  • If you didn't know this already I have been a martial artist since the age of 6. Since the early years, I was involved in Taekwondo, Judo and Karate and later specialized in the Taekwondo (World Taekwondo Style). While Cascais is mostly know to be a Fisherman's village converted into a resort town, there is also one more hidden gem to explore for martial arts lovers- Jogo Do Pau. Jogo do Pau is a traditional stick martial arts from Portugal and I signed up for a lesson to learn the ins and outs of fighting with a stick. I am not used to fighting with weapons so it was quite an adjustment but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Before the village, I did keep some time to take a dip in one of the off beat beaches in Cascais before sweating it out with my trainer.

Oh wow. Didn't know it dates all the way back to the middle ages. Has the underlying technique changed drastically over the years or has it still retained its original form?

That is amazing. Where do you train? I have been wanting to connect with some old school akhadas who train in wrestling in mud (kushti) but have been unable to connect with one. Got any contacts you could share?
