long as it isn't rice.
    I just say "Datsun" as a generalization.

    I was so fond of my first car, the OHC Tempest, that just a few months ago I joined the Overhead Cammers Chapter of the Pontiac-Oakland Club.
    I own an anemic 140hp '96 Grand Prix today.
    Haven't owned the OHC Tempest for over 38 years but dug it.
    Ditched the bench seat for Mustang buckets. That's all I did to it other than pay a store to cut 4 holes in it for a stereo (speakers).
    Was only making $300 a month (Army) so mods were limited.
    Wheels/tires would have been nice.

      Bugattis are a commercial production vehicle capable of reaching 288mph+, not to mention the build quality of the car, and also reliability. This Supra would need constant maintenance with 1100hp and not to mention, it is WAY more difficult to get from 180-280mph, takes WAY more power + better aerodynamics.

    the first car I actually bought (the chevette was free, plus 'road worthy' repairs) was a 1996 thunderbird 4.6(could get sideways for days), and then a 2001 bmw 3 series which i knew little about bmw until owning that car and I completely fell in love with the bmw straight 6. My current daily is a little geo prizm (toyota corolla), but that's just a gas saver until i can get a second, or even a third!) chevette. I just absolutely love those t-bodies hatchbacks from the 70's-80's

    What's the most impresive is how easy it goes from 90 to 160mph... the speedo just climbs up no problems at all....

    People at drag strips usually only put enough gas to finish their run as Patrick said, helps with acceleration. Removing weight anywhere in the car adds up in lbs.

    not sure if you've noticed, but fuel guages move slowly. ever put fuel in a car? (i'm sure you have) you will notice it takes a long time for the fuel guage to come back up after filling. it's the same thing with acceleration. the sensor isn't an instant reading.

    its because of the acceleration,the fuel in the tank goes at the rear side of the tank so the needle shows wrong fuel level :)

  • @joegreen6473
    @joegreen6473 11 лет назад

    Looks like the gauge went back up at the end. I think the G-forces shifted the fuel letting the float in the gas tank go down resulting in the fuel gauge to drop.

    Thinking about it, 1000+Hp and it drains slowly when your even going full throttle, and the size of the tank isn't probably that big... So its an economically approved....
    At least better than some 100hp that drains gas like its water. Compared to that you got 10X the power! Neet!
