It's definitely a good idea to keep the bathroom neutral because it is so expensive to redo. Also there is nothing wrong with a tub/shower combo and even keeping a non-freestanding tub (my husband is a carpenter/contractor and has mentioned that they tend to cool down quite quickly in comparison to box tubs as the air around the tub inside the box acts as a sort of insulation from the greater home air flow). Also it's great to see a more average person reno including the realities of difficulties and costs. Very few people can afford the massive renos we tend to see influencers do when they buy a house.
I call them "Executive Showers" when you treat yourself to all your best products and take an eternity drying off. Always makes me feel amazing, no matter how awful the day has been.
Why don't you just move the door to be centred to the bathroom? that way when you're in the kitchen it's looking at the bath rather than the toilet, especially if you did a freestanding feature bath and a feature tile on that back wall. Then you can just put the towel rail to where the door currently is. You could also do a cavity sliding door rather than a traditional swing door to save space :) - I'm an interior designer btw and one of my favourite spaces to design are small bathrooms!
You are correct, Lucy. What I wanted to do today IS listen to some random person on the internet talk about their bathroom plans. Living for house content in this non-eventful time in life
fr honestly, i go a couple of days without watching any youtube vids and as soon as I watch one of your vlogs i feel sO at ease and it's like i'm watching one of my friend's daily routine, honestly it's so heartwarming and homely i love it, the ease of watching any of your videos brings me back to earth, maybe you think it's dull? but this sort of 'normal' everyday content is so grounding and appreciated
One thing I have learned and that my parents have taught me, ALWAYS choose the tiles that you love. “Will I like/love this in 10-15 years?” It might be a bit boring but it’s something I have found helpful during renovations :)
I am UNBELIEVABLY bored of thinking about what meals the household are going to be eating each day. Bloody loved this, I'm absolutely living for your content at the minute.
My recent bathroom renovation has been the absolute BAIN OF MY LIFE. I also wanted to move my toilet but couldn't and then when we ripped out the hideous corner bath, discovered that the top of the structural bit of the stairs went into the bathroom. So my options were to either brick up a window or build my bath on a platform, and i've gone with the latter. I got a gorgeous freestanding bath from Victoria Plumbing if you haven't looked there yet! It's amazing how obsessive you get over tile samples isn't it 😂😂 Can't wait to see what the bathroom ends up looking like 😍
Having the most shit time with life in general and I’ve been rewatching your videos. I’m so happy I got the notification for you uploading. Really made my day.
Im so sorry to hear that. Make sure you're taking care of yourself, and remember that just getting through the day is enough right now. Sending lots of love xx
That Matilda pancake reference made me so happy hahaha. I love that film so much. Tracy Beaker bowl, Matilda, Disney prince hair....I mean I’m only 5 mins in and it’s already a wonderful video haha 🧡
This is exactly the content I want and need right now! I’m currently building my first house (a dream that actually was realised as possible when I watched your video on saving for your house) and I live for videos like this to see someone I admire going through the same thing as me. Thank you! Can’t wait to see the rest
We're currently in the process of trying to re-do our small and strangely shaped bathroom so to be honest this is exactly the kind of content I need right now. I thought about making our tile samples in to coasters also!
If you can, try and have the overspill/tap on the side of the bath nearest the door as then your eye isn't drawn to it if it is against the wall if that makes sense? Loving the realistic content of renovating and the up's and downs that come with it :)
We use a big marble tile like you have there as a kind of chopping board / surface protector in the kitchen, works a treat and looks nice 👍 Also, choosing a tradesperson who actually treats you respectfully and makes you feel comfortable, not like an idiot = MASSIVELY UNDERRATED! So important!
i really enjoyed this vlog, it felt so homey and needed! and for what it’s worth i’ve never seen anything as beautiful as the colour coded threads! that’s my kind of content!
