If you're not in the mood for HSR, it's okay not to be. Forcing yourself to push through content you're not enjoying makes it unenjoyable for your viewers as well.

@@prasadvare8623 I was kind of stoked because I caught him live, and had to stop because he was literally complaining all the time, especially during the boss fights.
I hated that his logic was - I don't play the game seriously so my characters are bad, but boss fights take too long and are boring. My brother in Christ, if you don't play the game that much how do you expect your characters to be strong?

Some people that want to enjoy the story can just stay at lower WL with average build of characters.
A lot of CC does it cause they are not thenically "gamers" and just want to enjoy the story.
@@TheMattVis I think I fit in there xD. I have my tanks and healers very well built to protect my other characters that work just enough to get past the boss (eventually I'll give them the love they deserve).
Bran, If you feel burnout, just quit the game and enjoy what you like. You can always come back later (or never come back) that's totally fine. It's good for you and your viewers too. The point of a game is to enjoy it after all.
i can really tell he's more enthusiastic about wuwa and genshin, open world games, vs turn based games.
I think the issue is that folks really wanted to do the whole 12 hour quest in one go, then it really starts to drag. Like Bran was straight up skipping dialogue by the end.
If you divide it into logical stopping points, then it works much better, in my opinion
This reminds me of people who complain about the Aranyaka questline in Genshin being so long. Literally no one told you to do it all in one sitting, that's your fault.
Definitely, I did the quest over three days I didn't struggle with the pacing almost at all (except for some of sunday's parts lol)
@@draixsama right!! Aranyaka quest was meant to be done throughout the whole of 4.0 but some people decided to do it on release day and then complain about the fact that it's too long.
this was a 12 hours quest? barely felt like 5 and i still knew what happened (no intense spamming skipping of dialogue)

Bran I really loved your videos so much and would watch your playthroughs when I felt down and when I needed someone to share with me my passion in certain games. Your genshin playlist is still saved so that I rewatch you play the quests every now and then. I'm not just "the RUclips folks who don't get it lmao" I also watch your streams regularly even for games I don't play like WuWa.
I loved you more than other specific streamers because your interest in stories, characters, and lore. You had a very bright personality back then and was really kind and emotionally engaged in creating content. Now it just feels like that version of you is disappearing (and I'm talking about your streams).
I REALLY hope you understand that I'm NOT hating and genuinely just giving constructive criticism for my favourite streamer and you can take it or leave it.
You get so defensive on stream, almost attacking and making fun of anyone who tries to explain certain things after you say your opinion or anyone who says an opinion respectfully that you don't like. You dismiss them, get super defensive, or just laugh at them. I sometimes get scared of commenting in case I'd get attacked or made fun of on stream. And you keep repeating "don't be cringe just be normal" for people who literally just comment without hate or disrespect. People at some point were telling others to not spoil and you got mad at them saying they were cringe and to stop saying that. That's just one instance of many I've noticed recently. You don't feel easy to engage with at all the last maybe few months or year.
As for the stories, it depends on the game, but overall yes I agree with a comment posted here, you're way less interested generally. I know content creation is a job, I'm a content writer myself and sometimes I don't feel passionate about writing if I'm writing about topics I'm not interested in or already wrote too much about previously. So I understand that sometimes you feel the need to push out content to keep up with the hype of newly released updates or new video ideas. It's tiring. That's why all we're saying is to respectfully take a break from whatever feels like a chore to you. You said yourself that you had to finish this quest before Friday to catch up with the HSR livestream and had other content planned for the other days such as the genshin archon quest today (which I watched and even when you clearly loved the lore you still felt off and didn't have that shine about you like usual. Like it's a chore I love but a chore nonetheless vibes), and WuWa for Yinlin I guess tomorrow, and then the HSR livestream and then the Clorinde story quest. So it's a packed week, please just pace yourself through it all. Releasing content is important and good but when you're not happy about it or even interested it shows a lot more than you think and it starts to feel like a chore and a burden for the viewers too.
You're not required to respond or to explain anything this is purely just for you and if I had a way to contact you privately or say my opinion somewhere not public I would've so it wouldn't feel bad when people read it (we have this saying in my country that goes something like this: an advice in public is a scandal. Ofc my English is not perfect but I hope you get what I mean).
You're right about a lot of the things here and it probably does stem from rushing things, trying to meet people's demands on time etc, I'll take this into consideration and probably make a little update video on what kinda content I'll be covering/posting from now on, appreciate the sincere criticism in a mature way!

