- Henryk Wieniawski's (1835-1880) "Polonaise brillante No. 1 in D Major, Op. 4," a work that combines his exceptional violin technique and compositional talent, was composed together with No. 2 when he was only in his teens. This piece combines the traditional dance rhythms of the Polonaise with the brilliant virtuosity of the violin, and has been a favorite of many violinists.
This particularly gorgeous No. 2 begins with a powerful theme that bursts forth with large jumps, and contains many colorful passages that test the control of the bow and the agility of the left hand, demanding a high level of technique and expressiveness from the violinist. Wow ! It sounds like a complicated and difficult piece to play, especially the left hand ? The piece gives people a very mixed interchange feeling as it moves along quickly, a very unique piece. This is the first time I heard this piece. Eimi ! Thanks for introducing this one. Love your performance, must be hard for your left hand, if not the right hand more ! Your dress is elegant, and you look beautiful.

You are right, it is indeed a challenging piece, with intricate passages that require a lot of precision, especially in the left hand. In addition, there are some passages, such as the one bow slur staccato, that are actually difficult to control in the right hand as well. You can enjoy the show with your eyes as well, which is probably the best part of Virtuoso piece!

So very nice! It was fun to watch the deft transition from double stops to pizz - and that brilliant finale.
You look quite concentrated now and then, but with a little smile when you know how well it is going.
Those are some challenging intervals.
Your instrument sounds very nice high on the G string.
The tempo was perfect.
This is a piece that has every challenge in the book, but with a wonderful tune.
Your pile of music will soon be high enough to sit on if you still use that archaic printed stuff.

Your observation about the concentration and occasional smiles is spot on; it's maybe a reflection of the deep focus and the small moments of satisfaction when everything flows just right. I appreciate your comments on the challenging intervals and the sound quality on the G string; it's wonderful to know that these details resonate with listeners. Maintaining the tempo and capturing the essence of the piece, with all its intricacies, is indeed a delightful challenge to me.
As for the printed music, there's something timeless about the tactile experience of sheet music.
A lot of things are packed into sheet music. It is a message from the composer, which is of course a great gift to us.
And it is also a joyful time for me to reflect on my own short impressions of the moment written in the score.
And I have no doubt that the advice I have received from various teachers since I was a child, written in music scores, are my treasures and have been a source of support for my playing and spirituality when I am not sure what to do. I would like to believe that I am growing as a musician as my stack of scores grows higher. In case you are wondering, I now use electronic sheet music!

When I first saw a tablet, I immediately thought of the application for music. So many issues could be addressed so easily: no need for stand lights.
Cuts or other editing could be effortless instead of scribbling and erasures, page turns could be effortless and arranged at suitable locations, outdoor performances would no longer fight wind, page and note size could be adjusted for easy viewing and hard-to-read manuscript could be replaced, not to mention the effortless distribution of parts.
It took a while.
Now, if only the playing part were so simple!
Just think: you can use pieces of wood that are hundreds of years old, play music that is equally old, and add some of the most sophisticated technology ever known - and then, take that mix to a natural setting that adds another dimension.
As I marvel at our climate-controlled halls, exotic materials like carbon fiber for bows (and instruments), electric options, amplification and recording marvels and so much more, it makes me quite appreciative of someone like Kreisler who sailed on ships, slept on trains and used gut strings in all kinds of temperature and humidity, yet played and wrote amazingly.
If the film industry in Hollywood hadn't evolved as it did, would we have had a Korngold or so many others?

It is the same with musical instruments, we musicians are still using violins and bows that are hundreds of years old because we are fascinated by their sound.
