I love that you speak at a pace that's easy to listen to. So many people who do videos like this on drama/reality tv speak so quickly it's difficult to watch.
I give them props for not letting the fact they have so many young kids stop them from having fun outings with the kids. I know they had each other AND a lot of help but i couldn't image how hard it would be. I feel like id be overwhelmed and need a nap just from getting all their stuff and the kids ready.
I always thought it was perfect that Cara's name has CARE in it and she was always so sweet with the babies and Mady's name has MAD in it lol. Obviously not Mady's fault since she was a young child
I remember watching Jon and Kate plus 8 when I was a kid and of course I didnt see the crazy things that went on that I do now as an adult. Kate especially drives me nuts, she's such a narcissist. Even to this day she still has 6 of her 8 kids turned against Jon. Jon isnt perfect by any means but he's better then Kate. He didn't want to put up with her crazy ass so she tried to turn the kids against him. Thankfully Hannah and Collin were smart enough to see through her. It's sad this once close family are now so devided. But yeah looking back and watching these shows I definitely see how messed up it is now.
Jon and Kate are both the worst. it's mentioned several times about how Jon disciplines the kids that even Kate tells him to relax. at one point he says "if you push Colin on me again I'm leaving him behind" he's just as bad as Kate and doesn't get a free pass just because he married a controlling narcissist lolol
I would NEVER in a million years marry someone who said to my crying child or overstimulated child, "Suck up your tears, stop crying and for the rest of the trip, don't open your mouth." My dad did that a ton and he STILL shushes me in restaurants as well as my boyfriend but I've told him to stop and he apologized but still. I admit, I get excited and am a little loud sometimes but I don't need someone shushing me. If you hate that I'm being loud, go and sit at another table, outside and away from me. I swear, people who are rude like that drive me nuts and I am a Jon lover, way more than Kate. I hope to NEVER marry someone who shushes me at a restaurant. Even if I went on a date with someone who shushed me, they'd be dumped immediately. No one shushes me like I'm a child. Also, don't ever in a million years tell my child to "suck it up" or "be happy" on trips if they're not having fun or in a bad mood. Kids are allowed to have feelings and be heard if they're having problems. They're allowed to have a voice and not just be told to listen to their parents all the time. Also, I would still never marry someone who thinks that their genetic make-up freaks them out to even have kids because they're afraid that their kids will have autism or some type of special-needs. Why are you afraid of that? Why do you automatically think that because of your family history, your future kids will automatically have autism? Autism isn't super common and the only reason autism comes out is if the parents are super old and the genetics factor is high but I've looked it up and there's only a very small percentage that if the father has a lot of autism on either side, the child won't end up being autistic. It's a slim chance that if an autistic man marries someone that their child will end up being autistic. This is again, just my personal opinion and what I'm experiencing right now. It's difficult but I'm surviving it somehow.
I only have four kids, but I also banned markers from my house until my youngest is older. It's not the clothes I'm worried about, it's my furniture. Anytime there has been a marker in my house, itz used on walls or furniture almost immediately. And my walls are matte finish so even washable markers do not wash off
I was the oldest of 7 in a blended family, my closest sibling was 2 weeks younger than me but didn't live with us, my youngest sibling is 12 years younger than me. Ever sucre I was 8 or 9 years old I felt like I had to put my childhood aside to not be a burden on my parents. This show is so relatable for me and I can't wait until some of these kids get older and tell all about what didn't happen on camera, and what it was like to grow up in that environment
I’m glad you bring up the Colin bit, it really comes off like she kinda was always mean and negative about him even like from the way she described him in like the pilot with what Kate says the kids are like. I wish these kids the best and hope they thrive in life.

Same here. Thankfully, my parents weren't like that. I wouldn't shut my kids up if they were crying and upset. Also, I would never marry someone who exploded in anger just because our child did something wrong or got a bad grade on a test or didn't do their homework. I also would never want them to discipline them in their bedroom and spank them and yell at them. All that does is teach kids to never tell their parents anything and to lie. I would never want any kids I have to learn that ever. I'm not teaching any kids I do have to lie about anything they do wrong.

