I am from Malaysia, Malaysia is a multi-culture country; we are forms by three main ethnic group- Malay , Chinese , and Indian. We are all fine living together, and respect our culture differences. Malays typical breakfasts are like Nasi Lemak(coconut milk rice), curry puff , kuih-muih(cakes) Chinese typical breakfasts are like zhu Chang fen, noodle soup(pork or beef, even fish but costly) , Dian xin, Indian typical breakfasts I always only remember their roti canai . Very delicious , and you should try if you have come to Malaysia! =)
I live in the UK and recently started making the raw egg over rice for breakfast. It's absolutely delicious, the egg mixed with the rices becomes so creamy. It's really comforting,
I come from Iran and our breakfast must have tea bread cheese or jam or honey. we have a special breakfast sheeps's head broth which looks and sounds disgusting but tastes great. so in my experience disgusting looking foods always taste best!
Haha yeah, my brother used to be like me and hate it, once he tried it he said it was really good and I should too but I just haven't gotten around to it (don't know if I ever will in the foreseeable future 😂) Fran Martinez
+Paul Johnson in my experience, breakfast varies with families, personally in our family booked and scrambled eggs with flatbread are quite popular, maybe try searching up Persian breakfast and some insteresting things might come up
I actually think that the Japanese breakfast seems really good! And I don't eat breakfast in the morning either XD. A typical breakfast for me would be dim sum or just sunny side up eggs with toast
actually i had to do a lot of reading on Natto which helped me to see it a source of vitamin k2 which is extremely valuable. the thought about sliminess is a cultural perception.....but good health is more important.....thank you japan for inventing the Natto ....actually many don't know how hard it is to produce the particular bacteria that cause the stickiness but when you know you will change the way you look at it.
I know in my past life i was a Japanese woman!! I am salivating just watching this video, onakasuita!!! You are my Japanese Cook-hero!! thanks for the many awesome recipes!!
I would love to have such a breakfast every day. We have bread and marmalade for breakfast in Germany, but in the south of Germany, people often eat sausages or eggs and brezels.
Yes Northern Germany breakfast practicly only have bred and and cheese and meat. Nothing special. Everybody looks like a Teletubbie when someone eats different.
Thanks for the recipe :) Will certainly be trying. Even the egg-natto. I don't normally eat breakfast, but when I do, it's hard boiled eggs with avocado, or a sunny side up egg on toast.
+Sophie Sims I believe their eggs are heat treated, so there's a less than 1% chance of them having salmonella in them. American eggs are as well, but due to the fact that we store them cold and wash them, a lot of their protection is removed, so American eggs are not safe to eat raw. I know the UK stores them room temperature and their hens have been salmonella vaccinated.
+Sophie Sims - I eat raw eggs and I live in here in the U.S. - Generally, speaking raw eggs are the healthiest way to eat eggs because you don't destroy the vitamin and mineral content which occurs when subjecting your food to heat. All raw foods, excluding meat, are best when consumed raw... this includes eggs as well. Try to buy organic when you can, but most importantly, just make sure it's fresh. In the case of eggs, once they're cracked consume them... If they sit for a long time, say over an hour, then you allow the chance for bacteria formation to occur, meaning you should cook the egg at that point, or risk feeling sick afterwards lol - just for reference, I eat "Egglands" organic eggs raw, and have done so for several years.... haven't been sick yet =)
As a kid raw egg with hot white rice with soy sauce and sesame oil with side of kimchi was my staple breakfast since it's fast to prepare and easy and delicious to eat. I know Japanese people do the same though, without the kimchi. Now it's whatever prepared on the table is breakfast or I just cooks something up with what's available. :D
i live in he usa and from what i have seen most Americans like coffee with fried eggs and bacon, buttered tested and grits for breakfast. But me ill eat just about anything for breakfast as long as its not something sweet :) i like salty food in the morning
Weekdays: Either no breakfast, or cereal with cold milk. Weekends: White bread (buns, rolls) heated in the oven or toasted, with butter, cheese, salami, jam, nutella. For drinks, either a glass of milk, orange juice, apple juice or simply water. Special breakfast: Fried eggs, fried sausages, baked beans, buttered toast, and sliced cheese. Can be eaten separately, or stacked as an awesome breakfast sandwich! I've never had fish, shellfish, soup, rice, or raw egg as breakfast. But It's definitely worth a try sometime:) I have however decided that I don't like natto. Simply from the description and look of it:P I can't stand powerful smells from food, if they are cheese-like or rancid.
