The thing with them is that they are able to be so casually intimate. When they touch or is in close contact with each other, I believe it. I don’t cringe and I don’t think they are putting on an act even though of course they are following a very precise routine and that is exactly what they are doing. But it feels and looks like they would be doing this whether we were there to watch or not. They spend so much of the program so entwined to each other, which is technically difficult to do from a skating perspective, but it makes the program feel so intimate. There has always been this connection between them that is intangible... but once you can see it, you can’t unsee it. And once you see it, you really start to notice how many other teams don’t have this. And they’ve always been one of those teams that have “it” whatever “it” means. Hard to explain but you know “it” when you see it.

OMG YES FINALLY SOMEONE WHO THINKS THAT TOO!!! something about them i can't seem to catch on other teams, the others are good and have some impressive lifts but it does not compare to the connection tess and scott have, it's how much they trust each other and how seamless they skate, its like they're floating :') i just love them sm it makes me tear up
Yes I agree 💞 no matter what time has elapsed, when I see them together. For instance being awarded medals of Canada just recently. The feeling the connection is still there. From an Aussie Nana of 6 🇦🇺💞always stronger together 💞

I wish they were still competing and I wish they did 2018 worlds but they decided not to. I'm still wondering why they didn't do 2014 worlds... Were the to POed after getting second in 2014 or not invited?

I read they started when they were 9 years old. Can't believe they're not a couple. We can feel their awesome love.
What almost amazes me the most is that she's not a petite woman. She's almost as tall as he is and she looks incredibly strong with all those muscles. She's more than just a doll for him to twirl around. Other couples oftentimes look a bit weird to me, those tall buffy skaters and their teeny tiny pretty iceskate ladies. I love to watch those, too, but Virtue and Moir are different. They look like equals. Of course he must be very strong, too, the way he manages to manhandle her as if she weighed less than a feather, but he sort of hides it and I like that. Everything they do looks powerful, graceful and beautiful.
Teddy 97 your comments are spot-on and eloquently frank. This couple make the most of their awesome synchronicity/chemistry by having so many mirrored moves in their routines. Their rhythmical pace/timing to music is exquisite, isn't it? (I bet sound waves effortlessly flow in a slip-stream around them).
Scott is 5'10" and Tessa is 5'4" (or 5'5" depending on what bio site). Because she is so fit and strong, she actually helps him lift her by launching up into the lift, unless it's a sitting lift. She also has an incredible sense of balance.
I don't know how you can say the others "often eclipse them in technical difficulty" as V/M have set the record in technical scores. They don't get those scores by personal preference of the judges but by a strict set of technical points they have to complete.
greatscot it was just a personal opinion from comparing other dance couple videos but am happy to stand corrected. In fact after watching more, I admit (with shame) that I was definitely wrong about the lack of technical difficulty. Their wonderful expressive interpretation to music is something else as I'm sure you'll agree.
The two of them together are pure magic.
Exquisite. No other ice dancing couple skates as closely together as these two do. Their bodies almost melt together.

Are we sure they're not in love? Whenever she embraces him...she EMBRACES him!! There's something highly emotional about it. When she holds his head in her arms...That can't be just drama for the ice...if they're not in love..they should be👏🏻
Not in love. But both have said they loved and cared for each other. They still do.
Their artistry combined with their fluid, and “effortless” technique is just so unmatched by dance team. They have this raw connection with each other and captivate their audience with every performance.

These two are such a pleasure to watch. Their movements are so fluid and even their facial expressions are point on. It’s like watching a Romeo and Juliet play.
I never tire watching them. A very perfect match.
They definitely have the majic of chemistry and talent between them.
This routine might be my favorite for these two. The music, choreography, and their performance gives me chills. I like everything they do, but this is my fav. 😍♥️🤩
I don’t think there is a program they have skated that has not sent shivers down my spine. There have been many great teams, but none as special as these. June 2024

A beautiful couple who can perform unique, exquisite and elegant steps in skating. Sad to know that this time they are already retired but then their memories will linger in our minds and hearts. We will never forget that once upon a time Tessa and Scot were the king and queen of the skating world. Thanks for uploading the video. Watching from the Philippines.

i just realized it was so fast if they missed like one step it would be so dangerous. but they let it seem so elegant and emotional that you are just amazed by them and don't think about anything else
I love these youngsters so much that my heart bursts with joy watching their videos. They share a bond of friendship that many can attest to and I look forward to replaying their performances.
Virtue and Moir are two of the most incredible athletes ever. She reportedly weighs 110 lbs and he’s a slim trim guy. You’d think he’d have some chiropractic problems but apparently not to continue year after year presumably due to excellent training preparation. He is way stronger than he looks. She is so beautiful and feminine it’s easy to overlook her strength and power. If you watch closely each is a full partner he’s not leading her as one announcer was trying to say. No one will understand either of them as well as they understand each other after all they’ve been to each other. I can never understand how there could be empty seats at any of their performances.
Wow, another gorgeous performance. Each time I watch them, they touch my soul.... And I have to say, ice dancing has come such a loooooong way since the days when I was much younger (I’m 57). I used to not like ice dancing at all....because it was all about the couple literally DANCING across the ice. I mean, they were “in hold” the entire time, and they were doing something like the waltz across the ice - literally ice DANCING. Does anyone else remember that???? It had none of these lifts and twists and everything else that’s now done. It’s come a very LONG way, and for the better!!💞

I actually love when ice dancers dance in close hold. Up until the 2010 olympics they still had the Compulsory Dance where every ice dance team would do the rhumba pattern for example. So all teams did the same steps to a song with a rhumba rhythm. That is probably what you're talking about. After they got rid of the compulsory dance, they added a compulsory section to the Short Dance (called Rhythm Dance this season) where there was a section of the program where all teams had to do a certain pattern (this year it's the Tango Romantica). And then they still have the Free Dance also. This program of Tessa and Scott is their Free Dance from that season. Their short dance from that season was amazing and they skated to a medley of songs by Prince and the pattern dances were hip-hop and midnight blues.

Beautifully choreographed and it was my first time seeing them performing together, it gave me an immediate impression of the real lovers which makes the performance more than alive! I love the name Virtue and Moir too :) a good sense of pun! ❤️
This performance is so deep and beautiful their chemistry is amazingly strong that they just feel the connection for each other it is amazing they are totally one. Beautiful.
It's all so effortless. They do the craziest things but they make them look easy, like a stroll in the park. And Tessa is also such a beautiful woman, a pleasure to watch.

Sublime skills, divine musical interpretation of an exquisite, deeply sensitive song and angelic male singing voice. Surely ice partner dancing doesn't get any better than this. If it does I haven't seen it. Artistically, musically, expressively they are imo even better than the great Torvill and Dean.
It sort of gives me the impression that there's a... Idk, bittersweet? Truth to the words and feeling within those two melodies and how it resonates with them. Sort of like, when someone knows you love them, but you kind of can't really say it, or they love you too, but you can't really make them up and tell you. That's sort of the feeling I get. Also note how they're always very touchy feely after their performances, but in this one... They're still touchy but they seem somewhat anxious. Though that's just my opinion.
