Most women HATE the boyfriend (and the friend too). They were so wildly unsupportive for what was just 6 MONTHS of Andy being on the corporate grind. Everyone has periods of their lives where work has to take precedent, just for a little while, but all they did was shame her, belittle her work, and just complain all while taking gifts she got as perks from her work! Also that friend who yelled at her for RECIEVING a kiss on the check is crazy! She did not initiate. In fact everything she says to that guy until she is single is a polite rejection. You’d think a friend of “16 years” would not jump to conclusions.
Also it is very interesting that bf is struggling with work the whole time Andy is doing well, and only forgives her at the end once HE’S been promoted and she’s unemployed. That is suspect. It’s like he only likes her when her self esteem is low. It WAS a toxic dynamic and I hope that they don’t get back together.
Everyone in Andy’s life was just so not understanding. Runway sucks. Miranda is cruel, but those friends were fair-weather friends.

I recall somewhere else countered to those supporting Nate, that they are 2 young people trying to build careers in NY. It is normal that they would not have a lot of time to see each other owing to work demands and conflicting schedule. She cited her own situation and how she and her boyfriend made it work.
Andi's boyfriend and friends are showing both hypocrisy and naivete. They all want to be successful in prestigious jobs but Andi is the first one to get an important opportunity that could lead to amazing things. It's also as Joe and Kevin stated a high level job where the demands are insanely high. None of the others are experiencing that. It was only for 1 year. A small price for proving her worth and mettle. And she did prove herself, partly thanks to Nigel. Even after Andi quits and pisses her off, the film version of Miranda is still professional enough to give Andi a good recommendation.
Nate is now a sous-chef. Good luck with that guy! That means his work load will be much higher, the job stress will be more comparable to what Andi went through and he'll be working nights. And it will be a lot less glamorous than working at Runway. It can be just as toxic as working for Miranda. At least Andi got some perks out it as well as beautiful clothes

Her bf and her both agreed at the beginning that it was only for one year, so I never understood why within that same year he felt so betrayed by her commitment to her job. HOWEVER - my opinion is that Andy becoming a workaholic is not just due to this industry… I’m finally accepting this label myself after years of my spouse calling me a workaholic and it’s very much just in me - regardless of what industry I’m in I live my job and in fact, it’s even worse when I actually like what I do…. So I have a feeling that even when Andy gets that job at a newspaper she will likely still be a workaholic, all about the job and they will not work out because that is not Nate’s cup of tea. And that’s his right. Everyone doesn’t want to date that kind of person

And it seems like the reason why one year with Miranda would get Andy a job at any magazine she wanted is because of how hard Miranda works her assistants and her high expectations, as well as the connections the assistants form while performing Miranda's tasks. It's like doing an internship, and her bf, being a chef, should have understood that!

This is one of those cases where I’d say the movie is far, far better than the book. I know it’s based on actual events to a certain degree, but book-Andy is much less sympathetic, while her poor boyfriend is busting his ass teaching disadvantaged kids through Teach for America. It’s kind of a reversal from the movie situation, where you feel sorry for Andy and her boyfriend comes off as needy and unsupportive.

Also her friends are horrible, playing around with her phone, when they know how horrible her boss is, and the friend in the gallery "In dont know this Andrea" and not even giving her a moment to explain, when she basically just stod there when a guy was flirting with her and she said "no".

What a nice surprise. The Devil Wears Prada is quite a film and was a major career boost for Streep.
Just FYI: The actor from the Mentalist is Simon Baker.
That was not the actress who was in the Deadpool films. That would be Morena Baccarin who was also known for the tv show Firefly and who played a re-occuring villain on the Mentalist
Andi's boyfriend, even the actor who plays him admits the character was a petulant jerk
Andi's girlfriend was played by Tracey Thomas and was in the film version of Rent and co-starred on Cold Case
There's a cut scene from the film that not only foreshadows Miranda's divorce but explains Miranda's choice to take Andi to Paris. At the benefit, there's an ugly moment that almost happens involving Miranda's husband who's had a little too much to drink. It would have happened in front of the head of the company. Andi thinks fast and able to prevent it from happening.. The scene ends with Miranda mouthing "thank you". The night at the benefit shows that while Emily is more passionate about fashion and the industry, Andi is better at the job and has way more potential.
oh and Nigel wouldn't have clothes that would fit a size 6 since they would have been sample size clothes and were created for professional models to wear.
The book is different. More of a revenge by the writer on Anna Winter, editor of Vogue. Also the book has a sequel and they did make a bad musical version of it last year

If you liked the movie, spare yourself the headache of reading the book. Andrea comes off as completely unlikable, entitled, and has obviously never worked a day in her life. I don't blame Miranda at all for being a bitch to the book version of Andy; it's not a matter of she's just not into fashion, she's simply a really BAD employee. Also, Stanley Tucci's character does not exist in the book, and every gay man in the novel is a 2-dimensional caricature.
