The fundamentals of multiresidue pesticide analysis using the QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) technique are discussed, including the step-by-step process. This technique has revolutionized multiresidue, multiclass pesticide analysis. There are three main methods for use for multiresidue pesticide analysis: Original (containing non-buffered salts), the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists (AOAC) Method, and the European Standard (EN) Method. This video mainly focuses on AOAC. The first step is Extraction/Partitioning (Acetonitrile salting-out extraction of a sample), the second step is clean-up of the extract using Dispersive Solid Phase Extraction (dSPE), and the final step is to analyze the results.

after the d-SPE step, Ms. Joan pippetted the ACN layer direct to vial without filtering with 0.22um filter, I wonder that the final extract is really clear without solid particle that can harm the LC system?. Do we need to add filtering step on this experiment?

If filtration is used, one would need to be sure analytes are not lost during the filtration process. We do not filter any extract after dSPE, but we do use a guard column.

Aren’t the salts used (Na, Mg) not mass spec compatible? Even with centrifuging, you can’t really ensure all salts were removed to an acceptable level.
