As I previously posted I came for 2 weeks in 1998 for work, single bloke and a bit of an adventure. I had an atlas as a child and the Philippines map had always intrigued me. When I was 12 there was the Thrilla in Manila and again I had thoughts of may be 1 day coming here and I did in 1998. 25 years on married to a Filipina with 3 children my adventure still continues. So far I have been to 59 provinces and 110 islands so still loads more to go. Keep going to out of reach, an not so well known places and show YT the real Philippines.
Hey, Kumander Daot. Don't lose hope. Adding organic fertilizer is great(not synthetic, please) , but there's one simple way of getting your calamansi to bear abudantly. Gather banana plant stalks and leaves, take the whole tree, if you may call it, then cut them into 100mm length. Put them around the calamansi tree(on the ground). This will provide the necessary Potassium the plant needed to bear abundant fruit. Try it and you'll be amazed. You don't lose anything if you try it.
Wise words to live by, KumanderD. Pinas has many beautiful natural resources and precious assets (beaches, lakes, landscapes, culture, people), but also a few challenges to overcome (weather) and to overlook (manana habit). ... LIFE is not meant to be "planned," but rather, to be LIVED -- a day at a time. As the saying goes, focus on the JOURNEY, and not the destination. Tomorrow is not promised, but Today is a gift - a "PRESENT", so to speak. If your life were a glass, Anselm, would it be half empty or half full? You may not have planned on staying in the Philippines more than a month, but you followed your heart❤ and 8+ YEARS later, you have Nhel, Lily, friends (lots of 'em!), and countless Viewers and Subs. Kumander, to quote John Lennon from one of his songs: "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." It's a good thing that we don't know what life has in store for us. We wouldn't want to know what's coming when it's going to be bad, and it's always welcome when we get pleasantly surprised as it turns out good. I wish for you many pleasant surprises. 🙏

As your passion, income source, joy and humble gratitude of what the country and God can offer, you've found yourself happiest and living a purpose-driven life. Thank you for loving the Philippines and we love your work, sincerity and openness that inspire us.
Just a Tip @kumander, Based on the recommendations of experienced calamansi farmers, it is advised to ignore or completely disregard the flowering stage of the plants unless they have an abundance of branches and leaves. Pruning in the early stages is necessary to ensure uniform growth.
The experienced calamansi farmers here have told me not to prune or remove flowers/fruit (except dead branches, and overripe fruit) as it damages and weakens the plants - at least for the first couple of years. Once they are large enough then that can be done. For now they just need to grow freely. That's the advice I've been given 🙂
@@KumanderDaot Maybe, they may have a different view or practice they are following, but looking at their harvest for this season, about 400 trees have yielded a bountiful harvest of 300 bags (30kg each) in a single cycle. Without pruning, the tree won't produce many branches from which flowering should start. More branches on the calamansi tree lead to more flowers and fruit.
@@KumanderDaotPruning can be done at 3 years; however, it may depend on the origin of the grafted trees. Pruning should begin when the trees are around 2 years old at the early stages, approximately 3-4 months before they start flowering.
