This is the best tutorial of this type of project ,watched dozens, so having done the ground work, believe me, this is the one . Thank you, your voice, diction etc., so explicit and easy to listen to.Look forward to the next one .Thank you so much.
This is my first time to see any of your videos and this is an old machine so watching for me, was like a skipping record, however , this was absolutely gorgeous, you could turn that into a brooch. My goodness the ladies at my church would be drooling for that kind of thing if they like that kind of thing. It was very stylish and looked very expensive. A wonderful job.Thank You.
Absolutely beautiful. I was always so afraid to try...it looked so hard & I expect perfection from myself. Many years ago they werent using any type of fabric or so. Then I started stiffening wool felt and trying to make them that way (many years ago ) because I knew their was a better way or easier way....then covering the back in real thin leather. Thank heaven for stiff stuff or stiffened felt 😃. I basically just been doing a basic design for many years, but after watching your video by accident today.....I am going to try your way. I hope all goes well...because your pattern and work is gorgeous. I love, love, love it. YEAH SOMETHING NEW TOO!
Wow, this tutorial is fantastic. Your explanation and visual technique makes it so easy to understand. Can't wait to get started with one for myself. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
This is just what I needed Thank you Allie, Your the best! PS The video was not too long really. We would have waited for you to finish the whole project.
Hi Deborah, yes we do try to reply to most of the questions asked. We do have a few hundred colors of delicas on TheBeadCo website (see link in description). Thanks!
Very nice, my only concern is that the leather in the back may give a cheap touch to the work... could this be done without stiching it on to some material?
Yes the really inexpensive ones tend to break (snap), and the English needles should not snap. Even so, they are still relatively inexpensive (packs of 20 for $1.99 or so).
Not positive as Allie says she had them for over 15 years, but they may be Slip-n-snip scissors. We do not currently carry them but you should be able to find them online or in craft stores.
Thank you for this tutorial. I am very new to bead embroidery and I have a doubt: you pick up and sew through 3 seed beads each time, how can you be sure to obtain an even number of seed beads to work the peyote stitch? What if The beads are in odd number? Thank you for the answer. Regards, Antonella
Hi Antonella, You're correct! This is an old tutorial I did years ago, and I should have used two Delicas at a time to ensure the even count! Nice catch! 😃👍🏼
Lovely. Would you please let me know what size bicones you're using? And if this color cab is still available? Nothing is showing up in the itemized list that is linked. Thank you for your efforts and time 😊

I enjoyed your video and thank you as I just received some delicas from my wonderful sister-in-law. As a rank amateur I attempted my first beading on a cabochon. Had trouble getting the second row to curve up over the sides of the cab, even when pulling tight. Can you tell me what I have done wrong? Using size 11 delicas in two colors, one is a matte, the other a crystal; wondering if that has anything to do with it.
Thank you for an excellent tutorial, with details I could not find in any other tutorials: how to add Lacy Stuff, how to add Ultrasuede, when to glue, and so on. Some people say that you need to sew through the Ultrasuede. What is your opinion on this? Thank you.
I have made quite a few of these but never have I seen it done like this. I will try it for sure since it is my favorite thing to make right now. Do you ever reply to the questions people ask? Does your company have a good supply of Delicas? Thank you great tut.!
Hi. I have one more question I was hoping you could help me with. Once the time comes to glue the Ultrasuede onto the stiff stuff, what type of glue should I use? Would E-6000 work well as it does with attaching the cab to the stiff stuff, or should I use a different type of glue? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Shawn
Hi Shawn, yes you can use the E-6000 for gluing the Ultrasuede as well. E-6000 is great because you can use it for nearly every adhesive application, rather than having to stock numerous different glues.
Hi Allie. I have a quick question. If I wanted to start the bottom base row of the peyote with 8/0 delicas and then transition up with 11/0's (sort of like when transitioning to 15/0 rounds to pull the work tighter), how would I do that? Would I use two 11/0 delicas at a time between the 8/0's as Im working up the peyote? Thanks for any help you can give me. Shawn
I need some advice. I bought 9 aromatherapy lockets with 2 diffuser pads each. When I got them, I realized that the way they open would make it impossible for me to attach them to a beaded wire necklace. I need help in figuring out how to attach them to a beaded necklace so that a customer can easily open and close it. Please get back to me ASAP. My name is Vicki
Hi Vicki, if you can send us an email with close up photos of the locket and an explanation of what you're trying to do, one of our staff will be able to advise you. Email: info@potomacbeads.com
+Potomac Bead Company: Sorry as I was not clear. I want to make a necklace for a 12-inch doll using a quite small cabochon for the necklace. Can cabochons be found that would be appropriately sized for this purpose? And can the same technique be used? Thank you.
Hi Brenda, yes the same technique could be used, and there are smaller cabochons available. We don't tend to stock a whole lot of really small cabs, but we have some druzy agate cabochons in about 10mm, as well as crystal rivoli in 10mm, either of which might work for that purpose.
Potomac Bead Company I did manage to figure it out with the peyote, but it was frightening at first, as I was worried that I would wreck my first project.
Would have been a good idea to show how to finish it with the peyote as not everyone is as experienced as some might be and wouldn't have a clue as to how you went about that little task....to finish the peyote. Also if you are going to do a project how about finishing it with the bail and not leave us in limbo with it. geeze
Kalin Rivera you could but not sure it would hold up very well, and would advise you to use the Ultrasuede that is pretty standard for these types of projects.
She is going directly through where she went through the first time, back 3 beads. I prefer to backstitch by putting 3 beads on and sewing back through the last one. It does require having a good idea what the size of one bead is though. If you go back through all three beads you can use the thread on the back to see where you need to come up. Since it's covered you don't see it it's not crucial if you go back 1, 2 or all three beads, one is just a tiny bit smoother.
This is the best tutorial of this type of project ,watched dozens, so having done the ground work, believe me, this is the one . Thank you, your voice, diction etc., so explicit and easy to listen to.Look forward to the next one .Thank you so much.
An exceptionally clear video without all the annoying chatter that one finds on many beading videos.

