  • The world is so full of injustice on every scale. People at work bad mouthing each other to position themselves for a promotion or for more power. To politicians making unjust laws to favor themselves and their allies over and against the good of the people at large. We all have a very dangerous drive inside us that sometimes allow us to set everyone else aside for our own gain. This is the very root of our sin, our own desire to be 'like God' in a distorted way, where we are God and he is not. We were literally created to be like God, we were created in his image. But this image is distorted by our sin, and so is our desires. Today we pray against the injustice that we all face, some of us even to a degree that cripples our lives. And we pray against the injustice that sometimes comes from us and from our own hearts. God is a just God, and we pray for his righteousness to enter our world. Let's pray!
Our prayers from Psalm 7 are:
    1. Prayer for protection against injustice
    2. Prayer to uproot our own injustice
This video is made by Praying the Bible, author is Elon Jepsen.
Part of the Praying the Psalms Series.
Every video in the Praying the Psalms series opens up the daily psalm with a short introduction that connects the psalm with our lives today, followed by a reading of the psalm. Then we go into the actual prayer time by drawing out two prayer topics that are present in the psalm. With each topic there will be a minute of silence, where we all pray together in our own words or thoughts or by writing in the comment section. The videos conclude with a powerful closing ritual consisting of a prayer, The Lord's Prayer / The Our Father and finally The Blessing spoken over you and your family followed by you speaking The Blessing over your neighbourhood, your nation and the world.
The accompanying song today is called 'Mercy'. We desperately need God's mercy to navigate through life and to stand against the many injustices we inevitably have to face. And we need his mercy to forgive us, when we are the unjust, sinning against others or against ourselves. Have mercy on us, Lord!
God bless you as you join in this prayer time accompanied by the beautiful music by Christopher Galovan.
The music in the video is:
    Mercy by Christopher Galovan
We choose the music to our videos by the rythms and moods we think best accompanies the theme of the psalm being prayed. Sometimes the music is composed by Christian artists and sometimes not. There is a very long tradition at least heading back to reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin in the 16th century and on to John and Charles Wesley i the 18th of taking popular pub and drinking songs and turning them into Christian praise songs and hymns. The Gospel has always been preached this way, most notably going back to the opening of the Gospel of John: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." The term "the Word" is the greek term "logos". This term was used in greek philosophy and religious thought to designate the "divine reason". So it is a religious term used in a different religous world and practice, but John redefines it to designate Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Lord, we pray especially for the politicians leading nations and world organisations. Give them a servants heart, deep wisdom and great courage to govern their nations for the good of their people and to navigate in world politics for the good of the world. Amen!