Bran is the Hoyo youtuber/streamer i watch the most. Cus he's very observant, analytical and interested in the lore/story.
I stayed a viewer because of this Bran, and I dont see him in this video.
I don't know what happened. But especially for Star rail, he just seems incredibly disinterested, and overly critical about everything while barely even trying to think/analyse the story at all.
Complaining about the quest being too long? Bad pacing cus quest is long and filled with "long convoluted dialogue"? Nah bro. All that "convoluted" dialogue is lore-relevant and character-relevant. Penacony has incredibly minimal filler scenes. And (in my opinion), 2.2 Penacony quest is the peakest quest presentation in star rail and genshin combined. Filled with hype scenes, emotional themes, mind-fuckery, and numerous hidden lore bits, if you cared enough to absorb it all. That's what was hidden in that 8-hour long quest. Not pointless yapping.

What's not alright is treating star rail like an item to be cleared off the checklist, just so you can run back to play wuwa. If you wanna play wuwa, just go play wuwa.

Yes I agree, I can feel the different emotion, excitement between his Genshin video and Star Rail video. He can be very excited and interested in Genshin quest and analyzing the current quest situation here and there. But when he do the Star Rail quest? Nah it just felt different, he is clearly unhappy, not enjoying, and just wanted to skip all the dialogue and doesn't even want to think/analyze the situation, and proceed to criticize the story. Like if you doesn't enjoy playing Star Rail, is better to just not play it rather than forcing yourself to play it and treat it like a "To-Do List".
Do you think he is paying attention to the story? He constantly parrots that he is interested on it but keeps skipping dialogue, constantly complain about characters talking, doesn’t read anything. He literally skipped dialogue because he wants to finish it as quick as possible - just because.
He is not interested in Star Rail, at all.

I can totally understand people not enjoying a game, and that's fine cuz everyone has different preferences. But keep playing a game you don't enjoy and constantly complaining about the quest being too long and repetitive dialogue just made both Bran and the viewers uncomfortable.
it's probably most obvious in this vid, but i've noticed he's been like this for a while? i dont know if sticking to wuwa would help, because i watch all his vids (like all of them). I thought that maybe i'd get to see the lore loving bran in wuwa since he's been so hyped about it, but he's also impatient through out the wuwa vids, skipping quite a lot of dialogue in wuwa too. maybe he's reached the burnt out stage? i dont think he realizes that he's pretty much unhapy/impatient/irritable in basically every single vid where he's playing story (main story, character story, etc).

If you only want to know the story, watch a cutscene/dialogue compilation, I do that for loads of games that aren't of my liking in terms of gameplay but has a interesting story.

