Actually in Penang, when we say Rojak we are referring to the fruit mixture with black rojak sauce. The cucur + potatoes + egg + everything that you ordered and ate with spicy gravy is the pasembur. But many will misunderstood us when we are outside Penang when both pasembur and rojak are called rojak.
Rojak literally means salad where u just mix whatever u put inside a bowl or plate with special sauce. Mixed fruit is another type of rojak.Pasembur too. In Kuching there is a place called Rojak Kucei where they use fried chicken with various of “cucur” or fritters and mixed it with special sauce. It is so delicious. There was a time when few officers from Inland Revenue Department “camping” at this stall just to do the estimate how much the stall owner is making in a month in order to tax him.
Rojak means mixed of many things. Rojak buah is mixed fruits..comes with sambal petis/asam boi powder. Rojak pasembor is mixed of fritters (cucur udang/bawang/sayur), vegetables (sengkuang, timun), fried tofu, boiled eggs ..what else??
What I like about racheal is how she blends soo much with the culture and acceptance.. Many westerners love PDA yet she respects the culture and no kissing kissing in public... Hats off
Rojak and pasembor the difference is the sauce, mostly rojak used peanuts base sauce and pesembur mix a bit peanut, sweet potatoes and other ingredients. But another rojak is rojak buah
Pasembur Rojak is call Indian rojak in Singapore. Let me know if anyone is interested. I can make the Singapore version. I shall do it on my channel. Kumar, your channel is one of the channels that inspired me to make my channel. I just started.😍
Gosh.... the Pasembur!!!!!! In Selangor pre-covid this is everywhere; but now, it is so scarce it is no longer a walking distance to get one. 😭 Thank you so much for showing us all the corner-corner stalls that are still active and famous among locals! Need to plan a trip to Penang! By the way, the mural on the wall, that stall sells "Chinese wedding gift biscuits" . It is like mooncakes (because of the lotus paste / red bean paste / green bean paste) but the pastry is flaky and you have 2 colours: Red (Red bean filling) and Yellow (lotus / green bean filling) - it indicates that your family is marrying out your daughter. Looked like it was a very famous stall too to be as a heritage memory lane mural. (It also said something to do with baked pastry too besides the wedding ones)
This place is a great breakfast joint, with roti bakaq and stuff. As for the pasemboq and rojak, in penang we call this pasemboq (pasembur), rojak is the fruits mixed with the sauce. Only other states call this rojak for not-sure-what-reason. Pasemboq is where they will really charge you crazily if you just take whatever you want. Some places will offer you crabs and squids, and charge you almost 100 bucks. They will know if you are not locals, just by the way you order.
HI Logesh ,Rachel,Zaden & Kyren Who what a great selection of food that you have just eaten so hope you have enjoyed your time in Penang and you head back to KL you mention that you only have another week in Malaysia before returning back to USA so are you still in Malaysia or back in the USA.
I highly recommend this I food store is being more than 40yrs . The best passembur for me .Big portion and tasty fried food wth their signature sauce. Thanks for sharing guys.
Rojak is the chinese soy sauce fruity version with otak udang etc whereas Pasembur is the mamak version with veg & cucur (not kuih) or fritters with sweet potato &/or peanut sauce
I just made a trip to Penang in July and I've tried cendol in SS15 Subang which is one of the best and their rojak is very unique..must try. I must admit that Teochew cendol has more authentic taste as it has very fresh coconut milk in its cendol and yes agree that the sweetness is just right...spot on.
Rojak is mix. It can be pasembur or fruit rojak because you mix everything in pasembur to. We also have buku rojak during our school days. Sometimes students use to jot down notes from every subject, or just doodles
When in Penang the correct terms are: Pasembor - the mixed fried items with vegs with peanut sauce Rojak - refers to only rojak buah with thick black sauce with peanuts (Klang valley slang)
While you are all in Penang, I suggest that you go to Padang Brown for dinner. There you can try its signature foods like Yong tau fu, beef/lamb soup etc. Good luck.
Ayyyy this placeeee hahaha i always sigh when i saw ppl went to padang kota for pasembor when this place is for me a bit better (in terms of price idk) but i have another place i always prefer for pasembor
Kumar and Rachel, inside story… the cendol guy opposite the famous teow Chu cendol…is a relative. Thats what I was told. I guess that’s how they keep the competition off the area…
Penang Pasembur is the Best..You guy have choose the right place for Pasembur in Penang..Me too if I go back to my hometown will gain weight. .. 😂 But its worth it. Because so many lists of craving 😋🫣
I've lived in Penang for nearly all my life but I haven't heard of this Pasembur before let alone eating it! Wow! I really gotta try this! Looks so good to be eaten and I believe it must have tasted great too! I didn't know that there are 2 different cendols along Kheng Kwee Street. I love the famous Teochew cendol, but I haven't tried the other one. Gotta try the other one someday. I love Muar Chee too and that reminds me I haven't eaten one for a long time. It's also so funny when you said that you had one more week in America when you were in Penang, Malaysia. Hahaha. Anyway, do come back to Penang when you can!
Yes, it's true Bro.. I am Penangite and always choose the cendol stall opposite the famous one.. Many locals especially the older Penangites mentioned that stall is the best cendol.
What's really crazy is that the Pasembur stall actually had a plate large enough to fit your order, which means that they get these size orders regularly! LOL Also, cross Beach Street nearby and you have the famous spicy Nasi Lemak!
When you come to Northern states, Rojak is called Passembur and Rojak Buah is called only Rojak Rojak in general means 'random mixtures', so people who mixed words from several languages into a sentence were using 'Bahasa Rojak' eg: "Dey Macha, you want to makan sini or tapao?"
U went to the best place for pesembor in Penang and the cheapest! You guys should eat there and drink the coffee/Iced coffee next to the pesembor cart! Their coffee is the best!
for Penang people Rojak = Fruit + the black sauce spicy/sweet Pasembor\Pasemboq = Fried things + the special sauce if in KL Rojak = (Fruit + the black sauce spicy/sweet) / (Pasembor\Pasemboq = Fried things + the special sauce)
Logesh, if you stay for another 2 weeks in Penang, believe me Rachel will tell you which stall what food you have to find her...😂 or she will find it herself! Haus pulak tengok cendol tu panas-panas nie...
Why can’t the opposite cendol seller listen to feedbacks and improve his cendol. I can’t understand how he can sell the same thing everyday with so little customers while his competitors has a long queue everyday. Its like getting slap in the face every day but yet refuse to change
Nanti kumaar you balik state you pun buat rojak dgn cendol and mintak father in law mat Saleh you Rasa. Buat vlog ok about that. Jadi bawa balik rempah rempah as needed...
Trust me... This coming 1 week you guys will feel super duper fast compared to all the weeks before... It always does 😅... Nevertheless, make the best of quality time with your beloved family members and friends the remaining week you are in Malaysia and hopefully I'll be able to host you if drop by Melaka in your future visits 🤲 🤗
For me Pasembur is a type of rojak. Its like rojak buah, rojak pasembur etc..Rojak in my dictionary is a mixture of so many variety in one melting pot. Then all being mixed until perfection..The gravy is one that determine whether or not its a good rojak. From another perspective.Rojak is the food version of Malaysia. We are a big melting pot of varying religion, races, culture etc.I love rojak...Be it pasembur, buah or whatever..