My parents wedding theme was “Pat and Devin plus 7” and I’m the oldest so I used to relate with this show a lot. I’m 10 years older than my youngest sibling and 5 years older than my brother who is the oldest after me. Going out and doing anything as a family was always so stressful and I blame that for how bad my anxiety gets in public spaces. I also was basically a built in babysitter from the time I was 9 till I moved out at 16 and my “pay” was getting school clothes every year. My relationship with my parents now is super strained so I relate with these kids now more than ever 😂

Wearing helmets while skiing/snowboarding wasn’t really normalized and expected until recently unfortunately. I’ve known people who’ve died because they weren’t wearing a helmet.
Also the woman who played the mom in the parent trap. Which after that happened my little brother fell on his head when my grandparents dog ran into him which cause my mom to reasonable panic because of the news. Thankfully he was fine.
What I've noticed is that both these parents have terrible communication and emotion regulation skills. I mean they're short tempered with each other and with the children, causing the kids to be short tempered themselves. Kate would slap her husband and her children, especially off camera. Both parents grab their kids to get them to do as they tell them. Kate off camera was more physical and on camera she was very controlling and freaked out on them. Jon's shouting volume when the kids do play up in front of him is like a pit bull barking. Both parents talk over one another and both of them verbally attack each other, creating unnecessary drama to the people around them. When Jon does try to step up whether it's the children or the house, nothing is ever good enough for Kate. As a result of the lack of respect between the parents, the kids don't have respect either. Season 3 in particular was when this family's behavior was at their worst emotionally. This family was not happy. Once they separated it looked like things were okay, but the result of this whole thing was disastrous.
20:10 I am one and done because, due to my own limitations and circumstances, I cannot parent the way I want to parent if we had more kids. We had originally thought 2. But I owe the actual child I have now the parenting he deserves and not a potentially positive sibling relationship.
I honestly think they had to edit things crazy on this show, not only cuz there were 8 kids screamin all the time, but because Kate just kinda never stops talking.
I’ll never understand the whole “boys are harder to potty train” ideology. Maybe because i’m a man, but i was also a teacher for toddlers and preschool and my boys were so easy to teach to go potty. They just go, shake and off they went. My girls ADORED chatting on the potty and playing in the toilet paper 🙄
It all depends on the kid, though. Boys are typically harder to train, just because they like being in diapers whereas girls are easier and have an easier time due to their anatomy, I think as well as personality. If you think boys are easier, that's great but that's not always the case. I mean, I've seen it a ton where boys don't want to be potty-trained and girls do whereas I've never seen a boy want to just be potty-trained where a girl doesn't. Typically, girls are just ready faster than boys, I don't know why but that's what I've read and seen. Also, you just teach them to "go, shake and leave"? Why are you not teaching those kids how to wash their hands after? Little boys are gross and stick their hands and fingers everywhere, not just on their privates. If you don't tell your students to wash their hands after using the bathroom, that's disgusting.
@@Supersoccerchic Yeahhh i took a child development class that completely debunks this. Boys are only “harder” because statistically, women are the ones who do the potty training more and they don’t bother taking the time to learn how to train a male. Mothers are the ones interviewed about these things for statistical research, because society has this mentality that men can’t teach children milestones. It has nothing to do with the child, ALL children learn at their own time, its the moms who are completely against learning about how the opposite sex’s genitals work. To me personally its laziness from the mothers.
I’m sorry what?? “Shake off and go”?? Where is the “cleaning off with toilet paper so we won’t dirty up the pants with urine drops”? Where is the “sit down and pee, it’s healthier for boys too”? Where is most importantly “WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP”???
@@melz6625 Yeah, this guy really isn't doing a good thing by teaching boys to not wash their hands or sit down on the toilet or little potty. I mean, come on. For me, if I had a boy and a girl, I'd teach them how to do those things.
Kate seems like one of those people who always finds something negative to say about every person she meets. She seems like an exhausting person to be around. The way she treats Jon is awful.
I wouldn’t bash the coffee gift card 😂….I would prefer that over a bag and jewelry and my husband would have LOVD that (we are huge coffee drinkers)….if that’s his thing then that’s his thing.
Weighing in here as a 33yr old mom of 6. I think it's a super common misconception that the more kids you have the less attention. Although all of mine are singletons I think it's really a case by case basis. I am also a SAHM and I think that's a privilege alot of families don't have.
Yeah but to me, that's disgusting. I don't care if my child is crying for their sibling. I personally would hate it if my husband gave my kid his chewed-up gum just to get her to stop crying for her sibling she missed. That's gross to me.
obviously did you listen to the explanation on the show to why jon took the boys by himself it was 1. because it was hard to find someone to watch the kids 8 times so the boys did time just with jon also to do some one on one time with daddy
Yeah unfortunately back in early 2000s ski helmets weren’t really widely worn. Didn’t become a norm on the mountain until a little later than this, so yes it’s irresponsible, but also was kinda the norm then.
The seasons available are messed up bc technically season 2 episode 10 is them going to Disney but you cannot find it and some other episodes like vow renewal anywhere anymore 🤔
Kate wrote in her diary that she spanked Collin for hours until her hands hurt. I like you until you "appreciated Kate for telling Jon to not discipline when angry." Girl, bye.
Why not? You don't need to discipline when you're angry. You can easily discipline when you're not angry and ready to yell at your kids. I bet you would spank your own kids. I would never if I had any.
@@Supersoccerchic ik what dairy farms are but this looked more of a actual factory they use for milk. There's one near by town that looks like a huge farm/warehouse thing that just holds all the cows till their slaughtered.