It gave me flashbacks of Tectone reacting to 3.0 sumeru trailer, where u could see he was just done with it, i get the same feeling from this vid.
I feel like pushing content you dont enjoy isnt a good thing, maybe dont stream the next main quest, just do it on your own, at your own pace.
And this is why sometimes Gacha game is better to be played using pacing, especially the kind with heavy story and lore like HSR and Genshin.
People can just pacing themselves to play the story around a month before next patch coming.
Literally after the story is done, most of the times theres nothing you can do, and that's why the dev probably stacked the story quite a lot in a phase.
Me myself just done with Penacony around 4 days ago, and we already have livestream this week meaning this phase is almost done.
Just my 2 cents here, but for me Bran desinterest for HSR was very apperant from the very beggining, he always felt disconected from it, at least compared to Genshin imo, Penacony was the first time i saw him REALLY liking the game for once and now he's not interested anymore, i agree the pace for the last quest is not the best but that doesn't make it a bad quest.
Btw i think is funny Asmon liked this quest and even said it is the best one from HSR and Bran didn't like it that much.
Agreed, it's okay that Bran isnt the person you go to if you want to watch HSR content. It's been clear he was only in it for the main story and even then he didn't seem that interested in that. [Also the side quests/companion quests/event quests I think ALL together are very good to do and add to HSR's overall main story, so deciding not to care about any of them and only do the main quest PLUS not building your characters for the gameplay just...makes it all an unfulfilling waste of time.]

Good that someone else seems him as that and not just say hes a villian . The man literally put himself at harm to help others (while suffering so much himself ) yet most whove played it see him as evil. A man who wants to help the sick who have no life , a dream world where they can actually live unlike in reality. And we help the ipc we have no room to talk on whose a villian. I hope he gets help beacus he clearly has alot of trauma and still manages to achieve his dream of helping those who suffer . And that he and Robin get to meet again one day

And... i don't feel that here. The final battle is absolute hype with the using the Express as an attack, while the crew shout awesome lines, and while Robin is singing? So much fun.
And The video was not only edited to exclude the battle... but Bran seemed bored and frustrated.

Sunday is definitely my favourite antagonist so far, he’s so complex and well developed
I mean, there's not much competition in Star Rail. The only other main villains in Star Rail are Cocolia and Phantylia. Cocolia is fine, but we don't delve too much into her, and Phantylia just appears out of nowhere.

I love Bran, one of my favorite Hoyo CCs but...I dont know it genuinely feels like he doesnt like the game anymore. 😅
I mean I never really got the sense that he ever loved it or anything but he just seems annoyed to be playing it more often than not these days. Maybe Im reading it wrong and maybe Im missing external context or something but this felt like a man just constantly pushing himself to reluctantly continue playing something he is totally checked out of.
Thats totally fine of course, we are all allowed to like and dislike whatever we want but for me I think Ill stick to watching his Genshin and Wuwa content for now because he seems to be having way more fun with those and thats when Bran is at his best.
For the record I do disagree with his perspective on 2.2, for me it absolutely was peak. The best story in HSR to this point and one of my favorite Hoyo stories in general BUT my main point is that I just want Bran to play things he enjoys.
Just saying, but he does not even feel like he's as interested in even Genshin for the past months, or even year at this point. The first time I noticed it was right around the latter half of version 3, just before Fontaine hype started going. I did not really mind it since it was nowhere near as bad as others very apparent burnout. Then came Star Rail. From the very very start, he already does not seem like he's interested... like at all. I've already said it in some of his past videos, but I really am surprised he is still "playing" (I'm using "playing" very loosely here) HSR. I honestly believed that he should have just dropped the game after version 1.2.

Because he was stuck in it for SO LONG live. His team wasn't built and he chose wrong units too.

@@digojez yeah um he didn't want to. He said he doesn't play the game for combat and that it doesn't appeal to him AT ALL and stressssed that line lol. He said he only plays for the story and that the game should add a "story difficulty" for players like him who don't build character or care about relics and stuff.

I love the analogy of Robin and Sunday with the bird, the bird symbolizes the inhabitants of Penacony. Robin wishes for them to have freedom, while Sunday wishes for them to stay in the dream as he sees it as the safer and better option, this whole thing is kind of like all the way back in Belobog with Svarog and the underground citizens.
Yes, this was Peak writing, it wasn't perfect, but this is night and day from the Xianzhou's story, way better and from this point on need to keep seeing equal or better writing for interludes and main acts. The pacing was done so well, and the structure was strong. I think bran was in a rush and anxious so he couldn't appreciate the story, constantly biting his fingernails, this is just my criticism as well.

