Lachlan it’s not only jobs and livelihoods, it’s the culture and history. Skills that have been formed over generations, an understanding of the land and the seasons, the different soil types, stock management and weather prediction, dam building and fire prevention and so many other things that cannot just be taught. While doing that start planting diversity trees that are more drought and fire resistant. Growing trees take water from the soil and release it into the atmosphere. Tree leaves also act as interceptors, catching falling rain, which then evaporates causing rain precipitation elsewhere - a process known as evapo-transpiration. We will be able to strategically plant trees that will bring rain to regions that need it most. Stop selling off the farms to the Chinese. It is going to hurt us in the long run when we run out of milk and fruit. Wake up stop the sell off of BAL, Costa, A2M, etc.

It seems that governments, both state and commonwealth have for too long been unable to estimate the volumes of water required for farming interests, and for environmental flows. Decisions have obviously been made on the best case scenario, and lessons are never learnt. Easy solutions are not apparent, but one initiative appears palpably wrong, and that is the profit making by companies that buy land solely for the purpose of selling the water rights at huge profits.

It seems that governments, both state and commonwealth have for too long been unable to estimate the volumes of water required for farming interests, and for environmental flows.
Decisions have obviously been made on the best case scenario, and lessons are never learnt.
Easy solutions are not apparent, but one initiative appears palpably wrong, and that is the profit making by companies that buy land solely for the purpose of selling the water rights at huge profits.

I attended this and it was incredible to see so many 'quiet Australians' fighting back. Sky didn't show the rebellion as it was .. hundreds of trucks, thousands of people. The only politicians who gave speeches and mingled among the crowd was Pauline Hanson, Malcolm Roberts, Bob Katter and a NSW polliie, Helen Dalton. The National Party's finished and possibly the Liberals - the campaign to oust them will grow stronger.