Are Japanese eggs different from North American eggs? If I were to eat a raw egg, I would be concerned about contracting salmonella. Are they treated with a special process? sorry if I sound dumb.
I've heard they're cleaner, but I don't know what processes they use... I was also advised that, in America, the safest bet is to look for a brand of egg that's pasteurized in shell.
The contamination from American eggs (I have no idea what they're like in other countries) comes from unhealthy chicken processing plants, where we get most of our eggs. The facilities are cruel and unsanitary and produce a contaminated result. Eating eggs from pastured chickens, especially those that are fed healthy food and not treated with antibiotics and hormones produce eggs that are not only safe but healthier and more nutritious to eat. I have a psychological aversion though, so I'd never eat it raw anyway.
im from india ...living in hostel...my breakfast typically compises of poha (a dish made of rice flakes) or samosa(pastry filled with spiced potato) and milk tea
Loving your video!! In Venezuela we usually have Arepas which is some kind of bread made of corn starch and filled with almost anything! Ham, cheese, meat, chicken, egg, avocado, tuna, beans (not all together, of course) or Cachitos (some kind of croissant filled with ham) and Empanadas, that are like fried moon shaped arepas filled with stuff like the ones above.
I usually rock a fried egg on toast or ill cut a hole in the slice of bread and drop the egg inside and fry it for simplicity. topping usually comprises of slices of raw onion, garlic pepper sauce and maybe cheese. Much more healthy then going to a fastfood joint and much more affordable.
I don't eat breakfast very often in the morning. Usually just cereal if i'm very hungry, but I never crave food. I am thinking of waking up extra early to cook delicious breakfast thanks to your videos. Thanks runny!
Appalachian Mountains, USA. We eat oatmeal with 1-2 eggs and toast OR Bacon, eggs, & toast, with orange juice. When you live in the United States all meals are different because we are a melting pot of different cultures.
nerdieone1 I tried the egg natto rice. It smells like the strongest cheese and has the slimiest texture ever. I usually eat absolutely everything, but this stuff - let me tell you, it's definitely something else. Not for everyone. :D
I used to love putting a raw egg in my rice as a kid (with soy sauce)! And I also liked nattou since basically ever, but I never thought about mixing these two together. Gotta try it next time. Thanks for the tip :D
In Britain, our most famous breakfast is called: A full English. It consists of Sausages, Bacon, A fried egg or scrambled egg, Baked beans, Mushroom (Large), Tomato (Sometimes), hash browns and Black pudding (Which is animal offal cooked together. Sounds awful, but is really nice.) personally, i don't like to eat it because I find it too strong and sickly first thing in the morning, but other Brits love it! =P
Scottish breakfast is best in the world. Bacon, egg, sausage, black pudding, fruit pudding, haggis, tattie scone, fried bread, baked beans, tomato, mushroom. Or you can be boring and go with porridge lol
I'm American. Usually my breakfast is something fast on a work day, like tea or coffee and a muffin or pastry. It could also be cereal or oatmeal, or if I have time i'll cook some eggs and toast with butter. Weekends i'll usually make pancakes and eggs or eggs and potatoes with toast.
Typical breakfast in Finland: Oat porridge with butter and milk or jam, open sandwiches like rye bread with ham or cheese, either sour milk, yougurt or viili (yougurt-like fermented milk product), coffee, milk, juice. Thanks for great videos!
Hi ! Love your cooking videos ! I'm from France and here, typically breakfast is : french bread or baguette toasted or not with butter and sugary topping (fruit jams, honey...) or brioche, croissants and other french full butter buns lol with generally coffee or tea Please continue like this !
i don't know why everyone is fearing about salmonella in raw eggs. I am from Germany and i often drink shake with a whisked raw egg and i'ts always fine. I've never heard of anything dangerous about that. As long as the egg is fine it's okay i guess.
trinidad & tobago..sooooo many breakfast selections... from a dish called doubles , to oats porridge... something we called bake eaten with different meats or veggies or even toasts.... our culture is soooo rich with a combination offoods from other cultures
Dude. Soup and salmon looked good, but the natto bowl is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life. Haha. You have some brass ones my friend.
as a fact, breakfast is the most important meal of the day... the raw egg was a surprise, I thought you had it boiled or something. I don't have anything against eating raw egg in general, but do you know that you can get salmonella from eating it? It is a real danger that was not present 20 years ago maybe, but it is now.
like people have discussed before, nowadays we take extreme measures maing sure our eggs are safe, all the egg cartons ive seen in my local supermarket have the approved stamp saying they are pasteurized
eggs in japan are very safe to eat raw. Im not exactly sure why but eggs are for the most part 100% organic in japan. If you compare the yellow yolk in america with the orange yolk in japan, you'll know why. Its just fresher!
