Congratulations Lucia and Taimur!! I am probably not your target audience being a female aged 59 but I have always enjoyed this pod. I smiled through Taimur's news - my son and daughter-in-law are expecting a daughter next year and I'm so excited for that!
Man this is one lucky kid! :) I've not seen someone who respects kids as much and thinks a lot about their autonomy and freedom like Taimur and someone as compassionate as Lucia. Plus they're both intelligent and sensitive in general.
Congratulations to Taimur and Lucia. It was very moving to hear Taimur talking about becoming a dad and his realization of the toll of pregnancy , childbirth and breastfeeding on women. I'm sure he will be a supportive husband and a great dad❤
Congrats Taimur and specially Lucia for going through childbirth! Side note: Ali is such a good interviewer! I wish we had had as much info about his wedding as when he interviewed Taimur about his (and now his fatherhood journey). I'm sure there were many details he was comfortable sharing. Anyways, loved hanging out with you guys as usual!
Congrats Taim and Ali on all the new fam stuff! Kinda wild that i started listening to 2 single dudes and now y'all are married and have kids... Life moves quickly and yet somehow stays in the same place! Much love 💞
On the issue of consent as it relates to children, I think if it's not something that's necessary for the child's survival and if it's something that I would expect to first consent to as an adult, it's probably something I shouldn't just make my child do because they aren't able to vocalise consent yet. For example, I'm quite a private person and I don't share my own pictures online. I don't like it when other people do so without asking me (except on my birthday, which I would've said yes to. Lol). So I take the view that if I would want consent, they eventually might too.
Personal responsibility is broadly right but one thing "the government is not coming to save me" mentality misses is that the government must be forced to do the right thing by the people / movements for justice and that organizing for justice is necessary on a lot of fronts. Speaking from a US perspective, it would be wrong to tell someone "personal responsibility" your way out of poor outcomes due to slavery, segregation, etc and some people don't realize it's the same for poverty, low / stagnant wages, housing, health, etc. Poor outcomes are legislated + intentional choices made by people with power. Personal responsibility can only get us so far, but a lot of people stop at the personal responsibility part without realizing that building movements for justice is also necessary. For example, we cannot personal responsibility our way out of the effects of climate change, pandemics, etc. We need the government to handle the before/after/during disasters + pandemics -- most people simply cannot handle disasters + pandemics using our own money / power. We don't have what's needed at the scale it's needed, such as PPE (respirators, clean air tech for airborne diseases, etc), treatments, medical care, disability care when we get disabled by our C0V!D infection (known as Long C0V!D), paid time off of work to recover, disability accommodations at work, etc. These all need to be meaningful and can't be shoddy.
Huge Congratulations! :) Regarding not sharing the little baby's name - although I am very curious what nae you have chosen, it is better to be safe than sorry. Best wishes to the whole family!
Congrats Taimur!! I hope this show goes on for a long time. It's really nice to see you guys reflecting at various turning points of life. I've never reflected on marriage and long-term relationships until Taimur got married and you guys did a podcast discussing it. This episode has really got me to reflect on what things I value and where I want to be in a couple of years time. I'm really lucky to be listening to this, so thanks guys for all your hard work!
you cant tell me Ali didn't know Taimur was having a baby for 9 months. do these 2 not talk with each other? like what is going on lol. Ho was he surprised to hear that??? unless it was a fake over reaction.

Its crazy what women go through with birth, quite literally life or death, but congratulations to you and your wife on the new edition to the fam ❤

Both of them have a round face but chose round glasses?
Go for a rectangular frame. I guess fashion tips are not their forte.
Congrats Taimur!!
