      how about a more sustainable lighterweight cheaper inline 3 biofuel diesel with electric assited turbo, maybe even variable vane turbo, in a compact 4 (or just a 2 if you like) everyday momentum preservation car , lotus style but with all the momentum preservation grip stuff like anti roll bar etc . we dont need super cars, we need balanced cars

    Please add ribs and a shorter flat piece to the carbon fiber part. I do think it's wise to stop any twisting motion in the vertical sections.

    Great update! One thing I would recommend on your holes for the motor mounts in the future is radius the corners. You will see stress cracks under flexure. However, coming along nicely! Also, take your time with welding. You are putting a lot of heat into it all at once.

  • @icemanpain
    @icemanpain 10 месяцев назад

    A little tip for those that dont weld that often: Keep some metal that you can do some test welding first, so you dont ruin the welding and have to use some hours to fix it. Worst part, you have to get a new piece since the other was beyond repair

  • @learsiyenoham

    You may want to look into the duty cycle on that particular welder. The duty cycle is basically how hot and long you can run the welder without letting it cool down. The more expensive welders tend to have a higher duty cycle and can be run for long periods at high amperages. The work is looking great!👍

    Don't be shy with radius on the cutout. You are using thick plates, there shouldn't be any issues, but it's a good design rule to avoid sharp corners where concentrations of stresses can start cracks

    Your first welds looked like they where too cold witch may have been a sign that the welder was having an issue but when you look at your welds from the new one, they penetrated much more and looked to flow smoother.

    A grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't. 😁
    Most of your welds look a bit cold to me, either up your amps or move slower.
    And when welding, no matter how well you brace it, it will warp. Best way to mitigate most of that is to really think about the order and direction of your welds.

    Great video. Just a note. The metal likley came flat. Put small weld tacks in and let it cool. Do a littel then switch ends so the metal can cool between. That was there is less warping of the piece.
    Great vides loved the results you get with simple setups.

  • @serdiefgotreb

    Another 2 tips on welding: when mig welding, try to do your circles front upwards, not front downwards, you prevent inclusion that way. Like anither guy said, to have better consistency always try to support your hands. On the bushing areas, it is very important to tack the thickness sides of the plates so the weld goes all around. If not, those sides can become stress and beginning of fracture/fatigue points

  • @rthomp03
    @rthomp03 10 месяцев назад

    Yeah, a small fabrication table with a handful of good clamps goes a long way to keeping things in position while you weld. You can also get one with adjustable height, so you can get the fixture in a comfortable position to weld on.

  • @actontreadway1168

    Very exciting to see the progress. I would def use the carbon fiber but I would putty it up and paint it so you can't see the weave at all. Everyone seems to love to see carbon but I have a theory that it is all marketing, just like alcantara. Alcantara is just an ordinary, synthetic fabric and nowhere near as cool and resilient as leather, but ALCANTARA!!!. Same with carbon. functionally, its way better but it just looks like a cheap plastic made in an elementary school in a 3rd world country, unless you have a full carbon studio with autoclave and precision molding (then, it's amazing).

    Another great video! There was some good lessons in this one on the importance of squaring everything, and double-checking the drawing for orientation ;-) . I must say that your welding skills are pretty good. There were a few small voids in places, but, overall, more than secure enough to handle the weights involved. You had the parts made of plate steel, I imagine. That was some impressive design work, loved the voids for lowering weight, the overall look was very sleek and professional. For the bushings, if you have access to a 3D printer, you could have printed temporary replacements to sacrifice for the alignment of the races to the frame. Just a thought for if you need to do something like that again. Loving the amount of detail in your descriptions, and on the right aspects of the build. Hope you can get that better table. It may be the wood that created the misalignment, when I think about it. The particle board would expand and contract at varying rates, flexing with the heat of the welding, Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the great work.

      @@ElectricSuperCar I ak so sorry, i was in a hurry. Just a few tips. If the gap is up to 3mm, zigzag is not necessary. If you need more material into the weld, adjust the settings and slow down the pulling. If you need a wide weld, try to push the weld. But then the root of the weld is wide and not deep. Decide according to the situation what you want to achieve. If the gap is very large, try to zigzag, but slowly. The weld must be homogeneous, without significant interruptions. I have been following your work almost since the beginning, you have my respect. I am waiting every day for new video. Each one is inspiring. Great job.... Sorry for my bad english