Love it man, appreciate your work so much. I love Japanese cuisine and I have a unending respect for your culture. It's good to know that you want to spread Japanese Culture around the world and I think people should have a little more respect. Keep making videos my friend. I salute you.
Typical Breakfast in the Philippines is Japanese influenced >Dried salted Fish, Rice, Soup While the Japanese is very specific >Salted Fish (fresh), Rice, Miso Soup
Why is it when anyone ever speaks Japanese that is not Japanese are automatically a weeb? I guess people now and days don't know the importance of learning more then one language. Sigh
In the north side of Mexico we usually eat for breakfast carne seca (which is like beef jerky but way better) with tomatoes, onions and eggs, and then we make tacos of that and is soo delicious I dont actually like to judge how other countries food looks like because here we eat whatever we can, even sheeps heads or cow tongues (barbacoa) which is the traditional sunday breakfast in Nuevo Leon
I live in the US but I studied abroad in Japan for one year two years ago and ever since then, even when I'm home again, I still eat natto with rice and nori (and sometimes with an egg) three times per week for breakfast or as a snack!! It's yummmmm. Love it.
I really enjoy your videos! My childhood friends' mom is from Japan, and when I was little my friend asked if I wanted beans and rice, and I agreed expecting something more like what I normally ate in New Mexico. I didn't appreciate the difference as a kid >
I'm from Missouri and I live in a community with lots of farming so typically the breakfasts here tend to be really heavy and hearty like biscuits and gravy, or chicken fried stake or even eggs toast and hash browns with bacon. I'm super lazy so when I don't skip breakfast I usually eat cereal though lol I like apple jacks, honey bunches of oats OR my favorite is frosted mini wheat's but on special occasions I will wake up and make my niece and nephews pancakes or oatmeal sweetened with honey!
Thank you for sharing! I have exposed my N. American friends to rice w/ raw egg and furikake, and natto. Usually they are afraid of eating raw egg and warn me to cook it, and the brave are willing to try natto...once! That's fine. More for me! Actually, it took some determination on my part to get used to natto, but I wanted to, and now I really enjoy it. I'm looking forward to preparing more Japanese home foods - with your help!
It looks really good...and I've tried natto but what does natto egg rice taste like? I would really like to try this when I go to Japan this summer. Thank you!
Breakfasts for me are usually oatmeal with peanut butter, cinnamon, and a bit of brown sugar when I go out. At home, it can range from Natto on peanut butter toast or oatmeal with Natto or rice with scrambled eggs with a dash of soy sauce and sesame seeds or some egg dish. It all depends on my mood in the morning. I do live the US, I do enjoy Natto, it may not be in the traditional sense, but just like everything it boils down to your creativity and tastes. (After writing this all out I am surprised I still go out to eat because I don't eat traditional American breakfast fare).
I live in Houston, Tx, USA. Our typical breakfast is waffles and eggs with milk and sometimes some bacon! Everyone in the United States eats breakfast lol! I might try your recipe at home!
When you talked about natto I kept thinking about how some people think oatmeal is gross. not sure I would like natto but I'd try it. Salmon for breakfast sounds so, so good! I like sour cream blueberry muffins and a ton of coffee.
(Minnesota) they say in the US that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but i hardly ever eat it. when i do its dry cereal or an energy bar. (that's all i have time for)
My typical breakfast(if I'm not rushing somewhere like to school, or if I'm actually hungry) is usually grits, scrambled eggs, biscuits with jelly/jam, fried bacon and sausage, pancakes, and a little bowl of peaches. Usually a Southern American thing we do in the south with my family. Sometimes we'll eat fish or shrimp and grits.
hmm the usual breakfast here in the USA in Minnesota is eggs, bacon, toast/pancake/waffle/french toast with butter and "maple syrup"(is really flavoured corn syrup usually) or sometimes oatmeal or cold cereal with milk. I myself enjoy fresh fruit, yogurt, and an english muffin.
I'm Hmong-American, born and raised in the U.S. and grew up with a typical breakfast such as cereal or toast along with orange juice or fruits. However, if it comes to my traditional breakfast, it's usually fried eggs or fried rice along with boiled squash or green beans. :)
The natto with raw egg and rice is definitely different than what I'm used to eating for breakfast, but I'd try it! Especially if I were eating breakfast in Japan. ^.^ And hey, if it tastes good, it tastes good! In the U.S. we eat a lot of different things for breakfast. Cereal with milk, yogurt and fruit, biscuits (with jelly/jam or butter), sausage or bacon and sometimes fried pork, just a smoothie, pancakes, eggs cooked a variety of ways, the list goes on! It's even pretty normal to just not eat breakfast at all (I usually don't eat until lunchtime).