This is the kind of lovely, wholesome content that I needed to watch this morning. I too am a crosstiching grandma (at the grand old age of 28), seeing those threads being organised was surprisingly very satisfying 😄 & your sense of humour always gives me a giggle. My partner is a LOTR fan so would be v jealous of the valentine's card (even with the serial killer style letter stickers!). You've cheered a girl up, after I had a near sleepless night talking to my mum about the big things in life till the early hours. What's lockdown without a bit of existential crisis thrown in?! 😅 So thanks 😊
Hi Lucy, thinking through bathroom Reno myself currently, you’re right it’s a nightmare. Just thought I would share a view on the freestanding bath shower combo. My mum has one of these and it looks stunning, but in reality it’s awful. You can’t take a shower without your head getting wet unless you have a very long flat bottomed bath because you are always underneath the shower head.. The shower curtain goes all the way round inside the bath and you stick to it because you can’t get away from it. If you had the freestanding bath with a shower attachment on the taps you could at least wash your hair in the bath, but trust me if you like a strong jet stand up shower that doesn’t go in your face unless you’re double jointed, go for an upgrade on what you have now with the screen. Crital style screens and indented shelf all make it feel more modern if that’s your thing. Can’t remember the layout of the hall but could always move door into the bathroom to the left so that toilet is now behind a wall. Keep us posted!
I live for thread libraries and realistic house reno's 🙌 also loving the goal vibe to the tiles and flooring...can see the houseplants and greenery now!
I've been shielding and haven't seen my family since last summer. When I got my vacation date I cried with relief, that I made it with out catching covid-19, then I felt guilty for feeling that way . But in 3 months 3 weeks I get to see my family , unless we are not aloud until everyone has been vacated. My fur babies stop me from going completely nuts 🤪 and I look forward to your videos Lucy always ❤ flo and Adam to hope you had a lovely valentines xxx
Love some wholesome Lucy and Adam content. The way you smile at each other kills me, in the process of buying my first tiny tiny house, been rewatching your whole saga. In one video you’d stayed inside for 3 whole days to let various men in, if only that Lucy knew 3 days inside is the dream😀
In my old uni flat we used to called an MOT shower a boyfriend shower coz we only ever did it when our boyfriends were coming to visit🤣 so we’d yell down the corridor ‘T-10 mins til boyfriend shower!!!’ and everyone would rush to brush their teeth and have a wee before the bathroom was taken over for an hour
We just bought a place and truly thought that having your own place was all about doing everything you want to do. We quickly learned that owning a place is actually entirely about being told over and over all the things you can’t do.... 🤷♀️
YES, speaking as someone who bought a house with a white tiled bathroom floor do not do it! Get the dark wood! It looks dirty so quick, hair is everywhere I have to Hoover every 3 days and it’s rubbish. Looks great and makes the room feel enormous but definitely not worth it, I’m excited to see how it turns out for you guys!
Hi Lucy! Don't get vlog fear, it was perfect. So funny, I DOOOOOO love hearing your thoughts on bathroom renos, it was lovely to see Adam. I was impressed by the colour co-ordination of your thread. Now just to make you feel better, your vlog was more exciting than my entire day xox cheers from Australia xoxo
Loving the ideas for the bathroom reno, It's going to look super cute! I hope everything works out for you! I would probably suggest reconsidering the hardwood flooring. It's a nightmare to maintain and the humidity and water droplets could rot the wood. This is completely unsolicited advice, I'm sure you have done your own research and have/will have this convo with your contractor. Really happy to have a new video from you! Hopefully, you will take us along with you on the bathroom journey :D
Lucy, the bathroom reno is so exciting! Those picks look amaze! 2 pieces of unsolicited advice: consider where you put the drain in the tub. Lily Pebbles put hers in the center (granted she has a 1 year old), and she regretted it - it was in the way. And for the white grout for the wall tile - that can also dirty really easily. It may sound horrible, but check out brown grout. The first time I saw it, I was shocked by how much I liked how it looked. Just a thought. Can’t wait to see the finished product!!!
I really love your chill home vlogs! You just seem like the loveliest person. It's difficult to explain, but it's like very needed comfort these days, watching you and Adam. Oh and btw, the condescending plumber - that would also 100% have made me cry!!
Have you thought about door options? Could you get one of those sets of doors which makes it look like a cupboard so the too smaller doors? Could hide the loo alittle more 😋
I absolutely loved this. You two are so adorable and hilarious 😆 Proper cheered me up and made me smile. Also how satisfying was the thread organiser....please put them in rainbow colour order! 😆 🌈 xx
Love the tiles for the bathroom! The wooden floor is really pretty and would look lovely but I would not recommend it for bathrooms. The water/humidity can damage the floor, create mold and make the floor warp. Unless you are extremely careful, clean up every little puddle, maintain it by putting seal treatment (or whatever it's called) over it regularly and air the bathroom so there won't be too much steam but even then it can happen over time. Tiles would be so much easier to maintain and you wouldn't have to worry about all of that
I bought a 120cm bath because I wanted a big sink. Still a good decision. 140 or 150 is probably the sweet spot if you can in a small room, but I didn’t want to give up my sink for it.
