Hi Graham. Really enjoy your videos. Starting sea fishing again after a break of 50yrs! Yes 50yrs. Use to fish with my Dad around Deal, Kent on the pier and beach ,when I was a child and then a teenager. Now I am approach your tender years. Moved away from Deal and the sea aged 18yrs and only returned to near the coast 21months ago when retired to Exeter, Devon. When I started up again, and even now, realised how little i know so really grateful for your informative channel. Only been out 4 times in total since moving here, not caught much, but feel a bit more confident on each trip as I sort something else out that isnt right or improve on something. I love your enthusiasm and absolutely relate to what you speak about and why we want to be out there. Keep making the videos for as long as you can.
Fishing is tough on the beaches for whatever reason. I can only suggest try a bit of fishing into the dark,or try some deeper water from rocks, but if you are of senior years either go with someone or take care. I reckon you might get more fish off rocks .Maybe a drive down Devon to the South Coast.
It's good to just get out. Spend the night in the car to get some good fishing in. That is truly living life to it's fullest. Much respect to you. It's always a pleasure watching your videos.
I've done all the fancy-assed hotels being flown all over the World for fishing magazines, and while you think they are great they can actually be very souless places. Shower, shave, sleep and get straight out again. I prefer motels quite frankly, called efficiences ,where they have their own mini kitchen...Or of course the car.Just as long as I can lay flat. I wouldn't try sleeping all night sat upright in the driver's seat...
@@TAFishing I understand that with allot of these hotels. They feel empty. Going out on a old logging trail with a vehicle or a nice fishing hole near the beach is nice. Of course clear out the backseat to lay flat. I am the same way. I can't sleep upright. But going out like that. Some really true adventures can be had. It's something magical catching fish and frying it up next to the water like that.
I lived and travelled in an estate car for 4 years ...I loved it! One of the best times in my life! I travelled the whole of America, Canada and northern Mexico sleeping in a hire car!
Congratulations on the PB Graeme. We have all watched in equal frustration at the poos state of shore fishing again. Seems to get worse every year on the south east coast where I am. So thank you for your perseverance as you have lifted my spirits to get my ass out again and have another go. Never give up. Cheers. Rog
Yep everything is pricey, your fishing is full of knowledge, and so real, love these mate, really enjoy your company, the compostion shots, excellent work.

Love your beach fishing videos! If I lived near a beach, I would be fishing there. Seems a much more free way of fishing than all the day tickets and rules.
You got that part right...that's why I like sea fishing, grab rods, get some bait and just go fishing..Without the constantly changing rules and regs ,bait bans, ban this, dip that, restrict this etc of the freshwater. It does give you a sense of freedom.
@@TAFishing Thank you Graeme. Yeah a vey mixed bag of work here. I hurt my hand a few months ago trapped between two very, very cages of Linen. That as a bit epic!!...in an epic place....now I know the grey ghosts are not your cup of tea a little bit all at sea......but what was swimming about in that brackish water....
70 wow Graeme, if im like that at your age will be a happy man, love the early morning, to right if you can, you will, agree with you, great content, cheers mate.
I'd be interested in fishing in that creek mouth. Freelining some bread on light gear would turn up some mullet which are good eating, excellent bait and good fighters on light gear. Seeing a beach made of nothing but cobble and shingle is always a weird experience for me as an Australian. All of our beaches are sand or rocky headlands, so this is all a bit odd. Nice to see though. Those bull huss are a pretty fish.
Hi Graeme ,great vid as ever ,have just started reading your freshwater baits book , enjoying it immensely but I have a question, when you're gone (many decades from now )will Mike inherit your chair and corduroys?all the best sir
I've never used spider crab on the peel before. Do you know if there's a specific month and stretch of the channel that's best for getting them? or do they change all year round like others in Devon.? ta GP. hope all is well.
Brilliant video again I started watching your videos 6 years ago and I fish basic not bothered about what my rod is like it gets the same fish as a £500 rod 😀 😉
I really hope I'm upto half as much as you are when I'm your age. 27 now but feel about 50 most days. Yes you need either a blow up mattress or a folding camp bed...the hard van floor would do my back no good at all. I use both a camp bed and a padded self inflating thingy and I'm sorted.
I am about to try surfcast fishing and want to buy cheap 14 foot rod. does it really matter that much or the cheap one can get me started just as good as more expensive ones?
A good rod blank is always worth getting but I don't know what the latest models are . However I did see some combo beach outfits that were just in at Grant's Tackle Up,in Fleet,Hampshire,I think the package included leads and rigs plus a tripod .It was a 3-piece 12 foot rod, reel, line, the lot. Maybe look him up and see what they were ..it might save you a few pounds. I remember they threw 4/6 ounce I think, which is about average. as to make,I really can't remember.
Braver man than me spending the night at the beach roughing it. . I'm just a little older than you but like a proper toilet at my age. That's important to me so would find a local b&b or hotel room. Nice rock salmon fishing though!
Give up on the braid Graham . On the channel you want 20lb mono and a weak link for the lead of 12/15lb. Braid is great for spinning or or piers but crap off a shingle beach or reef mark.