3:50 Rojak = mixture. That's why sometime if people talk mix English + Malay + Chinese + Indian etc. They will call it "Bahasa rojak" = rojak language
English + Malay + Javanese + Chinese + Indian + Dutch = Malindo
Hi Good morning 🙏

Rojak makna nya campur campur, campur baur& campuran

Superb Penang. No 1 heaven of foods👍👍👍

Rojak is mix. It can be pasembur or fruit rojak because you mix everything in pasembur to. We also have buku rojak during our school days. Sometimes students use to jot down notes from every subject, or just doodles

Would love to come back to Penang again! But we really need to start growing 2 bellies each 😂
Union Street Kareem Pasembur, had that last time I was in Penang 👍🏻
Damn... RM65 worth of pasembor...
And it's super common to hear "I'm gaining weight in Penang..." when one visiting the Food Paradise Island... 😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣
Yes, it's true Bro.. I am Penangite and always choose the cendol stall opposite the famous one.. Many locals especially the older Penangites mentioned that stall is the best cendol.
Kami dari Selangor kalau datang penang, mesti cari 2 benda ,pasembur dan Nasi Kandar👍😂🥰😋😋
Rojak contains only fruits & veges while pasembur contains everything including boiled eggs & gravy.
Kena try ni 😅 by the way rachel, rojak means a mixing this and that or combination of whatever. Colours also can rojak one.
What's really crazy is that the Pasembur stall actually had a plate large enough to fit your order, which means that they get these size orders regularly! LOL Also, cross Beach Street nearby and you have the famous spicy Nasi Lemak!
I love pasembor but last time my visit to Penang. I can't taste anything due to high fever. The only comfort food I had was soup.
Oh no! That’s very sad indeed 😔
@@KumaarFamily Indeed.. maybe next time when I visit again.
Hopefully you're doing well right now

@@madkhaliqfarhan hi hi hi koyak kerr….
Wow I must go Penang
Makan makan ~
Makan kena duduk la.
for Penang people
Rojak = Fruit + the black sauce spicy/sweet
Pasembor\Pasemboq = Fried things + the special sauce
if in KL
Rojak = (Fruit + the black sauce spicy/sweet) / (Pasembor\Pasemboq = Fried things + the special sauce)
TKO !!! Unanimous decision,
Famous for obvious reasons.
Logesh, if you stay for another 2 weeks in Penang, believe me Rachel will tell you which stall what food you have to find her...😂 or she will find it herself! Haus pulak tengok cendol tu panas-panas nie...
We locals also prefer the long line cendol
Hai Kumar...are you and family still in Malaysia?
Back in the US...
Pasembur is a mamak dish(Indian Muslim). What you’re eating is pasembur.
berapa ringgit la kalau bertimbun macam tu... aku agak mesti seratus lebih
Dont Forget jeruk pak ali
😅
PASEMBUR.
Why can’t the opposite cendol seller listen to feedbacks and improve his cendol. I can’t understand how he can sell the same thing everyday with so little customers while his competitors has a long queue everyday. Its like getting slap in the face every day but yet refuse to change
Sometimes, it's better to deal with a few patient customers than having to deal with countless impatient customers...
I m local, I also prefer the long queue famous chendol
Pasembur is basically another type of rojak. In other states is it usually called as rojak India because it was invented by Indian Muslims in Malaysia
Good to know. Thank you!
Penang, The Home of Mamak foods.
Way way better than KL Version
If green tea is the most Japanese ice cream flavor, then "gula Melaka" is the most Malaysian ice cream flavor! Yang, jom kahwin? 😇
