A few years ago, my family climbed into a van in Ft. Lauderdale to go to a cruise ship in Miami. When the driver told me his name was Howard, my daughter immediately texted me from the back seat about this song. Within minutes we had confirmed it was the same, Howard. Your description was spot on. He didn't know that he was in a song. We played it for him. He loved it. She took a picture with him and posted it and tagged you. You liked the picture. She screamed. Made her day!

Oh man. This hits entirely too close to home.
Howard is, in essence, my father. Worked hard to earn ends meet from childhood. Up early every morning to drive people from the airport. Usually always a smile and a joke, except when his work is grueling and he's under appreciated. But he's always done the work because of his dedication to our family. He's always taught me that no job is beneath us, and it's important to stay humble.
We nearly lost him this year, and it was the most terrifying experience of my life.
I may be a woman,but I don't know if I can ever be half the "man" of the man and incredible example he's set.
Hold your loved ones close. And appreciate the people serving you. (And tip your drivers. Most of them are honest, good people.♥️)

I'm a songwriter in Nashville that has had a nice dose of success (dealt a good hand) but every time I listen to Ben Rector and especially this song, I know I'm listening to a great great writer and master performer.
Ben, you're such an overlooked talent. If everyone saw the world the way you see it, we would all be better people. You're an amazing singer and songwriter. My favorite song is Old Friends and it punches me right in the tear ducts every time I give it a listen. Your ability to relate to anyone and everyone is a gift from God. Keep being yourself my friend, you are a bright light in the swallowing darkness.

This song reminds me of my grandfather. I broke my ankle weeks before starting college and commuted from home. I actually could drive pretty well with my left foot but he insisted he take me to school to know that i got there safely. Grandpa dropped me off and would go back home afterwards and drive back again in the afternoon. I just google mapped it....254 miles....each day....for 15 weeks. What a man

I got to perform as part of a choir in a concert with Ben. Out of all the songs he did, this was by far the most memorable to me. We got to rehearse with him once and he is such a humble guy, and a great musician.

As someone who has driven a shuttle bus at an airport for the past 13 years, it is nice to feel appreciated in song form. One of my passengers recommended this song to me and it is nice to not feel invisible for a small moment in time. I am wanting to save up to go to a coding bootcamp and become fluent in coding so i can relate to Danny and being here at all hours of the day sometimes to make sure people can get to their flights.

It wasn’t him, not really. But you wrote that first verse about my father in Colorado. I can’t even write about it much, because he had to stop driving for Uber several years ago because of his health. It was downhill fast from there..: and he just hasn’t been the same since the stroke he had not many months after Uber told him he wasn’t well enough to drive. But I’m going to cherish the time we have. He’s the one who taught me what I’m supposed to expect from a man.
