  • Little over a month after Starmer's landslide election victory, Britain has been thrown into turmoil, with far-right riots and attacks, as well as impressive counter mobilisations. These events are a foretaste of the instability in store, as British capitalism sinks deeper into crisis.
    In this talk, from the recent RCP summer camp, Adam Booth explains these events within the context of the global crisis of capitalism, and outlines the tasks of revolutionary communists in the class struggle today.

      Can you help me understand what is "red fascism"? All ai heard in this video were denounces of how all the persecution of immigrant people, real fascism, targets only working people in benefit of the ruling class.
      To whom cheap labor brought from immigration benefits the most? To what class having the working people fighting against eachother?

    Do you really want to abolish the police? Who will defend your personal and cooperative property under communism? I agree that police need more training, especially in mental health and deescalation but abolishment is unwise.
    I do believe capitalist reform is effective, keynesian policies are effective but obviously we still have systemic issues, do I think communism is necessary? Probably not, do I think it's more efficient? Possibly, do I think progreesive social democracy can work effectively? Yes. I myself wouldn't say I'm staunchly socialist but I'm not opposed to it and I believe in much the same goals, if you want to truely captivate those who are social democrats then you need more empirical data and communication, we need more rigorous studies and content opposing academic viewpoints against Marxism. You do not need to convince people that there's a problem, you need to convince people that your solution is the best solution.

      @@Betweoxwitegan armed workers militia will work to stop the more serious crimes. The main source of petty theft is need and/or poverty. Communism means abundance and therefore no need or poverty, which will take care of petty theft. Therefore no need for that. Also the police hardly ever get involved or even try to help people unless the thing stolen is past a certain value depending on the place, so it's not like they currently help anyone other than the wealthy or corporations. Also I don't think you can call yourself socialist if you don't believe in revolution. Watch more videos from this channel and I'm sure you can get closer to the position of a socialist 👍you seem pretty far along so far 🫡

      @@Carbaminohemoglobin A) How is an armed worker militia different from police? B) Communism doesn't create inherent abundance and often artificially restricts desires to serve wants but I agree crime would be drastically reduced under communism, C) your armed militia wouldn't help someone if they lost a penny worth of material good would they? In this sense it's not different from capitalism. D) I'm already well versed on Marxian theory and so this channel wouldn't help me a great deal but I'm not entirely convinced by socialism/communism economic efficiency and I think Marx makes a lot of unsubstantiated generalisations and assumptions, like I said, we need more data.

    • @Carbaminohemoglobin
      @Carbaminohemoglobin Месяц назад +6

      @@Betweoxwitegan ok valid questions. A) the fundamental difference is whose interests each serve. The police and the army are at the beck and call of the bourgeois state whereas the workers militias are made up of workers and are elected and accountable to the workers or workers state under socialism. B) you're right, but in most developed countries (USA, Canada, imperial core) we already have abundance, it's just a matter of how it's distributed. The world currently produces enough food for 11 billion ppl or something yet we still have people starving on the streets. Then there's the example of the Soviet Union that, while they started far from abundance, through the planned economy they set up, they were able to create such conditions within a comparatively short term. Wdym by "artificially restricts desires to serve wants" ? C) it actually wouldn't matter as much now, would it ? You leave your bike unattended somewhere and now it's gone. Under capitalism you took a financial hit and you have to either not have a bike or shell out the cash for a new one. Under communism you walk or take transit to the bike store and just grab a brand new one at no cost to you. Thus making the need to get the militia involved unnecessary. Also we don't have to have the militia do everything right ? Maybe we could have a separate organization that only deals in finding lost or stolen items. Kind of how detectives and police officers used to be separate entities. There are many possibilities for organization here. We just have to pick what works under the material conditions D) that's fine, not everyone has the time and energy to read capital lmao, I still haven't but from what we've seen in historical experiments, the data speaks for itself. I recommend the video "communism is just better scientifically" or something like that by Hakim 👍

    • @Betweoxwitegan
      @Betweoxwitegan Месяц назад

      @@Carbaminohemoglobin Communism artificially restricts desires for wants because it caps the level of individual prosperity, not everyone could have a yacht, private jet, mansion, sports car, etc for example. Now I personally have no problem with this and I think after a threshold of standard living the state should extract public labour value surplus to fund development at a rate of 100% (ideally but this could disincentivize productive work)
      I'm fully convinced that a police force is the exact same as a worker militia, the state monopoly of force used for defence of capital would simply be altered and the policies job would shift. I've already watched "Communism is better scientifically' by Hakim (months ago, I'll rewatch it though)

    There were several protests carried out by ordinary British people from a mix of difficulties speaking out against uncontrolled mass immigration, police double standards, crime etc and yet the media and government claim they are far right extremists. I saw the same protests on social media which turned out to be ordinary British folk.

      Fully agreed, this immigration could've been stopped if the capitalist democracies had been capable of posotively interviening where human rights were violated and atrocities were commited. In a truly communistic world this would never have happened. It would in fact be inconcievable, I think.

      The point is that revolution is more than a one act show. The Russian revolution didn't begin the day it happened but was a long process, February included. One could have reasonably concluded that the liberals had co-opted the February revolution but the Bolsheviks didn't just throw their hands up and declare it a defeat, they continued building and won over the masses. This may well be a 1905 for Bangladesh but we'll be damned if we condemn the genuine elements of workers control that have sprung up in the course of the revolution.
