I don’t even know how many times I’ve watched the first 6 movies, I remember one time watching those 6 movies back to back, over & over again every day for weeks. So I still can’t believe that a company could so utterly destroy a property they spent billions for, it makes absolutely no sense how a company would give this series to this Hedland person, it boggles my mind.

I vividly remember where I was and who I was with when I first saw Star Wars. It was such an important memory, a pivotal experience for me. It's hard to believe that the people involved in writing and producing the recent Star Wars offerings understand how important/influential this property is to many people, to us, the fans. Earlier shows had messages and morals too, but they were better done with better messages & morals. For instance, when a show like Wanted: Dead or Alive, The Rockford Files, or Walker, Texas Ranger had a con artist or thief get their comeuppance, it was understood that they failed & faced punishment because they had been greedy & hurt people. While it usually wasn’t directly stated, the moral was, “Don’t be a greedy a-hole who hurts people.” The characters didn’t spend most of the episode shoving the moral down the audience’s throat because the writers respected the audience’s intelligence and ability to determine right from wrong. Like I’ve said before about comic books, I know that shows and movies addressed social issues back in the day too; they just weren’t obnoxious about it. There’s a difference between things like the shows of Norman Lear and the kind of shows we’re irritated with. Also, it used to be if a show did poorly, the network changed writers, changed the time slot, and the like. The blame was put on the writing staff, time slot, etc. and not the viewers. I agree that, unfortunately, a lot of words are losing their meaning due to being misused so frequently.

I bailed during Mandolorian 3. Wasn’t because somebody was or wasnt gay, wasnt because of toxic masculinity. I left because of bad flipping baby yoda puppet, after Dinn Djaren just noped out of his own character arc and they forced it on a character we liked prior in Bo Katan, but due to this jarring trade up and blatant derailing shift to the story, did not want to continue on with. The quality of writing, and the brushing off of some character’s own agency just so they can make the next thing happen whether or not it logically makes any sense to any decision the character they had would ever have made when given a believable option in regards to their own story arc. The writing, directing, and effects are bad. Like “Hercules and Xena” bad, without any of the fun charm those shows had back in the day. It just seems odd to me that they’re bragging about diversity for a show about villains. Please don’t misunderstand; as long as it’s done well, I’m for diverse villains just like diverse heroes. It gets awfully boring when a show has the same cookie-cutter villains week after week after week (leers over at FBI and FBI: Most Wanted on CBS, which has antagonists so generic and boring they make the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit antagonists look colorful and creative). I just think this has unfortunate implications. Why not have a team of heroes with a diverse cast? The Justice League, the Avengers, and the Teen Titans have diverse rosters and that’s worked fine. Why villains? There can be interesting stories with villains as protagonists, but this show is not the way.
Does Disney hire uncharismatic actors on purpose?!?! Between the cast of the last trilogy to this show, the actors they hire have the charisma of mannequins. In 2004 Battlestar Galactica was remade with a gender swapped Starbuck, a race swapped Col Tigh and a race and gender swapped Boomer. The villains were completely remade from being exclusively robots to humanoids. You also had a main character child and his robot dog completely eliminated from the show. There was some talk about these changes but no outrage. Battlestar Galactica was a huge hit and lasted for years. None of this was done for diversity or politics or message. Who would have thought that of 2 of the biggest Science Fiction shows of the 70s that it would be Battlestar Galactica that is loved and Star Wars that is reviled.
I like both BSG shows. I have seen push back on the reboot about the swaps from some old school 70's BSG fans, but the general concensus the BSG reboot was liked more than it wasn't. SPOILER to a show from 04. Some characters are not just sex or race swapped, but are species swapped. The origin of the Cylons was pretty simple good vs evil in the first series. The product of an extinct alien lizard race. END OF SPOILERS. The reboot got me thinking on multiple levels. Which I could waffle on about for sure.

