  • Sarafina Fiber Art brings the newest series in our needle felting tutorials: Forest Folk. Sara Renzulli, along with Lee Charlton, will teach how to create a sculpture of a person that can be forest, fairy, Old World Santa, and more. The possibilities are endless once you gain the skills taught in this tutorial series. Part 1 will teach the armature and initial wrapping of body and head. Visit www.sarafinafi... for other tutorials and all of your needlefelting supplies.
***Wire armature lengths and directions clarification: The wires are 14 gauge aluminum wire. They are cut to 16 inches, 19 inches and 21 inches. The 19 inch wire is first. It makes the head, neck, and arms. The next wire is the 21 inch wire. You fold that in half and put it at the bottom of the neck to make shoulders. You then make the chest and body. The last wire is the 16 inch wire. You use that to make extra "legs" or a base or support for the armature. You also need 26 or 32 gauge wire for the fingers. Just one of those, you cut it in half.

I don't "like" making the fingers, but it's a very satisfactory feeling to make them and have them not look like giant sausages! You guys need to consider taping with a live audience, I feel like you would have lots of LOL and prob some applause with the tiny fingers :)

Merry Christmas and I have my tools and a foam pad but I don’t know if it’s the correct foam. What is the stuffing in the felting burlap pad? I have a soft pad of foam.

Is this an appropriate place to ask about tutorials? If not I'm terribly sorry. I would love to see a tutorial of a lion or any other big cat species. Thank you!

Loved this tutorial! It looks like so much fun. Is there a reason not to do 4 fingers plus thumb?

Susan Johnston - I think it’s purely because the fingers are tiny and fiddley and they don’t enjoy doing them 😆
I’m sure they made a joke about being lazy?!
Awesome tutorial...I came across this totally by accident, not even looking for anything to do with felting, and couldn’t stop watching 💜
