    I often wondered if you could sail with just the jib. Glad you did it and again always appreciate the physics lesson !

      I'm glad that this answered your question. Next video - just the jib in light wind

    That looked like lots of fun and I can't believe the speeds achieved with just a jib rigged!!! Y'all were cooking along pretty good!!! Crazy fun stuff!!! I 😂

      It certainly was a lot of fun, to be out in that much wind and it be easy!!!

      @@JoyriderTV Me too, I would have thought there would be so much lee helm, that the drag from the rudders would have canceled most of your head way. Also surprised you didn’t get any do gooders on the beach letting you know you forgot something.. Always had people yell at me to put my rudders down, when I would practice steering by sail trim only “You need to put your rudders down!!”

    Question: when you want to point upwind, why have the jib traveller fully out? You could have gained 10 degrees angle at least, or?

      Was thinking same thing, didn't seem like they were anywhere close to being in danger of capsizing.

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  2 года назад

      To be honest I just went into full power high wind mode and traveled the jib out now that you mention it yes it would have been a very good idea

      As luck would have it when we went out for this test it happened to coincide with the wind not being as fierce as it was 10 minutes earlier

    How did you tighten the rig, great to know that it can be done. I was thinking of a HC 14 mainsail or the easy mainsail i sail in New York that sail is not popular here. Great job

    I think it’s easier to tack than with main sail alone without the jib ! (With HC16)

      @@millel2264 yes, you can make trapeze lines either with wire or dyneema rope - the rope is quick easy and very strong

    Any risk to the rig without the support of the main and mainsheet in such a strong wind. I guess your trapezes were adding some "backstay"