In the Philippines, our breakfast can be pretty heavy but still good. Garlic fried rice, eggs, and some sort of meat, like longanisa (sweet and spicy sausage), tapa (kinda like beef jerky) and tocino (sweet marinated pork or chicken). Sometimes some will go for dried anchovies as well. Champorado is also popular as well...it's a chocolate based rice porage.
In Italy breakfast is considered a 'minor' meal, and reduced to a minimum. Couple of biscuits and coffee, or rusks+jam and milk, or (if in a bar) cappuccino and cornetto (croissant). Breakfast is associated with sugary/sweet food.
Dont ask me why, but last night, the memory of watching this video popped up in my mind; had to rely dig deep to remember who posted it and i just had to come searching for it again❤❤
You are so amazing!!! Oh my God. Looks so delicious
Lol seems lonely here
NO WAY YOU IS HERE TOO
...wasn't expecting him to be so cute...aww
Haha Runny's always cute! ^_^
I won't lie, the Natto rice/egg kind of horrified me, but at the same time, I want to try it.
When I went to Japan to visit friends, they gave me natto and I thought it was delicious, I may have been addicted. If I had been told what it was I think my relationship with the stringy stuff would have gone very differently... XD
Ikr
The taste isn't terrible, but heads up, it does feel weird on the palette when you eat.
It's soo good and really just has a aged sort of cheese flavor to me... if you've ever eat Boiled Okra,, it's sort of the same texture slime wise.. we love Okra so Natto is just delish to us... you may try rinsing the slime off first in a sieve to try to just get the flavor from the beans... then season with packs that come with the Natto itsself...😋👌
How much time do you have in the morning? Damn!
+Jo eliten Traditional Japanese usually get up so early in the morning (like 2 hours before work/school) to cook for themselves/family members a satisfying breakfast, plus bento for lunch. However, this is no longer commonly practiced by the young ages as they tend to get up later, and lazy enough to get fast food for breakfast.

Jo eliten make it the night before

Heehee ^.^
Chuckle, funny ...
hope the gel and the soap tastes as good as runny's food.
Respect the culture, I love that you said that, and I love your channel even more now xoxo

Thanks for the recipe :) Will certainly be trying. Even the egg-natto.

I actually really want to try natto! Look stinky but fun because it is so stringy, and satisfying. Thanks for the clam tips.
ところが、臭みは全然いけないので、今でもあまり納豆を食べません。あいにく、やっぱり辛すぎるんです ^^;;
(因みに、私はドイツ人です^^ それで酷い日本語すみません!(汗))

In my house, we call the sliced bread with egg in it a birds nest. Actually ,now that I'm thinking about it, it sounds somewhat sadistic.
Christina Jordan That is exactly why I don't refer to that dish like that.
lately i've been using sweet heat peppers there basicly candied jalepenos.
There a local company here in Nebraska, I highly recommend you order some ASAP. sweetheatpeppers

I'm from Mars. We eat homo sapiens for breakfast. I'm not joking, you may say it's gross but pls respect our culture. Thanks.
Im from a black hole, we eat stars for breakfast, pray that the sun isnt our next meal..
I wouldn't put the raw egg in, but I'd like to try natto ^^
Typical breakfast in Finland: Oat porridge with butter and milk or jam, open sandwiches like rye bread with ham or cheese, either sour milk, yougurt or viili (yougurt-like fermented milk product), coffee, milk, juice. Thanks for great videos!
I think I'll just go to IHOP.
:D..am i normal? watching videos about japanese food all night long ...
:D Handsome man... I'm in love.
Hi ! Love your cooking videos !
I'm from France and here, typically breakfast is : french bread or baguette toasted or not with butter and sugary topping (fruit jams, honey...) or brioche, croissants and other french full butter buns lol with generally coffee or tea
Please continue like this !
i don't know why everyone is fearing about salmonella in raw eggs. I am from Germany and i often drink shake with a whisked raw egg and i'ts always fine. I've never heard of anything dangerous about that. As long as the egg is fine it's okay i guess.
That scare probably comes from USA, in Europe we eat raw eggs for centuries and its nothing weird in it.
i wanna go to japan and eat everything
+kacaramel You must be related to Godzilla.
