I have had similar adventures with this plane including installing the connection on the receiver upside down. Moving forward I will no longer order planes until I have researched them more. Due to my stubbornness, I have bought a total of three of these, first one crashed due to electronics and ESC issue. Second one, pilot error, my buddy volunteered to repair and test fly it. The third one I installed an Spektrum AR10360, so it has SAFE/AS3X, what a pain to program, hope to test fly it this weekend, pending on weather.
You should use flight modes for flap Elevator mix so you can do it while flying. Also I flew my friends and didn't need the mix. I did the maiden with gyro off , 2nd into the flight I put the as3x mode on and was fine
Best of luck. Might want to check your CG on the fuselage marks instead of the wings, just to be safe. On my plane I got wildly different balance from one versus the other.
Well my maiden went....ok after watching the video I flew her around a little 2 tail heavy and on the second flight she cartwheeled in and there was some damage. Well I will be more mindful of her CG from now on as I wait for parts..
This plane does not need the flap-elevator mix that the manual recommends. I have a good two dozen flights on mine with 4000-5900mah packs. I have yet to figure out how Freewng concluded needing the mix.
When the nose gear arrives I will be starting over with this plane and will do a "REDO" video and will cover that. but for now they are at 90 degrees from one another.
Hey I have a question that you might be able to answer. I recently purchased an AR10360T for my 80mm Motion Tomcat and for whatever reason it won’t arm. I’ve updated my NX10 and checked for an update on the RX. It binds, and sends telemetry. But when I plug in the battery I get the initial beep, followed by the cell count beeps, and no arming beep. The controls don’t move. I contacted horizon and they sent me another one. That one also does the exact same thing. I’ve done everything I can think of (including watching your video on AS3X/Safe setup) and after fully setting it up it still doesn’t work. It should act as a sport RX even if AS3X isn’t set up. Any ideas? Thanks!
You gonna hate this... the servos plug in dark side servo leads up! I had the same issue. Plug the servos in opposite what your used to dark side towards the rx label!!! First time I have ever seen it that way.
@@FatGuyFliesRC Thanks! That’s the last thing I would’ve thought of. I’ll try that. It gets power from the ESC plugged in the normal way so should I keep the ESC plugged in the normal way or should I reverse that too?
I have watched three separate maiden flites with this airplane. One was near perfect. The other two ended in disaster. Do not get this bird low and slow. No high alpha on approach. The three mistake rool turns into one big mistake. Role out don't pull out. Best of luck to you. Cheers
Well it bit me on the second flight, I high alphaed TO much because I had the cg to far back and she cartwheeled in . VERY fixable with parts that I will be waiting on. Should have read all of you all comments BEFORE i went out today.
@@FatGuyFliesRC I would not suggest setting digital servos lower than 70%, it’s known to mess up the PPM signal dropping below 70%. I would suggest mechanically trimming the control surface.
FINALLY GOT THE RIGHT RECEIVER IN!!! and a surprise!!!!
Nice looking plane! Easy to see in the air too! Thanks for including the speed of these planes in your videos!
You bet! I love doing the speed trials.
I did the same thing on my 10T lol. Thought I was going crazy, I'm used to light colored facing up!
Yes that is the first time I have encountered that with the signal wire down.

Can you recommend a good video on learning flight modes because I would love to be able to adjust the flap to elevators in flight.
Best of luck. Might want to check your CG on the fuselage marks instead of the wings, just to be safe. On my plane I got wildly different balance from one versus the other.

And the mix was so slight not sure why either.
Did you test the CG with the fuselage marks? Freewing Engineering China has suggested this is more accurate.
Where are you placing the antennaes for the RX? I have the same RX and would like to place the RX and antennaes in the same spot as you.

My Spektrums have the tiniest plus and minus on them. We are about the same age and I almost need my glasses and a magnifier to see it.
and in braille...lol
Is there any concern when putting the clear coat on that it gets in an area it shouldn’t be? Curious if it would bind anything up.
Good luck on the maiden
Biggest concern is smaller planes and pure foam hinges. Don't get to much in the hinge and on all planes be careful with the battery hatch mechanism.
Thanks so much!!
So when is the maiden😊
She will fly again when I get the new nose gear.
@@FatGuyFliesRC I know I had to reinforce my nose on my larger tomcat. Motion learned a lot of techniques from that.
Any wait for the maiden video.
Uploading now....not that good however.
On the flap offsets it's not 1 and 2%. It's 1mm and 2mm down elevator
Yes .

Mathematically, your mid rates s/b 85% not 80%. 70% low - 85% mid - 100% high rates
After flying her 65 is all you need on the ailerons. The elevator needs 100 to 125 and 100 on the rudder.
