I appreciate your video as it helped to identify the spring, BUT Next time take the padded cover off the top of the ironing board. There is a similar hole on top in which you can see the area where you need to release the spring. If you use your handle lever in this top side it works much better. (Your handle looks damaged and has many kinks in it, no doubt from attempting to use it in different ways.). I did not bend my handle from its original shape when I released the spring from the top.
