I like the connection there is between Zuko and Katara's necklace. Zuko recognized her necklace as Katara's and used it to find her and also in the hopes of securing a small alliance of sorts--a bargain. Long after the necklace is returned to her, for some reason Katara associates Zuko with the fire nation soldiers who came and killed her mother, the one who owned the necklace previously and who gave it to Katara. Katara sometimes touches this necklace to remember and feel close to her mother. Zuko, the one who took the necklace in the first season, helps Katara find her mother's killer. And she keeps touching that necklace that he had been flaunting around in front of her months ago, hoping that the wish to have the precious necklace back would induce her to do as he asked.

Why ZUTARA was real.... First, when he says on Book One "I can save you from the pirates" that's the first hint! Second, when Sokka asks Zuko on the tent, "What's on your mind?" Zuko unhesitantly replied "Your sister". Well that simple reply can excavate many questions didn't it? On the first place why would Zuko want Katara to be okay with her? It's because he has feelings for her too. That he even spend the night not sleeping outside Katara's tent just to convince her (now that's some perseverance that a guy can show if he truly love a girl). @@notmyopinion4981 I actually wonder if this was one of the issues that caused the creators to leave. Netflix most likely wanted a good romance story to get the teenage audience. The zutara pairing would have given the show writers a better love story to work with and a pairing that is already enjoyed by the fandom. Most likely, Netflix recognized it and tried to push for it. Also, there is no way they could do a really big romance with Aang and Katara without increasing his age because Aang is 12. That wouldn't have translated as well and the romance would have to be downplayed. I doubt that the original producers would be willing to age Aang up.
Sorry if I should be late, but yea I absolutely agree. Aang always forced her, he kissed her even thou she never wanted to and she was always surprised when he did that, the only time it was shown that she loves him was in the very last scene of the entire show, but we all know both - the Kataang Ending Scene as well as the Maiko Scene were just forced so that Aang has someone and therefore that Zuko has someone...even thou he completely forgot about Mai after the Boiling rock
I don't understand how something this short can have such a remarkable impact on me. This is freaking amazing and I love it to death. It is interesting how you consider Kataang to be your OTP but make such an incredible Zutara video. Watching the series again, I don't get why Aang and Katara became a thing. Honestly I think Katara ended up with Aang because he was the protagonist and wouldn't it be sad after all that he/they went through that he didn't get the girl. I'm for Katara and Zuko all the way. Aureola Ascending Katara brought out Zuko's truest self and vice versa. Mai is everything Zuko escaped from. The two did not understand one another. Katara only sacrificed for Aang, but he barely did that in return especially when she needed him most like in the Si Wong Desert
Aang should have let go Katara when he was with the Guru - they could have found another way that Aang would break up with the Training for his Avatar State and get shot by the lightning from Azula anyways. Then in Book 3 he wouldnt have had a crush on Katara anymore and you would have really seen that this little childish Boy has grown into an mature, yet pacifistic and deliberated Avatar who is able to beat the Firelord without using brute force. Then they should have focused more on Katara/Zuko, the few scenes we got were perfect - but maybe they could have had a dialouge about their other identity (blue spirit and painted lady) so they could get closer with each other and learnend that both did mistakes. Zuko showed Katara forgiveness, she was able to forgive him evebn thou he is the Fire Lords son and they SHOULD HAVE worked with that, cause its actually a brilliant idea. A kiss at the end of the Agni Kai with Azula would have been perfect, and one of the last scenes could have shown Katara and Zuko together how they get into a relationship and Katara is ready to forgive the fire nation with the help of him, and that together grow - the Fire Lord with the last Waterbender from the Southern Tribe, it would have connected the Nations in a huge step - I could also imagine that later on their child, the next Firelord might have been a water bender, which showed the connection between the Nations, and that you dont have to be a firebender to be a Firelord but just own the heart of a true bender or anything like this But guess they screwed up...
the whole katara and aang thing is bullshit in my opinion. so what if aang was protagonist and had a crush on her? she should've ended up with ZUKO. if books and cartoons are supposed to teach us something, then let it be that Zuko did everything to protect her, changed himself for the better for her and always tried to do what was best for her. if that's nothing and she still ended up with aang, then i don't even know why bother with teaching kids a lesson.