I love how in the end of stream he talks about lowering difficulty, and that he only plays for the story and not endgame. If that’s the case it’s a personal problem not the games problem that it’s hard.

I respect your opinion Bran but I cannot disagree more.
Penacony's story was GOLD(IMO), and while I agree it was long I don't think that actually changes much. Nothing stops you from splitting it up yourself, which you DID given you came back to this quest 3 separate times. And dividing it into separate patches wouldn't actually change anything besides FORCING you to consume it slower.
To be completely honest watching the full stream makes it seem like you weren't even very interested, the only times you show much interest at all were during the cinematics. And you open by talking about there still being three hours left, which makes it sound less like you actually WANT to see the ending and more like you're "getting it done" before 2.3 releases, and its not surprising that people seem "dissatisfied" with your takes given that you seemed almost entirely disinterested from the start. If you approach any lengthy story with that attitude of course you'll hate it.
Hell I'd know. My family once sat down to watch LOTR and I obviously joined them(Wouldn't miss family movie time) and literally fell asleep because its almost four hours and I had no interest in the actual story besides "well my family is watching it and I should join them". Had you asked the me who was still awake at the 2 hour mark my opinion I would have probably called it a dragging snooze fest that feels like its intentionally extending every scene to be as painfully long as possible.

It's really funny comparing this to his love of wuwa's story.
I think it's because WuWu is a new and fresh game; and a lot of CC's are in their honeymoon phase with WuWu rn so their overall enjoyment increases when playing, so even if the story is bad (also the eng voice acting 💀) people will still enjoy it. Personally, I thought WuWu's story was 💩 and many parts made absolutely no sense.

I play Genshin from day1 and HSR beat the shit out of Genshin writting, even that new 4.7 story was very mid when I actually expected something massive from Dain quest

it's a little wild considering how much wuwa's story sucks until you get to meet encore and aelto [because they are actually likable characters I enjoyed being around] and then it gets actual story-good when you get to play as jiyan [yes, I don't think it got good when scar appeared] - and this is all at the VERY END of the story. so if anything has pacing issues, it's uh...it's wuwa. [and me saying this doesn't make me a ~hater, I've been playing wuwa every day and love it, I just think the story and character writing /overall/ is pretty bad. and if that one scar fanboy follows me here to start mansplaining "how stories work" again, fuck you in advance.]
As someone who plays frankly too many gacha games and hang around in those communities discord servers and the likes I can confidently say that this is a prime example of someone burning themselves out on a game by not pacing themselves and then blaming the game for it. You see this sh*t all the time with people who plays Genshin religiously and then quits and starts trash talking the game even though it was their own fault for feeling this way to begin with.
Bruh, I knew someone from FGO community who always grinding for Bonds (and those things taken a long time to do/ a lot grinding).
He almost got all 5* Characters Bonds on Lvl 10, and one day he just quit.
Like obviously you would feel the burn if you just does the same thing again and again for a game that basically can be played throughout a month before new content came.

Sorry but i just couldn't understand wtf is bad pacing means, Or why the quest should be split into few patches when we can split our playthrough instead. Maybe that's just a polite way to say the quest is a boring long unskippable yapping sessions?
no fr genshin quests are usually this long and he plays them but there was also a big gap between this part and the last time he played this quest so i just think he isnt very interested in it
Bad pacing for me is when a 8+ hour quest has multiple parts that are engaging but following is unnecessary filler, fluff or repetitive talk (which happened a lot during this one at least imo), I feel like splitting this into even 2 patches, with maybe less filler and a couple extra cutscenes would have been better, for me, this kinda style works for a lot of people, but I did just end up getting bored by like hour 5/6 of the quest total, and a lot of people say the end payoff is worth it, which for them it might be, but if I have to get through 8 hours of what I'd personally consider monotonous, an hour of greatness isn't as worth it at that point. I get that it's a hot take, but my take none the less

