Your apartment is adorable. I have just a couple of ideas. Hang your small mirrow over your shoe storage. Covering the electrical box is perfectly OK. Hang a print over your dresser. Add a full mirrow standing in the corner of your bedroom opposite your night stand corner. It will add lots of light in your bedroom. Putting the legs back on your dresser will work fine. You may get tired of getting to your bottom drawers that are basically on the floor.

Personally, I love the vlogs wherein you move in or decorate. I’m a 62 year old university professor and yet I still have a deep fondness for the early days of my life wherein I was the one doing all of the “big girl things”. I also love decorating and organizing though I do very little of it these days as I’m widowed, empty nested, and tired. Lol so one summer night I came to RUclips searching for dorm room decorating vlogs (I chose that because you young kids know about styles, etc. that we older girls aren’t aware of. I watched your Michigan move in vlog and have been watching ever since. Your new apartment is coming together beautifully and you have given me some great ideas for my own downsized living space. Your shopping trips make me want to redo my entire place. This summer, I just might do that. But first, I need to learn your mad furniture building skills because that sort of thing is definitely not my gift. Lol
Good luck on finding the right job there in D.C. I visited there with my colleagues and students a few years ago and found it to be a very inspiring city. But please continue to be careful because we also found it to be a very dangerous city. But what wonderful opportunities await you there. I look forward to seeing all of it come to fruition.
Charlotte everything looks great! Im so glad you held out for a replacement couch instead of an easy fix. How exciting to have your own place and to be on your own! Im 69 and been married for 51 years. Married right out of high school. Im perfectly happy, but would have loved to have been on my own for awhile just to see what it was like. Anyway, you're doing a great job! Love, love, love your videos! Keep them coming.
Just an idea…If you turn the 8 cube organiser in the closet onto its side you could still use the hanging space above it for shorter tops!

Great video. I’ve seen people hang a mirror or cute print over electrical panels to hide them and it would fill up that entryway space too. 😊

Hi Charlotte, im impressed by how great everything is coming together and the way it all fits so well. You are definitely way better than I when building all of your furniture pieces. Happy you stood your ground and told them you didn't want a fix and wanted a new couch, you didn't pay for something that was damaged and they should not have expected you too. Your doing so good at getting everything done and your apartment is looking so beautiful!
Yes definitely stay away from area's you don't feel safe in.

A mirror above your shoe rack would be an awesome addition to a small hallway. It would cover up your electrical panel as well make the space feel lighter and bigger.

It amazes me the money spent by this young lady for her first apartment. She must have a good job. When I first moved to DC in my early twenties, I was in an efficiency apartment and had some “hand me down” furniture and dishes. And I had a very good job! It took years to move on up to better housing until I finally bought my first home,,,later a beautiful condo which is nicely decorated and quite luxurious. But not something I was able to achieve at a young (early twenties) age. And most of my friends and colleagues back in the day were struggling like me. None of this is to critique…in fact I am impressed and happy for you to be able to have such a nice place full of luxuries. I guess I am just left amazed how you are able to spend so much money..
True. 😊 although she mentioned in her previous life update/q&a that she intentionally saved money from her previous job before resigning and also while she's still also earning from her being a content creator. She's still looking for a 9-5 job in DC now. 😊
Love your setup and your open layout apartment. I just moved into a modern apartment also. I am unable to do this but you should locate a desk or take your existing desk and move it directly against the back of the couch. You might have to move the couch a smidge closer to the tv.

I have a few recommendations but all sent with love!
Hang a print or mirror over your electrical panel, so nice to be able to do a final outfit/ makeup check on the way out and having mirrors in different places will be helpful to make sure you look good in all the different lighting. Mirrors also reflect light and make your space feel bigger and brighter! I saw an above comment where someone mentioned moving your tall mirror over by your dresser and I second that! Again because they reflect the light and having it across from the big windows in your living space will help reflect the light into your room making it feel bigger and brighter 🤩 please do a part three! Fully invested at this point 😂🫶🏼
Love the suggestions!! There isn’t enough room by the dresser for the big mirror 😫 but I’m def gonna do a part 3 with a nice workaround!
Very cute! I would look for a mirror to hang over the utility box in the front entry. Would make it look nicer and functional to do a quick check before leaving the house ❤
Yes, I also think a big art print ( tall and thin) leaning on the table or hung , but big enough to cover the electrical box. Everything looks great!