I understand why Katara/Aang is end game but damn, I wish there was at least a brief moment where she and Zuko tried. Actually, I just wish that they ended up together later on. It didn’t have to be in the show, but at least the comics or LOK. Maybe Katara had Tenzin, Bumi, and Kya had a half sibling who happened to be a waterbender - anything to acknowledge a little bit of Zutara
They would have made the most beautifully intense couple ever for sure. I’m not one for shipping characters usually, but even I have to admit that Zuko and Katara have chemistry. They certainly would have had one hell of a story together. I never understood why Katara ended up with Aang, beyond the obvious cliche of having the main protagonists of a story fall in love.

Second to the cop-out of the Lion Turtle/energybending (yeah yeah I know the arguments that it was hinted at but honestly those are more like Easter eggs than hints), Aang ending up with Katara seems forced. There's no denying Aang loved Katara and Katara liked him, but part of being the Avatar is that you forsake all earthly attachments (ie Katara), which is why Aang couldn't achieve the Avatar state with Guru Pathik at the end of season two. It's explicitly stated that his love for Katara must be second to his duty as the Avatar. The problem is that in the finale, he never had to address that issue after season two, thanks to a well-placed rock. He still ends up with Katara (cop-out 1) and he doesn't have to challenge his pacifist views of killing Ozai (cop-out 2). Personally, I think they should have made Day of the Black Sun the season three finale, so we get lots of time to set up the lion turtle in season four and Zuko's dynamic with the Gaang and Katara especially.

I would have liked Zutara if in the series there were more hints that they had feelings towards each other and less in the Kataang direction- Just my voicing my thoughts.
Here are my facts for why i didnt want aang and katara to be together and zutara shouldve been the one I felt that aang only had a childish boyish crush on katara seeing that she was like literally the only girl he’s ever really met, and he was the first to actually have a crush on her before her, it was all so forced like she never really had any feelings for aang, and she even said it in where they went to the play she said “she was confused and didn’t really want a relationship,” yet aang was being a immature childish boy and kissed her, it did not make anyy sense at all that they kissed at the end ,who katara didnt have a love interest before but now at the end she randomly does? Where katara actually showed a romantic interest to zuko, but clearly blocked aang ( because duh she loves zukoo ☺️) I see aang more as a brother to katara, he’s immature for katara and he was young at 12 years old (real age 112) mental age like 10 years old, and she mostly mothers aang cause he’s too foolish... And on the other hand zutara, zuko and katara could relate on different levels they were both so mature and understanding they have things at common but also very different at the same time, they both lost their mother at a young age, but he’s fire and she’s water opposites do attract eachother in my case they were like the true yin and yang, keep in mind katara was kinda the one who helped zuko to be good and not follow his destiny “honour” Heres my other dumb reasons If i was katara id choose the smart, brave, hot, serious, manly flipping ninja skilled zuko Their couple status: 2 bada’s ( iconic duo) And not the bald head whose shorter than her and younger, immature child fool, a young boy who doesn’t know better, and so on Couple status: cute but not really.... their relationship does not make sense for a 8 year old to date a womanly 16 year old ( just age preferences ) ☺️

the whole katara and aang thing is bullshit in my opinion. so what if aang was protagonist and had a crush on her? she should've ended up with ZUKO. if books and cartoons are supposed to teach us something, then let it be that Zuko did everything to protect her, changed himself for the better for her and always tried to do what was best for her. if that's nothing and she still ended up with aang, then i don't even know why bother with teaching kids a lesson.

