  • I'm finally back at college!! I've had plans on rescuing a betta down here for a while now and I'm so happy I was able to do it. It's only been a few days and he has progressed so much. I hope you enjoy this video!

    Alien betta will always be a little paler than plakat, so considering with stress, it is normal for him to not show color. And I think overall you did good with the tank for him. Maybe reducing the light a little for algae control and not overfeed of course, also don't forget that betta is a great jumper! Good luck!

      Thanks so much! Considering all of the many other fish I have owned I do tend to assume loss of color with stress. Good to know that they can be paler.

    Hello, Is your Tank a 2.5 or 5 gallon? I like the way it looks. also asking cause I have mine in a 5 gal and I don't have the space on my desk. The tank seems a bit big for him and I know some say they need a 5 but I have lots of plants and he says very busy. Not sure if a 5 is really needed.

      Hello! Yes it is a 2.5 gallon. You will hear most people say that a 5 gallon is the minimum amount for a betta. I have kept bettas in both 2.5 and larger and I see the same happy/healthy results in both. Being that you already have the 5 gal I would personally just stick with that. Gives you more space to plant/decorate too! Disclaimer however this is my own personal opinion coming from my experience. You will hear different ideas/thoughts everywhere you ask. Good luck!

      @@BricksAquatics I have lots of tanks. Keep a betta in a 46 bow front with guppies. I will keep the 5 gal for a few weeks thought I might try the 2.5 after I saw yours. If his temperament changes I can switch him back on water changes. I like your ch. I'm not as much into fish as I used to be but Im going to subscribe to you.

    You don’t want flow in a beta tank

    • @BricksAquatics
      @BricksAquatics  29 дней назад

      Hey!! So I only say that because the absence of any flow causes some really nasty biofilm to accumulate on the surface of the tank. Obviously no need for something like a wavemaker but a filter with even the slightest bit more power could be a little better. I have also been told by many other people (including previous commenters like yourself) that I need more flow. Super hard to please everyone's opinion! Sorry!

    I mean this with SO much respect but a lot of things you said here are misinformation. Blood worms are a great treat for bettas but should not be their only food. You already have a bit too much flow in the tank for their comfort, I definitely wouldnt seek more. You also should definitely get a lot more plants. They really dont prefer a lot of swimming space, they love plants and tons of places to hide and rest. He definitely had a beautiful glow up though! His colors transformed beautifully and quickly 😍

      Hey! So I actually have frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp that I will feed to my betta. I just didn't mention that in the video. Another thing about the flow is that I have been getting mannnnnyyyy mixed opinions on the flow of the tank. Some people say more flow, others say I already have too much. As far as the plants go I've also heard mixed reviews on that as well. A lot of people believe bettas need lots of room to swim around in so that's why I didn't want to overcrowd the tank with too many plants. Point is, It's nearly impossible to please everyone's opinion. I really do appreciate your advice though! Thank you for the support!

      I think that brick just didn’t add every little piece of information in this video therefore it would be a very long video! Everyone takes care of their fish differently and her information was super helpful to me:)