Hi Bran, I'm sorry if this will sound rude but I really wanna voice some of my concerns towards your recent Star Rail videos.
You are my favorite person to follow when it comes to paying attention to the story and being genuinely interested in what's happening on your screen. Likewise, I enjoy seeing your enthusiastic and in-depth analysis on content you are presented with; often you end up making interesting theories which end up being true - which is amazing and only solidifies you as a guy you go to for experiencing the story together.
That said, the way you played through this quest in particular was rather uncomfortable to watch. I didn't sense much enthusiasm, but rather a lack of interest, as well as willing to finish the story as quick as possible while constantly expressing frustration whenever it keeps on raising new problems (and God forbid the game throws some gameplay at you).
I understand that you didn't come here for gameplay. And I do get that the pacing wasn't the best. I actually agree that many things could've been left out completely - mainly the filler-ish contest arc. But still, you use this pacing issue to later downplay every genuinely amazing thing about this quest (which you aren't very enthusiastic about either), because, frankly speaking - it feels like you don't care much at this point, you just want to get it over with. Honestly, it almost feels like a chore at this point, which is very regrettable.
I get that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm not willing to argue who's in the right and who's in the wrong. Partially, I agree about many concerns that you've raised. Once again - the filler arc should've been nuked to oblivion and I think we both stand by it. And yet, returning to the reason why I'm even making this comment - I don't feel like I'm watching the same guy who's actually interested in the story anymore. I love this game a lot and it's simply sad to see how frustrated you get about every major aspect of it. And I don't want you to hide behind the mask and express toxic positivity too. So how about taking a break from this game? You can comeback anytime when you actually feel like doing the story, so there wouldn't be any pressure to rush things; you'll be able to take your time and most-importantly - pay attention.
Now, I wouldn't say that you didn't pay attention. But the Japan trip clearly affected your perception of this quest by a lot. And it clearly shows when you didn't initially pick Misha as a flaw to this fairy tale story the game presented you with. Some will call it a stretch, but I really felt like pointing that out anyway, because I know that you possess an amazing attention span and usually clutch these types of questions easily. At the end of the day, I want you to enjoy what you do - and if I feel like I'm watching a guy get constantly frustrated over so many things - it's naturally for me to get frustrated too as a viewer.
Hopefully you'll take these things into account!

with 2.2 it was more rough for him because not only did he want to do it before going to Japan so did as much as he could, but he basically did the final section a whole month later with most of engagement gone at that point

Fun fact: I watched this live and at some point when Bran got to the last bosses (the trio + both Sunday battles), I found it unwatchable with the incessant "I'm weak because I don't play, but the fights are long and boring and too hard".
I didn't even come to the video because I thought that might've been just me, turns out a lot of other people had similar feelings. Makes me feel mildly validated and mildly sad, because Bran's content was always pretty damn chill and positive and he kept his eye out for interesting lore tidbits / details.

I don't think Bran necessarily hates Honkai Star Rail like lots of the comments are suggesting, right now there's a lot going on in gaming, lot's of wuthering waves content, genshin updates and ext, content burnout is real, this for him was probably an off day, we all have them. paired with perhaps a lack of enthusiasm and priority, as well as a big break between quests. Clearly he wasn't feeling it for whatever reason and wasn't in the mood.
I've watched Bran for so long because I love seeing his enthusiasm and interaction with the quests. The penacony finale is my favourite hoyo quest for lore, animations and storytelling so of course its a little disappointing to see someone usually so full of energy lacking the passion for it, but its not a valid enough reason to send hate to him, whatever happened to being constructive?
Hopefully Bran is able to take a break from things like star rail and rejuvinate from whatever content burnout or lack of energy this is while focusing on what's more important and enjoyable to him.

