Actually, Anchorage is relatively mild by Alaska standards. Anchorage averages about a foot of snow for the entire month of November so it is far above average snow they’re getting!
It can actually get too cold do snow much. At temps below zero, the snow flakes become small. Any bit of wind will blow this powder away. Look at all that global warming on the ground.
Lived upstate NY and one day we could not get out of the front door, completely covered in snow, could not even see our car. Last for a few days, defiantly Awesome. Digging out oh boy.
And? If there’s one state who’s populace can easily handle this it would be Alaska. You don’t live there for the beaches. I did love the “moose” update..😂.
That's called a mid-autumn snowstorm 😊
Looks normal.. used to live in Wasilla and that seriously looks like a normal day in that city..
I lived there when I was a kid (12 or 13). Will never forget it. Had a blast roaming the woods around the army base (Ft. Richardson).
come back
From sweden here, so YOU are surprised or more, chocked that it snows in the winter time? Alaska!! lol
Greetings, Alaskans, from Buffalo, NY. Got a little snow? 😅
I have never even been to Alaska, but I'm surprised that Anchorage was paralyzed by that amount of snow. In Pennsylvania we've gotten that much many times throughout my life and Alaska ought to be more prepared for winter weather? Also why do they have power lines above ground in such a snowy place?
when you dont have or have light snow for 20 years in a place, people just forget and dont prepare, everyone thinks global warming is just going to continue with dryer warmer winters but if this is indees a cycle a planet is going through then it might just start getting cold again, now idk about the ozone layer and what that does to climate- i remember hearing about ozone holes in our city back in 90s.
Even russians are not prepared and boy they had winters back then, with snow blizzards with winds literally howling, now its not as much so the old generation forgot and new generation never even seen it
Going to Fairbanks december 12th. Please have this cleared up😢😮
Your snowman looks like SNL's "Mr. Bill"
It snows in Alaska? Are you kidding me?
That ain't noth'in. Here in the Columbia River Gorge (Hood River, OR) in 1980 we got an honest 6' of snow in 65 hours.
Welcome to the real Alaska, Las Anchorage. Greetings from Fairbanks.
We've not seen that much SNOW in Montreal, in such a short time in my memory of 20 years. I am sure things will get cleaned up sooner o later. Hang in there Anchorage !!
Oh looks like a Canadian snow storm .
I am kind of old but I remember trick or treating in Turnagain on roads that were snow-packed with snow banks at least 3 feet high.
well it is alaska
What are you all complaining about? You are Alaska. I am looking somewhere to move with guaranteed snow. Is Anchorage that place?
Yes
Global Cooling
I JUST LOVE THIS SNOW.
Lived in Valdez 79-85, this isnt that much. I rember 3-4 feet overnight some days. Only had one snow day school closer due to extreme wind chill.
I hope to see weather like this in Chicago this year!
After more recent winters with no snow, real late snow, or rain in the middle of winter, this is a welcome 'big deal' of the fun kind, preceded by a non-summer of mostly drizzle and rain with perhaps 2 weeks total of sunshine and much muck on backcountry hiking trails. Besides, shoveling snow is great exercise. All we need now is for it to finally cool down to the teens and single digits to make it a real winter.