Btw the algorithm showed be Season 4 part 1 and you now have a new subscribers in me.
I can fully understand why you don't want a large family. But many parents make it work well. And of course the vast majority don't put their kids on tv. Keep in mind we don't see this family's whole life either. Just the moments on tv.
Mady was a child who, as a toddler, consistently had her parents attention as the ratio was 2:2. Then, as a child, it’s 8:2. It’s not psycho to be 7 and want your parents’ attention and not be great at expressing your frustration
@@danixxgreen So was Cara and she doesn't throw toddler fits like Mady. This is a parent problem though. Many parents with large families handle these situations well. But Kate and Jon don't generally, plus they're on TV so that's a whole other problem.
@@SoCalJellybean Its almost like kids take after the role models their given and a literal 6 years old won't have the critical thinking skills to take apart their parent's flaws. Which is not the fault of the child
@@pagejames8754 Did you know that not all children are a hivemind and that different kids have different personalities and needs and process things differently? When your emotions are constantly being dismissed *IE* Jon basically telling her to sit down and shut up when she was clearly overwhelmed in ep 16 and Kate straight up ignoring her when she was asking her a basic question you probably aren't gonna have great emotional regulation. Just a thought.
I'd love to fix this, however, I don't know where I included any moments of showing the kids on the toilet. I was very deliberate on cutting out all of those scenes. The boys are completely covered and standing at 7:10 and that's the closest thing I can find to showing them being potty trained.
I think the editing did Kate dirty. She was problematic, but it seems like Jon gets a pass because the camera is pointed at Kate. Jon was not observant, acted in anger, and would retreat inside himself and left Kate.
Dani, that's such a lie that in big families, kids can be forgotten. If I had a big family and a kid asked me how do I make a puppet out of scraps, I'd answer them and wouldn't just tell them that their feelings don't matter and they will be heard. I wouldn't be like Jon and Kate at all. Also, big families are a lot of fun and craziness but they are awesome too. A big family is a dream of mine but because I'm not rich, I can't get that dream and it honestly sucks. I'd LOVE to have a lot of kids around because being in a small family really sucks too. Also, Kate explicitly said that she wouldn't be spending time with the boys because they don't have enough baby-sitters and that Jon and the boys would get to do "male-bonding". She's always been against the boys, which I really don't get.
After rewatching most of the episodes, it's clear to me that Jon was the problem. Kate was always yelling at him cause he acted like another kid. Also when they are angry, Kate usually snaps at his behavior/what he's doing, while Jon will say flat out abusive things. Also like what you said earlier, Jon was so much more agressive and angry with the kids then kate.
Kate would get physical with the children off camera. Both parents were the problem in different ways. Both parents had terrible emotion regulation and communication skills which in turn causes serious behavior issues with the children
I’ve noticed people who say stuff like this tend to identify with Kate. They sympathize with her and want so badly for her to be the victim, because it means they are redeemable too. Kate even after the divorce was seen to still be a miserable person who doesn’t know how to treat others. My advice to anyone looking to date is to rewatch these old episodes and see how people react. Anyone who sees Kate as some innocent victim should be avoided lol. They are clearly also a narcissistic and abusive asshole. Jon and Kate both sucked in different ways, but saying either one was ‘the problem’ is so telling . She openly shames his appearance and dehumanizes him publicly in the way she speaks to him. He can’t even breathe without her spitting venom his way.
I love your vids but in the nicest way possible its a little hard for me to focus on what your saying because it sounds like you're reading off a script, no hate tho

@danixxgreen In 2014, they became washable on clothes and skin. Go read Google more . Go past 1987 washable markers were introduced.. Writing on a dry-erase board is different than clothing.
@@danixxgreenMe neither, but if she was so worried about the kids getting marker on their clothes, she should have brought smocks for them to wear. If she had, maybe there would have been less chaos.

