Nice review. Thank you for your video. The title of the movie "Old Joy" is exactly the sentiment of the movie's intention. The film wants to evoke deep melancholy emotions that naturally arise when youthful memories age, and the subjects confront a new time period,... the present. The music score purposely provokes a sense of "loss", a past never to be lived again. And of course the Oregon landscape is the perfect backdrop to be in awe and overwhelmed with transcendent nature. When Mark and Kurt are in the hot tub we understand that everything that needs to be done....has been done. All is well in the world. Nothing more to do. By the way, I am from Eugene, Oregon. Go Ducks!
came here after watching this movie. and I am just blown away by is simplicity, its beauty and how real and relatable the characters were. I could relate to both of them. I have been both at different stages of life. and man that background score is just amazing.