I can say this for a fact none of the little kids in the family are Disney Star Wars fans. So Disney are not capturing the younger generation in our home. I also think action figures is very much last generation. I can get the little kids to the park and do sporty stuff, but playing with toys no interest. The one who has lots of figures leaves them boxed like an old for display only. The kids don't really care about actions toys anymore. The digital gaming space has taken over. The action figures they play with are in virtual world. I bet most of us olds are buying the merch for us than the kids.
Lucasfilm makes the oddest choices. Dismiss previous lore, and create their own which struggles in sales. Then they go back and try adapting Heir to the Empire, while creating another tv series in the same universe using their own High Republic era. Which again, is struggling in aales.
If you make a movie for yourself then you watch it.If you make a movie for the public then you make what they want to see not what you want to see.

I bailed during Mandolorian 3. Wasn’t because somebody was or wasnt gay, wasnt because of toxic masculinity. I left because of bad flipping baby yoda puppet, after Dinn Djaren just noped out of his own character arc and they forced it on a character we liked prior in Bo Katan, but due to this jarring trade up and blatant derailing shift to the story, did not want to continue on with.
The quality of writing, and the brushing off of some character’s own agency just so they can make the next thing happen whether or not it logically makes any sense to any decision the character they had would ever have made when given a believable option in regards to their own story arc.
The writing, directing, and effects are bad. Like “Hercules and Xena” bad, without any of the fun charm those shows had back in the day.

It just seems odd to me that they’re bragging about diversity for a show about villains. Please don’t misunderstand; as long as it’s done well, I’m for diverse villains just like diverse heroes. It gets awfully boring when a show has the same cookie-cutter villains week after week after week (leers over at FBI and FBI: Most Wanted on CBS, which has antagonists so generic and boring they make the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit antagonists look colorful and creative). I just think this has unfortunate implications. Why not have a team of heroes with a diverse cast? The Justice League, the Avengers, and the Teen Titans have diverse rosters and that’s worked fine. Why villains? There can be interesting stories with villains as protagonists, but this show is not the way.

In 2004 Battlestar Galactica was remade with a gender swapped Starbuck, a race swapped Col Tigh and a race and gender swapped Boomer. The villains were completely remade from being exclusively robots to humanoids. You also had a main character child and his robot dog completely eliminated from the show. There was some talk about these changes but no outrage. Battlestar Galactica was a huge hit and lasted for years. None of this was done for diversity or politics or message. Who would have thought that of 2 of the biggest Science Fiction shows of the 70s that it would be Battlestar Galactica that is loved and Star Wars that is reviled.
I like both BSG shows. I have seen push back on the reboot about the swaps from some old school 70's BSG fans, but the general concensus the BSG reboot was liked more than it wasn't. SPOILER to a show from 04. Some characters are not just sex or race swapped, but are species swapped. The origin of the Cylons was pretty simple good vs evil in the first series. The product of an extinct alien lizard race. END OF SPOILERS. The reboot got me thinking on multiple levels. Which I could waffle on about for sure.

When it was first announced there was outrage and pushback, even the original Starbuck actor joined in BUT the writer and producers talked to the fans and asked them to actually watch it first and then judge it on it's own merit. The rest is history.

My 10 year old son has been devouring Star Wars content like crazy. Just finished the Bad Batch with him. I went into the Acolyte with an open mind and didn’t tell him anything about any negative fan reviews or anything beyond it’s a new Star Wars show set before Anakin was born. After 2 episodes he asked if we can watch something else. I asked why. He said some of the fighting scenes were good but he just wasn’t interested. That’s sad to me. What is Disney doing with this franchise?

I don't think there's really a way to correct the mistakes of the past. What I don't understand is what they're waiting for, what they're afraid of other than admitting they were wrong, I don't think they're afraid of a few idiots on Twitter and I don't think they're afraid of the traditional media, they can jump like many of the activists they've hired.
I don't know about Jedi not being fat, some aliens feel like they might be naturally rotund and still be Force sensitive. Additionally, I am curious how one could blend the mysticism of a Jedi with a Sumo wrestler like frame. Check out Shugoki from For Honor and make him an alien with Force powers, and you got a cool overweight basis for a Jedi fighter.