If he didn't enjoy it that's on him, and it has to be uploaded because everyone's expecting a continuation. Hi, what I am about to say probably won't interest anyone, but here goes: Honkai Star Rail from my humble opinion is a game to enjoy slowly. It's very easy to want to rush because almost all the community is in Penacony or has already done all the missions...and somehow you feel that “you're behind”. I say this because it has happened to me and I had to stop and think about the reason why I play it: it's mainly for the story. And I love it, it's exciting, but also convoluted and I understand that this can saturate many players. There is a lot of content, a lot of story clues to keep in mind, but nothing is left over.
I've been playing for a few months now. A couple of days ago I managed to beat Aventurine (Gepard, Fu Xuan, Clara and Asta if anyone is interested), 4 months ago I was able to pass the swarm...and I've been playing for 10 months. Of course there are things I still can't get through and I have a ton of quests to do, but I'm going slow because I want to enjoy myself and do things right.
I remember I started watching your videos because you seemed to really like it but if you're burnt out or playing out of obligation I think you should stop. If you intend to do the Penacony missions in one go, you're obviously going to get burnt out, because it's 8 hours in a row that you want to finish. Why are you in such a hurry? You don't have to beat any record.
Enjoy the trip and if you are tired you can continue at any other time.

The Archon Quest is divided through Chapters, which is then divided into Acts -> which is then divided through Parts that shows up when you made far enough progress through the Chapter's Act. These "Acts" and their "Parts" also appear in the Regional Word Quests to signify progress. They are a hint that you should get some rest.
HSR, there really are no "Parts" that signifies your major progress. So, you have to choose which time you have to stop and continue the quest at the next or an entirely different day. I learned this the hard way with the 2.0 quest. Don't push yourself into doing it when you start to feel annoyed and burnt out. Your complaint is literally the same with the others who binged the quest in one playthrough, spending 6 to 8 hours to accomplish. I did this quest in 4 days (2 or 3 if I had no IRL stuff to deal with).
I've read the comments and I agree with one of them. You are not alone in the list of content creators who are overly critical and unmotivated to play the HSR quest line, or any other game actually. For me, at least, it appears like doing this story quest exits your comfort zone. If a lot of people are noticing your discomfort doing this, then you should really take it into consideration, at least a little bit... Don't mind the yapping haters, just the ones that provide insightful suggestions. If you would like to play Genshin or some other game you seem interested in, it's better to prioritize THAT right now. Genshin, Starrail, Wuwa, or not, just any game you might be interested playing. Play what you think you would enjoy at this moment, what you are in the mood for and take a break when you need it. You don't need to rush any story content, play at your own pace and most importantly don't binge it in less than a day. Have a pleasant day, I hope this helped at least a little🙏🙏🙏
What I hate about most CC nowadays is they forgot we want to watch them playing the game, cause we enjoy playing it, not because it's the hot stuff that most people play.
Example for WuWa, most people play it now cause it the latest Gacha that just came out, but I don't think people watch CC playing it because it's a hot stuff (well partially), but they also want to see CC enjoying playing the game.
I remember when P3R came out some people only play it for around 4-6 hours or so, and never play it again after that.

I enjoyed penacony a lot and can't wait for the continuation with firefly, but what sometimes ruin it for me in this game is that some cutscenes the images and the compositions are so boring and stiff with dialogues that are so difficult to understand that lasts forever and the voice actors don't even help the situation, they all talk soooo SLOW with long pauses . I really like the voice actors and i do like pencony and i do think the cutscenes in the newer quests have improved compared to previous quests. Ah But i wish they rework on compositions and use different shots with different dialogues and not use the same image for an entire cutscene and make the VAs talk a lil faster...

I'm pretty sure the game devs in the livestream alluded to Acheron being a familiar person from another game. With Acheron actually revealing her name here actually confirms her as being from HI3, not even an expy. It's also confirmed with Welt and Acheron having a conversation and she talks about things that happened in her past, which both of them were on the same page or he knew what she was talking about (and vice versa).
It doesn't confirm that she is from HI3.