+kacaramel i know how u feel.... I also want the same...
@@Humpahna lol
It looks yummy! I want to try natto so bad T_T
trinidad & tobago..sooooo many breakfast selections... from a dish called doubles , to oats porridge... something we called bake eaten with different meats or veggies or even toasts.... our culture is soooo rich with a combination offoods from other cultures
I think it's safe if you wipe down the egg down with a wet paper towel or something, since the bacteria is on the shell and not on the insides.......
I heard salmonella is from the shell not the actual yolk and egg whites.
eggs in japan are very safe to eat raw. Im not exactly sure why but eggs are for the most part 100% organic in japan. If you compare the yellow yolk in america with the orange yolk in japan, you'll know why. Its just fresher!
***** you realize that salad dressing and mayonnaise are made of raw eggs. a lot of other western food items incorporate raw eggs too..
My typical breakfast is 2 eggs some bacon and toast
Love it man, appreciate your work so much. I love Japanese cuisine and I have a unending respect for your culture. It's good to know that you want to spread Japanese Culture around the world and I think people should have a little more respect. Keep making videos my friend. I salute you.
Typical Breakfast in the Philippines is Japanese influenced
>Dried salted Fish, Rice, Soup
While the Japanese is very specific
>Salted Fish (fresh), Rice, Miso Soup
Americans can't judge the way Japanese people eat natto because in America we like to deep fry everything...
Maria Alexa Nguyen Cruz No we don't
I don't eat breakfast because it makes me have to poop
In Pueblo, CO, USA. We eat chorizo, potatoes, and eggs a lot for breakfast
fatty :D
I come from russia, and a typicall breakfast for me is a bottle of Vodka
dolboeb! #facepalm

weeaboo always look the exact same.
Why is it when anyone ever speaks Japanese that is not Japanese are automatically a weeb? I guess people now and days don't know the importance of learning more then one language. Sigh
ChikachanParadise Because 99% of the people who want to learn Japan's silly chinese are weebs.
+91ca6522 51efd138 but dude 99% of weebs can't even get past like the 5 major words they hear in anime
Devin Mysyk Exactly...they all look and sound the exact same.
+91ca6522 51efd138 I hate weaboos
Lol. I am glad to see I am not the only person geeking out over those! Those are genius!
Ok, Whatever kind of pots you have that have a removable handle... THOSE ARE AMAZING!!!
In the north side of Mexico we usually eat for breakfast carne seca (which is like beef jerky but way better) with tomatoes, onions and eggs, and then we make tacos of that and is soo delicious
I dont actually like to judge how other countries food looks like because here we eat whatever we can, even sheeps heads or cow tongues (barbacoa) which is the traditional sunday breakfast in Nuevo Leon
I live in the US but I studied abroad in Japan for one year two years ago and ever since then, even when I'm home again, I still eat natto with rice and nori (and sometimes with an egg) three times per week for breakfast or as a snack!! It's yummmmm. Love it.
Damn, his English is so cute
My typical breakfast is a smoothie and on the weekends sometimes oatmeal, I am from the US 😊 That is a large breakfast, wow
Rewatching this from 2020 cause I miss the way you make your videos in the past!
(After writing this all out I am surprised I still go out to eat because I don't eat traditional American breakfast fare).
i think the egg/natto/rice combo actually looks really good!
What happens if one continue to stir, does it become a solid?
Having English narrative is very helpful.
Hi! I'm from Brazil and I usually eat french bread with butter and black coffee with sugar for breakfast! It's simple but I think it's delicious!
Ahhhh I can't wait to go home in Japan!
I miss Japanese dishes!
もう待てないよ〜!
The only reason I hate seeing so many Japanese cookies videos on RUclips
*Is how freaking hungry I get*
hmm the usual breakfast here in the USA in Minnesota is eggs, bacon, toast/pancake/waffle/french toast with butter and "maple syrup"(is really flavoured corn syrup usually) or sometimes oatmeal or cold cereal with milk.
Really wanna try that Natto stuff now! But don't know where to get it from D:
+Sparky Sphinx its also extremely healthy, i heard. eat that natto.
I love the natto egg rice just the way you eat it. It's sooo yummy. I also like it with garlic Sriracha sauce.
I might try anything at least once. Nice video by the way. Can you make an omlette with natto?
Breakfast is associated with sugary/sweet food.
loved your video,,can you please post something about typical Japanese vegetarian food
Egg-Natto Rice looks fantastic! Not disgusting, but fantastic! I don't care how it smells, I want to try it.
