While tipping is common here in Canada no one should be chasing you to demand a tip that is just rude. Tipping is important as many of the places you tip pay less than others. Places you don't tip are things like grocery stores unless you have them delivered. Also recommend if you come to Canada to study or live many cultures have groups that get together it can be a great way to meet people. Yes we are friendly smaller town/cities you might even find locals will come up to you if you look lost. Things we need to work on are here too. There is racists here too and you might encounter them in your every day world I hope you don't but they are the things you can speak up about and often others who might not know you will come to your defense most don't tolerate this kind of thing at all.
My friends who experienced being chased for tips were in the US. And yeah, so far I haven’t experienced any form of racism here. Everyone is just great!
Canada is not a melting pot. That is the USA. the difference is: USA..melting pot means you are expected to totally assimilate to being an American Canada: Multicultural means you are encouraged to keep your ethnic culture and lanquage. You are expected to become cdn in the sense that you need to be willing to work and pay towards our social benefits and be friendly.