Hell, by APHO (a post honkai oddysey) which is basically part 3 of the story (part 1 ended, currently they are doing part 2, apho was kinda an 'in media res' where they jump forward in time in a sort of 'look at the future haha', Mei no longer has herrisher powers.
When those hi3 players mentioned her being the same, it's probably because her world followed the same path, as the sovereigns are shown to be analogous to herrishers, especially in the order they are told. In other words, she had the same start as hi3 Mei, but took a different path.

Blaming all problems of this storyline to Bran's "disinterest", while it clearly has major pacing and dialogue issues. Storytelling in general imo. I still like Penacony, but people hold it in too high regard because it's a good spectacle, ignoring all its writing problems. For example, Firefly's whole story is a mess rn, but it has some good emotion manipulation tactics and people think it's good because of it

@TheMattVis Maybe bran didn't experience quest in the best way possible, but it still doesn't really change the fact that pacing is bad. Bird scene repeated trice. The part with "past, present, future" while visually cool, is redundant and actively harming sunday's character as an understandable antagonist. All acheron's scenes with tiernan have awful dialogue (except for the last one). Whole damn segment with competition is basically useless and stalling. And while, yes, you can divide this quest into parts, it's not how usual hoyo presents their quests so it's understandable why so many people attempted to do it in one try (which should be the way to do this kind of patch-to-patch storytelling)

Bran literally felt the needed to rush cause he wants to catch up HSR livestream, he plays it with the feels of a ticking bomb exist within minute passed.
Sure the pacing bad or whatever any reason people said, but that would still be better if he doesn't play it under time limit and just play it using his own pace.
That's what most people complaint about, he doesn't have the privilege to complaint, if he doesn't does the game juatice by playing it normally.
You can't get mad your barbeque is raw if you rush the chef to cooked it under 5 minutes cause want to catch a bus, that's unfair to the chef.
The chef maybe bad and the food he cooked usually undercooked, but the way he complaint is not the same way as other that playing it in normal pace.
If they removed the unnecessary dialogue and just simplified it while keeping the important parts it would only take like 6 hours instead of 12 but i still loved the quest nonetheless

I honestly don't like the pacing as well. I love the story though don't get me wrong. I wish they just put the final part on 2.3 instead and finish it until getting back to the Astral Express and decide for the next destination. Maybe they want a different way since Genshin does that 😅

I really hope the criticism Bran is getting for his opinion on this quest doesn’t stain his view on the story as a whole.
Sure, it’s a bit frustrating as a viewer when he skips over certain dialogue (such as slight nods to Honkai impact with welt or Himekawa) etc but this story was a lot longer than it really needed to be imo

The thing that is generating this heat is how he just skipped everything and didn't pay enough attention to the story.
The impression it gives is that it is a burden and he wants to do anything but HSR. Because of that, the overall experience gets worse for the viewer, especially those who like the story, who saw the exciting thumbnail only to see the complete opposite, it's frustrating to say the least.
Boothil is the one who tells BS that Acheron is an Emanator that should not exist aka an Emanator of Nihility . Then he later says that he was surprised when BS revealed that to him. Like wtf even?
- after BS tells us that we are still in the dream and we meet up with Acheron. Acheron says that only people who have awakened from Ena's dream can enter this place. But once the dialogues over you see bunch of npc still in Ena's dream right infront of you. It legit makes no sense. Why even write that line if you are not gonna follow it?
- acheron says their goal is inspire people to save themselves. All the time the story spends on unnecessarily long dialogues repeating the same story in different ways, it doesn't focus on the part that's actually important. Who tf did they inspire to save themselves anyway?
- Robin says "you have heard their cries. This is not what they want* - whose cries? 🤡
- Himeko says *witness the will of the weak* whose will? Himekos or Galaxy rangers? And how tf are they weak. The stiey didn't even focus on actual weak people.
It spends so much time on heroes and doesn't give cent of attention to the people they claim they want to protect that none of their words have any weight to them. It's just fancy dialogues that sound cool but nothing to show for it.
Even the truth they were hyping for 2 patches wasn't that impressive.

