Hi Nemo, I used to work for hotpoint, the machines at the time were programmed to only do a spin burst or pulse upto 1200 for a max of 30 seconds, this was because the gec motors used at the time were very heavy on the motor brushes on the high speed models. Hotpoint at the time experimented with a 1500 extraction speed but the motor struggled to sustain the speed under a load, The GEC motor was a very reliable motor for the slower spin machines, 800 / 1000 models but anything above than is did not like it (A bit like over revving a car engine) thats why it was limited to 30 seconds
1500? wouldn't that burn out a GEC motor. so the spin pulse at 1200 is 30s to prevent wear on the motor. tbh I don't like the sound of these motors on 1200 they sound strained
alex tilson hi, we have a hotpoint Aquarius wm64 washing machine. I remember as a child it would spin up speed at the last minute of the spin cycle but now it doesn’t do that anymore is there something wrong or broken in it?
+Nemo Blackheart it depends on when the machine was made. If it's pre-Indesit (2003 or so) it will have a GEC motor, but anything made after that will have a FHP motor. Either that or the one Chris had originally had a GEC motor and then was issued a replacement FHP one.

I'm confused electronicdeluxe had a wm55 with an fhp motor but yours has a gec, why is that?
