Helena has turned a dull pail studio apartment into a jewel-toned ultra-functional home and hangout destination. Nearly every inch of her apartment has been carefully outfitted with custom furniture, handmade textiles, art objects, and playful paint patterns. I love that her grandma bought her a beautiful painting when she was a child, what a cool thing to do! Obviously a lot of art appreciation in her genes
Helena is incredible. Other things in the apartment that she hand made:
the bathroom cabinet (she pieced and glued plywood ends to make that wood pattern and then made it curve!!!)
the woven footstool

the custom banquette seating in the kitchen
the giant cross stitch

the squirrel sculpture on the wall
the earrings she's wearing
Almost every single thing in that apartment was made or edited by Helena to be exactly what she needed for the space. She even finds and alters furniture and art for her friends' apartments. She's so cool!!!

Simply amazing - it's physically small but the colour, the art and extending EVERYTHING up to the ceiling makes it feel HUGE.

This is by far the most awesome studio apartment I've ever seen. It's decorated so beautifully with so many wonderful details. The colours and textures and art -amazing. It's so far from the antiseptic white box that it started out being. Fabulous!🥰

yes! I don't think I can stomach one more 'tour' in the same old boring neutral...it's so unimaginative, boring, cliche' like everything bought at target. BLAH!
Why throw insults? Some people find bright spaces to be overwhelming/overstimulating. Maximalist is not the only design style for a reason 😊.

I like how creative she is and the thought that she put into designing her space. She is so good at allowing her space to be a reflection of who she is. And I love that she restored the sewing machine that she found. The fact that she worked with her dad to build the surround for the sewing machine is so sweet. Plus it turned out well and looks so good.
I love how her bed is decorated! A murphy bed can actually look nice, I’m shook! I also love all the colors and the tones used. Very artistic.
I am an English Professor so have massive amounts of books. Literature that I use to teach with, go to my office; however, I still need bookcases at home. I found a Murphy Bed that could be designed with bookcase doors. When closed, my office looks great and when open the room serves as a great guestroom.
Not my style of decoration, a bit too busy for me, but very well designed and laid out. You can tell she loves her home.
I appreciate how she explained her process and methods so carefully. It takes a lot of thought and careful calculation to make a small space work so well. A lot of times people gloss over that.

Love the table and Murphy bed. While the style is too chaotic for me, you get the sense that it’s just what she wanted and that it fills her with joy. At the end of the day, it’s all that matters. It’s her space. Also kudos for making those cabinets work.

this is one of my favorite interiors i've ever seen! Helena has creativity in abundance!! I love her home, plus handmaking several of her designs, the bed, the bookcases and the antique Singer sewing machine cabinet and top to say the least. She is an artist!

Wonderful to see a consciously realized, sensibility honored - life, and its reflection (almost without interruption or compromise ) in one's private dwelling. That's when spaces are alive and interesting. The *scale of Helena's apartment is actually gracious, albeit intimate, and I appreciate her affinity for the deep, darker greens - very warm. There is real skill in eclectic/excessive style and Helena has nailed it. Some would try and it would be a mess, but this has been skillfully curated and is a warm and welcoming home. I imagine walking around this space with child’s eyes and all the details being awe inspiring. Reinvention (ceiling light shade, table, sewing machine etc), colour blocking, textures and meaningful items make this an energizing space. Nice nod to making existing kitchen cabinets work by adding depth to the rest of the kitchen.

I am a lover of art and this is the first of its type among the numerous i have seen which just explodes art in every bit of it....i had never yet felt pushed to comment on any earlier house tours videos I have seen yet but for this particular one! The way she decorated definitely shows her creative side. I tend to be more of a minimalist when decorating, but this is the 1st maximalist decor that doesn't make my head hurt.
