    That's not a design flaw. That's an operator flaw.

      Beg to differ. Standing beside the car should not activate it, and it should have some sort of safety sensor to either not let it hit something or to at least stop it from trying to open once it does hit something. I admit, I have a weird parking situation, but still.

    I think it should definitely have a sensor to stop the process once it encounters resistance. As far as washing and storage I would just keep the key off my body when I know I’m going to be near the vehicle unless I want the vehicle to open. I think they give you three warning beeps before the trunk opens. Thanks for sharing.

    Sounds like your garage has a design flaw.

    I wouldn't say it is a design flaw. And it's advised in the manual to keep the key away from the car if the auto-open is enabled in cases where the vehicle will not be used (like cleaning, or just standing near it). It adds unnecessary strain to the battery.

    You have a unique situation with those wood racks so low...quick fix...don't lock your car in the garage...don't think it's a flaw...to me it's like complaining that my McDonald's coffee is too hot...we have to pay attention more and think ahead.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  9 месяцев назад

      It still activates even if unlocked. Nor did I think it would activate while standing beside the car, wasn't even a concern lol.

      The design flaw is the motors trying to open against all resistance. It should detect resistance and stop before damaging the components.

      Every car I've driven that has this feature requires you to be directly behind the car to trigger it. I literally was standing beside it and as you saw in the video, can't get behind my car unless I crawl. So I was not concerned in the slightest bit about it potentially being triggered

    • @CyberSkunk90
      @CyberSkunk90 9 месяцев назад

      I mean this guy has an interesting parking situation, but not his fault. I've never seen a car that triggers the trunk when standing beside it. Normally you gotta kick your leg behind it or do some sort of ritual dance

    I had that happen to me in my garage as well. I love the feature. I just don't have the fob on me when I'm washing the car at home. You get four beeps, so at least you're warned!

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  4 месяца назад

      Mine did the four beeps, but I couldn't make it stop. I tried pressing all the keys on the fob to make it stop. I had my buffer in my hands so I didn't think to stand up and run away lol

      @@HammysShowcase Funny you state that you run away to avoid having the tailgate open unexpectedly. Yep! My wife has my other set of keys in her purse and I have hers. We're running away quickly to avoid it lifting up! 😂 It's handy with groceries though! No kicking and swinging the foot!

    Same issue on my Stinger GT2. I turned off the feature because I found it more of a hassle than helping. I get it right, we are all expecting the latest and greatest, but my hands are never so full to where I can't depress the trunk button on the fob or button on the trunk.

  • @efboiz5302
    @efboiz5302 8 месяцев назад

    Im calling BS without video evidence. You have to be behind the rear parking sensors with the key fob for the trunk to open. Trunk is not going to open if you are only at the rear door.

    • @HammysShowcase
      @HammysShowcase  8 месяцев назад

      I wasn't at the rear door, I was at the rear quarter panel by the back wheel when it started to open, but as you can se, . I can't get directly behind the car unless I crawl

    • @efboiz5302
      @efboiz5302 8 месяцев назад

      Yes I saw where you pointed, rear quarter/door. Smart lift gate is not designed to operate nor will operate there unless there is some sort of major malfunction…post some evidence and maybe people at Genesis will take this claim seriously. But this is not a “design flaw” because the system is not designed to operate the way you claim the vehicle behaved.

      Didn't intentionally try to open it, nor did I expect it to open standing beside the car. Regardless, I have a really odd parking situation so yes, part my error I guess. But notheless, I definitely think any powered trunk should have some sort of safety sensor or safety shutoff if it hits something and can't open.
