That's a solid looking 2284. Those Cyclops supers were great tractors...just the right mix of old technology (82 series frame) but with a few modern conveniences like the Command engine.

Yeah it seems to be a good tractor. I got the deck into the shop yesterday after pressure washing it and it’s like new underneath, still don’t understand why the guy painted it black. I’m currently trying to figure out the right yellow for these cyclops tractors so I can paint it yellow again.

The paint color has many names depending on the manufacturer.
I try to stay away from the overpriced dealer stock to start with so let's get that out of the way for starters.
Valspar has some excellent paint if you can find it and it's called by IH Red
      IH White
      Transportation Yellow or
      Federal yellow.
      RUSTOLEUM - Old CAT Yellow,
Almond is the white is also nice paint to work with.
      Federal Yellow is also known
As School Bus Yellow have to be careful with different manufacturers shades.

awesome! i just picked up an 1864 and that whine from the hydro and power steering is loud like yours but from what im reading its normal for them to be loud.

Looks like that was a good deal! It’s kinda like Cubs equivalent to a 420. I noticed that the power steering sounded a little whiny. Is that just a normal sound?

Yeah similar in size to a 420 I’d say. The power steering was probably whining for a couple of reasons. One, it was cold, and two the RPMs were low. I don’t think it sounded like that when I drove it around, I’ll have to take notice next time.