Wow. The beginning is so beautiful, I gotta say - the part where Katara comes gliding across the view and Zuko reaches towards the sky - that part always has my breath catching in my throat. Wow, just stunning.
I understand why Katara/Aang is end game but damn, I wish there was at least a brief moment where she and Zuko tried. Actually, I just wish that they ended up together later on. It didn’t have to be in the show, but at least the comics or LOK. Maybe Katara had Tenzin, Bumi, and Kya had a half sibling who happened to be a waterbender - anything to acknowledge a little bit of Zutara

They would have made the most beautifully intense couple ever for sure. I’m not one for shipping characters usually, but even I have to admit that Zuko and Katara have chemistry. They certainly would have had one hell of a story together. I never understood why Katara ended up with Aang, beyond the obvious cliche of having the main protagonists of a story fall in love.

Second to the cop-out of the Lion Turtle/energybending (yeah yeah I know the arguments that it was hinted at but honestly those are more like Easter eggs than hints), Aang ending up with Katara seems forced. There's no denying Aang loved Katara and Katara liked him, but part of being the Avatar is that you forsake all earthly attachments (ie Katara), which is why Aang couldn't achieve the Avatar state with Guru Pathik at the end of season two. It's explicitly stated that his love for Katara must be second to his duty as the Avatar. The problem is that in the finale, he never had to address that issue after season two, thanks to a well-placed rock. He still ends up with Katara (cop-out 1) and he doesn't have to challenge his pacifist views of killing Ozai (cop-out 2).
Personally, I think they should have made Day of the Black Sun the season three finale, so we get lots of time to set up the lion turtle in season four and Zuko's dynamic with the Gaang and Katara especially.

I would have liked Zutara if in the series there were more hints that they had feelings towards each other and less in the Kataang direction-
Just my voicing my thoughts.
Here are my facts for why i didnt want aang and katara to be together and zutara shouldve been the one
I felt that aang only had a childish boyish crush on katara seeing that she was like literally the only girl he’s ever really met, and he was the first to actually have a crush on her before her, it was all so forced like she never really had any feelings for aang, and she even said it in where they went to the play she said “she was confused and didn’t really want a relationship,” yet aang was being a immature childish boy and kissed her, it did not make anyy sense at all that they kissed at the end ,who katara didnt have a love interest before but now at the end she randomly does? Where katara actually showed a romantic interest to zuko, but clearly blocked aang ( because duh she loves zukoo ☺️) I see aang more as a brother to katara, he’s immature for katara and he was young at 12 years old (real age 112) mental age like 10 years old, and she mostly mothers aang cause he’s too foolish...
And on the other hand zutara, zuko and katara could relate on different levels they were both so mature and understanding they have things at common but also very different at the same time, they both lost their mother at a young age, but he’s fire and she’s water opposites do attract eachother in my case they were like the true yin and yang, keep in mind katara was kinda the one who helped zuko to be good and not follow his destiny “honour”
Heres my other dumb reasons
If i was katara id choose the smart, brave, hot, serious, manly flipping ninja skilled zuko
Their couple status: 2 bada’s ( iconic duo)
And not the bald head whose shorter than her and younger, immature child fool, a young boy who doesn’t know better, and so on
Couple status: cute but not really.... their relationship does not make sense for a 8 year old to date a womanly 16 year old ( just age preferences ) ☺️

I really hope the live action series shows them as canon instead of kataang
I actually wonder if this was one of the issues that caused the creators to leave. Netflix most likely wanted a good romance story to get the teenage audience. The zutara pairing would have given the show writers a better love story to work with and a pairing that is already enjoyed by the fandom. Most likely, Netflix recognized it and tried to push for it. Also, there is no way they could do a really big romance with Aang and Katara without increasing his age because Aang is 12. That wouldn't have translated as well and the romance would have to be downplayed. I doubt that the original producers would be willing to age Aang up.