12:59 omg just noticed the jjc degree, hey friend!! I’m alumni too :)
Love your videos I’m so happy I found this ❤
Weighing in here as a 33yr old mom of 6. I think it's a super common misconception that the more kids you have the less attention. Although all of mine are singletons I think it's really a case by case basis. I am also a SAHM and I think that's a privilege alot of families don't have.
You are very blessed! 🌷
Jon taking that gum out of his mouth and giving it to Leah has lived rent free in my mind for years
Yeah but to me, that's disgusting. I don't care if my child is crying for their sibling. I personally would hate it if my husband gave my kid his chewed-up gum just to get her to stop crying for her sibling she missed. That's gross to me.
Ski helmets didn’t become the norm until around 2013-ish. It was totally normal then to not have a helmet on.
obviously did you listen to the explanation on the show to why jon took the boys by himself it was 1. because it was hard to find someone to watch the kids 8 times so the boys did time just with jon also to do some one on one time with daddy
Can you please share you’re opinion on the lol podcast and the hosts of the podcast
Yeah unfortunately back in early 2000s ski helmets weren’t really widely worn. Didn’t become a norm on the mountain until a little later than this, so yes it’s irresponsible, but also was kinda the norm then.
My kids definitely have stained marker on their uniforms lol I just don’t care because they’re KIDS.
You should cover Sister Wives!

Did they take Aiden to a farm or a cow factory....those cows look scared cause they know theyre about to be food 😭💀
It was a dairy farm.
@@Supersoccerchic ik what dairy farms are but this looked more of a actual factory they use for milk. There's one near by town that looks like a huge farm/warehouse thing that just holds all the cows till their slaughtered.
@@baileysellers7877 Well, that's what they said it was. They didn't say it was a factory they used for milk so, I don't know what to tell you.
Wow I've been watching this whole playlist and 9 minutes in was the first ad I recall seeing during the video. I don't know if it's just cause it's a month old so you didn't have motorization yet or what but lol girl get those ads going lol it's RUclips we get making videos monetized and people will either pay up for RUclips premium or be like me and be patient. I understand you feeling like these shows were exploitative but just like The Dad Challenge Podcast says, you are putting time and work into all of your videos. Nothing wrong with monetizing that. Btw the algorithm showed be Season 4 part 1 and you now have a new subscribers in me.
If you push Colin off to me again…I’m leaving them…Jon Goseling
I thought you were 20 😅 now I’m confused lol
I can fully understand why you don't want a large family. But many parents make it work well. And of course the vast majority don't put their kids on tv. Keep in mind we don't see this family's whole life either. Just the moments on tv.
Mady was a little psycho, I swear. 😳
Mady was a child who, as a toddler, consistently had her parents attention as the ratio was 2:2. Then, as a child, it’s 8:2. It’s not psycho to be 7 and want your parents’ attention and not be great at expressing your frustration
@@danixxgreenYeah, she just always came across as a mini Kate, and it puts me off. 🤷🏼♀️
“If you push Colin off on me again I’m leaving him” damn….poor Colin. No one liked that kid
its hypocritical how u say u think they wouldnt want ppl to see them potty training but u show them potty training completely uncensored
I'd love to fix this, however, I don't know where I included any moments of showing the kids on the toilet. I was very deliberate on cutting out all of those scenes. The boys are completely covered and standing at 7:10 and that's the closest thing I can find to showing them being potty trained.
@@danixxgreen6:36 though, they're literally sitting on the toilet

@@user999online ikr???
Great catch, thank you! It might take a view hours for the blurring edit to process but I have edited it
I think the editing did Kate dirty.

She most likely does have a script, most RUclipsrs do
@@nikkydalby7126 i know but like you can read from a script and idk sound less like a robot, yk. youtubers who have more life in their voice just help me focus better on what is being said and they become more successful when they do that so its a win for both of us
She will get better! Most RUclipsrs sound like that at first. I think she sounds informative, she will loosen up I’m sure!
The bus brings back memories, I had a medal from one at preschool
I honestly like it because she enunciates really well and speaks very clearly and evenly, which makes it easier for me to hear and focus on what she’s saying, which I can struggle with for other videos
Markers were not "washable " back then. Kate is a superwoman.
Crayola markers have been washable since 1987 so I’m not sure where you got that idea from
@danixxgreen
In 2014, they became washable on clothes and skin. Go read Google more . Go past 1987 washable markers were introduced.. Writing on a dry-erase board is different than clothing.
@@danixxgreenMe neither, but if she was so worried about the kids getting marker on their clothes, she should have brought smocks for them to wear. If she had, maybe there would have been less chaos.
how old do you think this show is? 😂
of course they were.
