    My only Day Out with Thomas event was when TATMR was released. It was really cool to see Thomas and Lady pulling the train, even though it was just a new engine taking the place of Puffing Billy, the steam train in Belgrave, Victoria, Australia
    I would have loved to have been there, it looked amazing!

      Yeah, it honestly isn’t. Denver & Rio Grande Western 491 was originally built as a standard gauge 2-8-0 “Consolidation” by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1902, then in 1930 it was converted into a narrow gauge K-37 class 2-8-2 “Mikado”.

    I went to a Day Out with Thomas event in the Isle of Wight in 2008. (I was 8 years old and still loved Thomas, cause of my autism) I don't remember it very well. I remember going on the Thomas Train Ride, and they did have a play area, which is where I was mostly. I think they should add the amatronic CGI face on the Thomas replicas in the UK.

    Wow Keekre! Truly Remarkable Experience! Really enjoyed this documentary so to speak... I took my sons to the Day out With Thomas event many years back. Sad to say Thomas didn't have that newly seen CGI face - as I was greeted to the same Ugly looking monster **Thomas** of old! I totally agree with your comment about "This being a great place to sell the specialty store merchandise", as Mattel is really missing out on a great opportunity! This was a really nice video! Totally unexpected! Keep up the incredible work as always!

    when day out with Thomas came out on tracks for the first time i decided to go because "eh, why not..getting nostalgia going again" so i went there and walked around for a bit and they're was a showing of the toys, when i overheard the guy talking and seeing the sets and the first thing going though my mind is"oh god, i have those original metal thomas train sets" i fastly walked away and got on the ride, (this is when Thomas had the "clay face") it was nice i guess, every thomas fan of the "old era" was having a fangirl moment when he started moving so that was funny to watch.. as the years rolled by i saw improvements and more kids showing up at these events, every so often i would see more of the "old era" fans show up so at-least i know that the love for trains still live on~

      It might’ve been too far away for him to get to. I could be wrong, but it would still be a good idea because in their gift shops instead of just all Wooden Railway stuff that was made by Mattel, there’s a few Learning Curve and Tomy products there. I know that because I was there last year and many years before that.

I haven't been to DOWT at Tweetsie since 2009, so i haven't seen the new faces up close. They definitely should think of selling the specialty sets and other exclusives at these events or even at Thomas Land in Edaville.

    • @ThomasWoodenRailway

      Colorado is a very beautiful place if I may say so myself. I'm not a train person so all of the information about 491 in this video came from a very nice conductor. He told me almost everything about the locomotive during the train ride. It was a great experience to say the least! :)

    • @radforddivisionrailfan
      @radforddivisionrailfan 8 лет назад

      That is a completely easy way to get train info. It's how I got so much info about the Dollywood and Tweetsie engines. Actually, 491's twin, 497, could be fired back up sometime at the Cumbres and Toltec in Antonito, and the Durango and Silverton line has a great number of D&RGW engines. I hope to visit these three and a railway with a similar engine to a certain "Mountain Engine"

    At least a steam engine is pushing Thomas for the sounds! I don't see why they couldn't take the narrow Gauge Thomas to the other Narrow gauge excursion lines in Colorado, other than licensing. The whistle is still unrealistic, though. I can't tell if his running board is white or blue at 6:57. i haven't seen Take N Plays for sale at DOWT since Mattel took over Take Along.

    This is amazing, I remember when you used to be that kid that was playing in your room pushing the trains around with that "lovely" sound in the background . Now you have expanded enormously and that's awesome. Now I'm not saying I'm the "big hit" because I'm not (40 subscribers) but I'm just glad to see these videos. I remember you had your series, reviews, and the odd movie and remake. I'm so blown away now that you have these amazing videos, like Oliver's Eleven, Henry's Handcar Havoc BTS and now this! I have not been here since I was little when they still had the "non dummy" Thomas with the "face." This video brought back so many memories and I'm so glad you did this! Keep up the good work Keekre!

    By 74 foot turntable, do you mean 37 foot radius or 148 foot diameter?

    • @ThomasWoodenRailway
      @ThomasWoodenRailway  8 лет назад

      I really don't know. Judging by the video, I'm guessing it was a 37 foot radius (74 feet in total).

    I think that was a Lionel Thomas, but I don't collect G scale so don't quote me on it. :P
    Anyway, it was cool to see footage of what these events are like now. I haven't been to one since I was less than 8. The Colorado Railroad Museum certainly seems like a neat place to visit, too. I'd imagine you had a very good time.
    (Also, is this the first video we've gotten from you that doesn't show your layout or collection?)
