    Great video Alex! My older brother used to say ,experience is the best teacher! This is a prime example, you used your experience working on these boards, not wasting time and moving on another job. This how you make money and keep the work rolling in ! You should write a book but when would you have time? I believe every video you do ,a page of that book is written !

      they either never opened up the laptop or they see the 'damage' (corrosion) and think that its not fixable or takes too much effort to fix. i say bad judgement on their part if this is the case. could also be they simply dont posses the skill level to fix it.. even though its labeled a repair shop. in that case, its great judgement to say no and lie to costumer.
      although if they lie to keep their shop rating high its bad imo, just tell the costumer that they cant fix it or whatever and sent the costumer to a shop or person who can fix it.
      That means they have connections to even better skilled repair shop(s).

    Hey, just wanted to say, he didn't fail he did the right thing.
    If you see liquid damage, and you're not a board repair person. Don't even bother removing the traces, if you're not able to fix it properly let the traces be so a more qualified person takes care of it, the issue with corrosion is that it can go under the chip.
    If you remove the traces that will just make the thing hard for the board repair person.
    It's already complicated enough without the schematics , don't remove the only clue to where the damage may be.

    • @pubbiehive
      @pubbiehive Год назад +3

      A lot of repair shops don't bother dealing with liquid damaged units, even if you replaced this mainboard with a new one the laptop might still be wonky. At least where I live, repair shops have to guarantee the function of the unit for 90 days after a repair, which creates problems when dealing with units damaged by liquid.

    • @Neo_AIO
      @Neo_AIO Год назад +3

      @@pubbiehive 6 months in France for the warranty.
      Also, a shop that only changes the board is not a repair shop but a servicing shop.
      What i meant when i said that is that the work on a customer appliance shouldn't be done at the detriment of the ability of said customer to have it serviced and repaired elsewhere.
      Cleaning the board means you lower the chances that the customer has it's appliance repaired.If you're not able to repair it properly then don't even try or at last if you do take photos of where you clean and give it to the customer so the next shop has the same starting point.
      Some "repair" shops butcher the board and leave the client whiteout options when they fail...
      In our case for liquid damage we repair the board with the corrosion on it,remplace everything that has been touched and ultrasonic and bake it after so no humidity is left... And it works quite well.
      Of course, we don't repair what's too heavily damaged unless it's for data.

    That's one of the customer's worry about repair places that charge diagnostic fee, bench fee, or repair attempt fee. Some repair store, they don't bother diagnosing or even trying to work on the customer's computer and still charging diagnostic / repair attempt fee. We always send photos to the customer of their device that we work on and tell them why we can't fix their device. To show the customer that we really worked or tried to fix their device but no luck. That's why we are confident to charge diagnostic / repair attempt fee.
