I’m doing maths, physics, econ and mandarin for a level but I’m really worried if I would be at a disadvantage for not taking FM a level even though my school does offer it (doing 5 a levels would’ve been too much since I didn’t want to drop mandarin) for unis such as LSE, oxbridge, ucl etc? And I want to study econ at uni.
Hi. So I want to apply to UCL , LSE and Imperial for econ. I am 4a* predicted but the thing is I do not have further math a level or economics. I am an international student and my school does not offer those subjects. How much of a disadvantage is it?
Sounds like you have GREAT grades. If you were not offered Further Maths, ask your reference to state this and you will not be at a disadvantage. Further, a top tip is to pick a FM topic and self study a little of it and discuss this in your personal statement to show that you are a hard worker. Good luck!
@@the_profsOh that’s great! Thank you very much for getting back to me. I was quite worried about it as most people that get offers have done further maths. I have asked my teacher to mention it and they did. I self studied some further math content and I did mention about it on my personal statement. I just wanted to be certain that it won’t disadvantage my application in any way as I don’t have further math or Econ a level.
Hi Laiba, It's best to email consultancy@theprofs.co.uk to ask about a personal statement review! They will be able to help you out further with this request

Is it worth applying for econmics at UCL with A*AA predicted?
yes definitely! if you have a good personal statement
Absolutely. Those are the required grades. Identify your referee and work with them to write something really glowing to get UCL's attention