@@runelt99 I have talked about this in one of the replies here and it's too long to explain. TLDR - it's not that you don't know what they are referring to or how certain things are done, but it's how they spend 10+hrs explaining the history and yapping over and over again but the *actual plan of saving Penacony* was nothing more than just 2-3 lines with 10s cutscene to show for it. And with that in mind Penacony is not a peak story telling, penacony long arse yapping doesn't mean people are hating on it just got the sake of it or lack attention span. It's being called out for right reasons.

Legit have to agree with him on pacing in this. I just started recently and was able to get through the first worlds fine, but with Penacony, it's just agonizingly long. I'm splitting it over multiple days as well. I have to. But there's so much dialogue that it gets miserable, and the voices in HSR compared to Genshin are incredibly slow paced with long pauses throughout a chunk of text. I end up skimming and skipping and it's still taking me multiple days to get through.
I'm not one to skip on dialogue but holy shit. There's this...antsy itch feeling of "omg get on with it" when characters talk. Like my leg is bouncing a thousand miles an hour while I'm playing. Firefly was one of THE most annoying characters because of how she was shoved in, then we got dragged around for no reason, they forced us to "be close to her," AND she wouldn't shut up. Like that whole thing was irritating to me and if we had a short introduction to her it would have cut most of that out and would have been better.
I'm not done with the Penacony quest just yet, but I know what happens going off of all the streamers I've seen. Seeing a lot of these streams go on for hours when so much of it is slow dialogue starts getting me bored and starts putting me to sleep. So Bran isn't wrong on this, at least for some of the gamers playing this. Penacony is far too long, especially with all the content they've added in when adding it. Like I'm swamped with quests (part of being a beginner, but Penacony was by far the largest to add in). But if they just cut them into sections to allow everyone time for it to seep in it would be so much better and would allow players to explore, do quests, do the events, etc.
Yet you yap as much as the characters, yet in the game everything is either plot or character relevant, and you just yap about how you didn't like all that. All i hear is "i barely read any book in my life, stop with all the information"
@@So_Viet8032 Dude, people have a right to criticize. And I read books all the time, I actually really enjoy reading. That's why this quest is so painful to go through. For someone who is new to the franchise and the game, it's an informational dump that's got far too much in it. Firefly's dialogue is not purely lore and it could have been cut down, and that's only one example. I get you like the game and I'm not saying it's a bad game, but there's no reason to be a dick about it.

The cutscenes were very beautiful, uplifting and epic but they don't compensate for mediocre writing (I liked it, but I completely understand why some didn't)
@@nanawritesstuff I can't say I agree, I played the game in about 1 week, the only pressure I had to finish was the Clockie event, so when I felt like I was starting to lose interest in the story I stopped to recharge my batteries. This time/break made me enjoy the story even more as opposed to trying to force myself to finish everything when I was no longer paying attention.

It's added every 2 Phase (around 1 month) so people can playing it and pacing it alone.
Bran even starting this quest to catch HSR monthly Livestream, which basically a signpost of end month cause the new Phase/Version usually would be added 10 days after the Livestream.
You literally still have 10 days to catch up and pacing the story, and watch the Livestream VOD later.
Bran, I think it's obvious at this point that you don't enjoy HSR as a game... which is fine! You may say that the issue here is the "pacing of the story" (which it is from a story telling perspective) but it shows that there's more to your personal dissatisfaction than simply just that. I've never seen you skip over voice lines (pacing issues, yes), but here you did a lot. Combat is part of story in Genshin as well, yet here it's a problem. You rarely play HSR which, again, is fine if you wanna be a casual, story-oriented HSR player, yet it shows that you are waiting for specific parts to pass in story so you can "get to the good stuff". Hope you won't take this the wrong way and just rethink your feeling towards the game as a whole and take a long break to see if you like the game or not. Thankfully, you can always come back to the game, if you really want!