Hello Charlotte. Congratulations on your new flat. :) Had you thought of adding a few vintage or secondhand pieces perhaps? It would add a little character. :) I would suggest that you also could buy some secondhand furniture but I realise it might be too difficult getting it up to your flat alone. But maybe some artwork would be possible? I am English, and we tend to decorate in stages rather than all at once which has the advantage of being cheaper too. Anyway, enjoy your flat, I enjoy your videos and your optimism. All best wishes. 💛

Hey Charlotte! Everything is coming along so great! Two helpful tips. Furniture felt pads, they will prevent scratches on the floor and easier to slide things. And maybe don't light the candles near the electrical box for safety reasons. Loving these videos, so happy for you!

Enjoying what I hope is a series. I live in England no way I would never live in the US but I love watching people creatung now homes and enjoying new lives. Plus great idea to keep bread and bagels fresh esp in summer.
The green chairs would be cute dining chairs. Get a small round pedestal table for them. It could be your desk as well
Pro tip put ice on the curling part of the rug it will flatten out
Also for the bathroom vanity area consider a lazy susan to hold all the bits easy functional and will blend in
I like your apartment. You could have extra counter top space if you would add underneath the counter items such as a paper towel holder, etc.

Your apartament looks so cute it's coming together very well! I think you should put a tall mirror above your shoe rack to cover up the eletrical box, and a tall mirror would make the space feel bigger!
I'm old enough to be your grandmother and I am so impressed with your ability to put together furniture. So many people your age are unable to do that. I hope you called Amazon regarding how late your dresser is in arriving. They will give you a credit of some amount for late deliveries if it is a prime purchase.

Great video! I totally get the frustration of the time to build the desk. I’m 65, so my adult daughter helped me put together a desk that stated it would take under two hours,( it was closer to five!)
Just a suggestion but I would move the chairs around by the couch,( group seating) and just have the console table behind the couch. I like the idea of a rolling island to give you another counter top. Either way the apartment is looking amazing! Love how the bedroom is coming along!

Have you considered getting a thin entryway table for where the shoe rack is and putting the shoe rack on the wall where the umbrella and purse are hanging up? I think that'll help with filling in the space better!

It all looks so lovely Charlotte, you're doing a great job. A small tip, you'll want to remove those little white stickers (The ones that tell you which piece goes where in the directions) from your furniture sooner rather then later or they will leave a sticky residue on your furniture. Also, welcome to the DMV!

Hi ladybug!! For the mirror I think it would be nice to put the dresser stands back on the dresser to make it higher since it so close to your bed I figure the bottom drawers would be easier to reach if they were raised a bit. But also when you hang mirror up maybe the dresser being higher would eliminate a gap between your dresser and the mirror once it’s on wall and so you can be in mirror more comfortably while standing up? And for the end of your video, personal preference I’d love the move in/ decorate w me content to be in one video but also I just get excited seeing your videos so I’ll take what I can get 😂😂💕💕💕 excited for your next one!!
You also can just shorten the rope where the plank is hanging on. Than it hangs a bit higher and you can use both. But it looks pretty cute the way it is now 😃😘

Live and learn, but Bob's is famous for that. I had several pieces of furniture delivered once - 9 pieces, and only 2 chairs and the couch weren't damaged. Four chairs, table and entertainment center were all damaged and I had a helluva time getting them replaced.

Roll the rug end the opposite way and that takes out the end from curling so take off the wr items you put on the end of the rug
Maybe add risers to bed to store off season clothes and a picture stand a strong one for dresser mirror. Your decor looks great! I wish i could put together a dresser!! I love rattan..is it mdf material on inside of dresser? If it is i cant get one..allergic 😢..Great Job!!persistence pays off!!!💪🏽

Amazon has rug corners that can be adhered to the corners of the bottom of your rug to prevent curling...fyi. They work well. I use them on all my rugs where there's high traffic.