Easy to understand tutorial! All your tutorials are like that, thats why I really like watching them :) Thank you!
Great video! You've made it so clear compared to all the books & diagrams I've seen.
I find it much easier to e6000 the cab down to the backing material and work in groups of 4. it eliminates the need for counting all together.
I watched a different video, and it didn't help me much, and came to yours, and it was great. Thank you.
Wow, this tutorial is fantastic. Your explanation and visual technique makes it so easy to understand. Can't wait to get started with one for myself.
Thank you for sharing your expertise.
A tip : watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Brooks Finnegan yup, been using flixzone for months myself :D
@Brooks Finnegan yea, I have been using Flixzone for months myself :)
A very well done tutorial, I found the pacing and sound levels just fine, the narrator has a nice pleasant voice. Thanks!
That is a gorgeous cabachon!
Thank you so much :)
This is just what I needed
Thank you Allie, Your the best! PS The video was not too long really. We would have waited for you to finish the whole project.
You are welcome!
I would have happily waited to watch the whole project completed in some way no matter which bail was chosen to be used.
Beautiful ! I just wish there was a beginner video of this !! I love it !

this is an excellent tutorial for beginners.I am dying to try, thanks so kindly for sharing this

Огромное спасибо.Очень понятно и доступно.Есть ли у вас ещё видиоматериалы?
This is a really wonderful tutorial!
you should show the finished product, this is really beautiful work

I'm wanting a video that shows how attach the bail on. I'm a beginner to all this beading so maybe you can recommend some videos. thank you.

What is the reply? Can you help please? Thanks.
You made several of these steps much more difficult than they needed to be for a beginner.
Thanks so much! can't imagine why I've tortured myself the last 2 years trying to bezel, this is so much easier!
Loved this. Thank u.
Excellent tutorial! What brand are the scissors you use in the vid?
I have Slip N Snips too !
good good good I form Thailand..
gorgeous. What is the stiffy stuff? and what size cab did you use? It would really make a lovely brooch.
The fabric on the back is called "Lacy's Stiff Stuff", and the Cab is 18x25mm
looked for how to do Peyote stitch on your recommended website and could not find it????

in Spain also called Miyuki. thank you

Probably, the only problem between 8/0 and 11/0 delicas is that they are significantly different in size, so you might need to experiment a bit.
Ok. Thank you

Pearls? Well the Miyuki seed beads are 11/0 delicas.
This was an excellent tutorial, I just wish she slow down a little, so I could understand her better, all in all a great video.
Thank you so much for this video :)
Beautiful work and thanks for sharing. . . would it be possible to shrink the size of this to use the pattern for a 12 inch doll? Thanks again. . .
+Brenda Mize I'm not sure I understand... 12" doll would be much larger than this cabochon.
+Potomac Bead Company: Sorry as I was not clear. I want to make a necklace for a 12-inch doll using a quite small cabochon for the necklace. Can cabochons be found that would be appropriately sized for this purpose? And can the same technique be used? Thank you.

+Potomac Bead Company Excellent, and thanks so much for your information.
How would you attach a pin to make this a brooch?
perfect i have tons of cabs
I like this video but there's one thing I miss. How do you put the cabochon on its chain?
That little bail at the top (loop of seed beads) has an opening, so you can just slide the chain through that opening like most other pendants.
can you please put the size of the pearls? so it is easier to translate. Thank you from Spain
What can you use instead of the stiff fabric & the other piece, I'm in the uk so this stuff wont be readily available
Heavy collar interfacing, or stiffened felt. Felt will tend to make clumpy thread bits, interfacing is best if you can find it, non adhesive.
Wish you had included the how to add the clasp to this video just see how it all fitted together, I feel stuck now that the project is almost done.
There are many different ways to end it. You can use a bail, a pearl enhancer, or make a loop using seed beads or peyote loop with seed beads.
Potomac Bead Company I did manage to figure it out with the peyote, but it was frightening at first, as I was worried that I would wreck my first project.
What is the technical name for the white stuff you are sewing beads directly onto?
Is it a kind of stiff felt?
Yes it is relatively stiff and is called "Lacy's Stuff Stuff"
Potomac Bead Company beading foundation

Can you use felt with this project
Kalin Rivera you could but not sure it would hold up very well, and would advise you to use the Ultrasuede that is pretty standard for these types of projects.
Wish you'd showed a closer view of where you went in and out of each bead.

What kind of glue ?
+Debra Greene E-6000.
I've never beaded a cab by not gluing the cab down first. This seems backwards.
It's just a matter of preference. If you want to glue the cab first, it's fine too.
