    On the topic of bowel routine, I've been doing it for 23 years, and it's gotten progressively more difficult. I elected to have ostomy surgery recently, and it's a completely different way of dealing with bowel issues. It has freed up quite a bit of time and seems to be a far better routine, at least for me. Take care, Mason. God bless!

    You look like you deal with the same problem that I deal with, my height. I'm 6' - 2" and 200 lbs. My height was a tremendous asset before my accident. Post accident, it's just the opposite. How does your height affect everyday life? ❤

    Are you interested or involved with any current research on sci recovery and return of function studies? I too enjoy the gratification of figuring things out to achieve greater independence and will always Hope the cure for paralysis/ all infirmities is soon realized. The key to a lasting relationship is doing all that your physically able to do for yourself and always showing love and appreciation for your better half. She is out there, Mason. I encourage anyone with the injury we share to find a safe place to push the manual wheelchair - summers, roll on a country road and in a mall or big Walmart. Work up to a mile, then do two miles, set a goal of five miles (and wear your music/ drink lots of water). These power chairs should be secondary if you can handle a manual. Your a country boy and might come to enjoy the serenity, the wildlife, the folk's you'd come to know who lives on the road you find. She might be on that road too, someday. The physical and mental improvement will set you in a higher. place than quads who prefer the easy way. When you get out there by yourself, load your own stuff and turn on your music and accomplish your first five miles, you'll be addicted and Strong.

      Is that a question you want me to answer in my next Q&A video? Or answer it now? I appreciate you sharing your advice for a lasting relationship, but you can't have a lasting relationship without having one to start with. Haha I often have my doubts, but I hope you're right. When comparing myself to others with similar injuries, I don't see any advantages they have over me or things that I believe the woman sees in them that I don't have. However, I would rather be single than waste my time with the wrong one. As for the power wheelchair vs manual wheelchair, I use a power wheelchair as my daily wheelchair for many reasons that don't include it being an easy way out. The top two reasons are more independence and body protection/injury prevention. Thank you for watching and commenting!

      @@masonx54 As far as addressing my question (now or later), that's your area of expertise, but it's a topic I'd think your audience would be interested in, if supported by trustworthy results/ testimonials (stem cell therapy in Portugal comes to mind). The research you gather; there's little mention now-a-days regarding new therapies or innovations, other than some come-lately blurbs about Elon Musk's brain implant ideas.
      My anterior/ posterior fusion and decompression in the cervical spine was performed by Dr. Henry Bohlman, reading about him might be of interest. At the last of my time at Methodist, a posterior/ anterior fusion was presented by my neurologist, his partner, and a 'mysterious' ortho doctor (Dr. Terry Trammell, Ortho surgeon - search). My parents in attendance, these neuro doctors explained that their intentions were to solely prevent further paralysis as c5 was broken, not cracked like c4 and c6. The operation would take 12-14 hours, they shared death was possible, pneumonia was a great possibility, guaranteed bedsores, months more in the hospital, back into a halo, and NO return in motor/ sensory. Dr. Trammell stood there quietly staring at the floor the whole time; he removed the bursar sacks from both elbows a month earlier and I felt he knew something. I did my last two weeks while mother called anybody/ every resource out there and Dr. Bohlman's new article in the American Journal of Orthopedic Medicine came into focus, a call followed (decompression on the Cervical Spine). My records were forwarded to Dr. Bohlman who replied, "if your son gets any 'return' in the next month, we will talk more." Well, a toe and my right index finger started working. Soon after I had a doctor appointment across from Methodist with my Urologist and found myself and Dr. Trammell alone in the elevator together. Without eye contact, I asked him if I should go to Cleveland; he nodded 'yes'. Dr. Bohlman's only assurances, he believed his procedure would give me return in my upper extremities. Good news travels fast; my nurse and staff friends begged me not to go to Cleveland. They insisted this is some Joker as there's 'nothing' out there - anywhere, that's going to improve my circumstances. Three years later, I called Karen, my primary nurse/ other mom at Methodist. I asked if she'd enjoy a lunch together my treat, I picked-up a couple of sandwiches and rolled up to the psych ward at Methodist where Karen had by then moved to. Her look at me was priceless. I'd hit five miles a day, was swimming wo a lifejacket two and a half miles a week, lifting weights daily, and punching a ninety-pound punching bag with 16 oz. gloves with a passion; f.e.s bike-riding and LSU leg braces followed soon after. My wife and I wed in '84 and our daughter was born in 1990; Dr. Bohlman was true to his word and Dr. Trammell is still my friend.
      I totally respect your preference of primary wheelchairs and strong sense in accidental injury possibility, I do. I cracked several vertebrae in my back before sci jumping out of our hayloft on to an Arabian three-year-old horse who'd never been touched due to a traumatic injury as a foal. Both of my legs were broken post injury and there's nothing repairable about me. However, my love, my best friend, and the sincerest person I've ever known remain committed for two years before injury; she's one in a million. I think there's someone for everyone, finding each other is all that's necessary. You look great; share what prevents that tummy quads usually get; God is real and we're Serving Him! Meanwhile, keep me and the rest of us in your prayers and I'll do likewise - keep the Faith.

Don't defend RUclips one day they'll stab you in the back and then what? Ask the many who quit uploading videos.

      Tools can be used in a good way or bad way. You can still change your username. However, it cannot be the same as another RUclips channel. I'm not defending RUclips. Can I ever do something right? I ask because almost every comment of yours is pointing out something flawed, and most of the time it's nothing that has significance. So, I ask that from now on, your comments provide value to my videos. Thank you.

    Hi Mason , I know it’s a bit personal but as u live in US why you don’t apply for a trial in Mayo clinic , did you see that patient started walking after a quadriplegic stage. I live in Europe 😢, bit far for me. Probably you aware about that trial .

    • @masonx54
      @masonx54  3 месяца назад +4

      No, I wasn't aware of that trial. I looked it up and found "Participants in the phase 1 clinical trial must have experienced a trauma-related spinal cord injury from two weeks to one year prior to enrollment." I have had my injury for over nine years, so I'm not eligible. Also, I prefer not being part of an experiment. Lol Thank you for watching and commenting!
