Thanks for an entertaining and inspiring video. Well done. Just got the idea of making something that can be hooked on to the standard chuck key. Hmm. That extra length to have the chuck key running free from the head stock is worth regarding. The standard key doesn't manage that. Another thought. I've got one 5" (oversize) 3 jaw chuck, one 4 jaw independent 4" and the standard 3 jaw 4" chucks. They all have different dimensions for the square profile of the key.... Making a kind of combined key fitting all 3 of the checks.....
I wasn't sure what you meant by speed handle until you showed that picture. Many years back I acquired a Snap-On set for 1/4" drive that included one of those. I haven't really found much use for it though now I suppose I can see some possibilities...
Hello, I use 3/8 adapters with my battery impact on the rare occasions when I was impatient. Speed wrenches and ratchets also work well. Years ago I just welded a 3/8 extension, 6" on my stubby oem chuck wrench and it is still going strong. Do you have a video of doing your carriage stop on the ways? I keep putting off doing one on mine and the years have gone by.
You may want to see a Doc about that sting. Allergic reactions can take up to 7 days to get full blown. You can take a run of Benadryl and prednisone now for a week or so as prophylaxis. Great video as usual!
That is a great project, the only problem is now I’m gonna have to make one for myself. Oh well that’s why I got a shop. Keep the great video content coming my friend.
must agree with the Wordy Dirt's for them there Hornet things !! as for the lathe must also agree sounds like a bag of marbles rolling round also take a look see it could do with a clean on the handle where the 1/4 20 cap screw touches off could have milled a flat stops it from trying to rotate when tightening the screw down and makes a better area for it to bight on to the handle bit looks a might long
We had some of those nasty critters build a good-sized nest on the side of the house here a while back. Justice was served when a pair of doves built _their_ nest on top of it, finding themselves a built-in food supply. :-)
Lee, thank you for your service, I salute you sir!
Good project idea. I think for me it’ll be easier to modify a t-handle I already have . thank You for the info.
God Bless, Stay healthy Ron
I think this will be my next side project at work! Awesome idea
Thanks for sharing 👍
Nice project Lee. Using a speed handle on aircraft is a must have tool. There are so many screws. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video, keep on keeping on.
Good job Lee!

Nice job Lee and great to have a handy tool dedicated to the task, cheers!
Lee, sounds like the bearings in the lathe are wobbling on their last legs. :P
And hornets will make you say wordy dirts.

You should have drilled and tapped the end when you had the piece in the lathe to face off the end.