Can 100% relate to the bathroon plans being crushed!! And it takes soo f-ing long to find stuff you like, from a decent company, that is the right dimensions etc. But...the bathroom we ended up with like 6 months later, is beautiful and we get comments on it often 😊 so stick with it. Its also a really nice feeling when you can tell people you designed it all! xxx
Your vlogs are always so relaxing to watch, love the house content. If you love doing cross stitch I recommend diamond paintings! Bought one last week and I love it, so therapeutic. Spent this morning putting each number in the little storage pots I bought that arrived today. Basically a paint by number but using little diamonds as the picture itself is sticky and they do Disney/Harry Potter ones!! ☺️
Can't believe I've clicked so fast on a bathroom tiles video, but here I am and I'm loving it 😎 and I don't know what's different, maybe the hair? But you're looking extra gorgeous today 😊
This is my kinda content. I spent last year designing my bathroom (and eventually getting the work done) and doing a mammoth cross stitch (which is still a work in progress). Love the neutral choices. Have you considered the splashing that will probably occur with a freestanding bath and overhead shower? I really wanted to go freestanding but space was limited so I sacrificed it for the practicality of the watertight rectangular bath with glass screen. Also went for a bath filler instead of taps as I really don’t like cleaning taps! But I realise that look is a bit modern and not for everyone. I got a tiled bath panel as well which helps it look a bit more upmarket than the standard plastic.
What might help create more space in the bathroom is to replace your current door with a sliding door of some sort. Don't know how much that would cost or whatever, but might be worth looking into :) Looking forward to seeing your bathroom all done!
Lucy, just a thought, and maybe it has already been considered-or maybe isn’t even a potential for consideration at all, but what about moving the bathroom door over so it doesn’t look right in onto the toilet? You could even make it into a pocket style door so it doesn’t interfere elsewhere in the bathroom? I would think that would be less expensive than the attempt to move plumbing would have been, no?
A friend of mine has a free standing bath and it’s amazing, however, try to get one where the plug isn’t in the middle. She is forever complaint about un plugging it whilst lounging in the bath 😂
3:15 wilko 👏 got it! I went to the Range the other day specifically looking for new glasses and couldn't find feck all. Love your glasses, so wilko it is 😁
Very informative. I'm with you regarding one of the basic principles in bathroom design that you shouldn't have to see toilet first when you open the door. So, I'm wondering - was the option to move the door not possible either?
I think the Herringbone pattern already looks a bit dated (if you love it by all means go for it) and you'd probably also need more tiles for this pattern because you need to cut them more often. Vertically or horizontally stacked looks modern and more timeless in my opinion and you'd safe a lot of money because you'll need less tiles/less time for the tiler to cut and add the tiles to the wall.
Lucy, Have you considered moving the door over a bit closer to the sink? This would block the view of the toilet from the kitchen. If there isn't enough space for a regular door you can look at pocket doors or barn style doors. Just a thought.
Every DIY facebook group has posts about layouts and people are just like 'move the bathroom to here and the kitchen there' 😂. You're not alone most people have no idea how difficult and/or costly it is, plumbing is a huge job and soil stacks in particular aren't something you can just move willy nilly. Your bathroom idea sounds nice, I've redone my small bathroom and have redone a shower over the bath and it's still an amazing transforming don't worry.
I literally love your vlogs they always make me giggle!! I know it’s hard because there’s not much to do but honestly love watching you do not very much 😂 hope ur both well x
That thread organizer brings me back to elementary school and making friendship bracelets. Pretty sure it got donated or thrown out a few years later. Wish I still had it now that I’m getting into embroidery.
The only issue with a free standing bath and shower is you’d need a shower curtain and I hate them sticking to you! Something to think about! I loved Louise P’s old bath in her old home, it was like a freestanding but had a screen.
Hi Lucy, when the bathroom is being renovated where are you going to shower and use the toilet? We only have one bathroom in our house as well that we want to renovate but we're not sure what to do in regards hygiene. Thanks :D
This vlog put the biggest smile on my face! Love! Love! Love the threads at the end - and woah to the cross stitch pattern! Love the bathroom chat - although free standing baths are a pain to clean around, so just keep that in mind! Xxx
I’ve literally just this minute got into the bath, was really hoping for a new video to enjoy and you delivered at the precise moment... Having a pamper session, face mask on, estrid razor at the ready (purchased previously from a recommendation from your lovely self!) Love your content, as ever ☺️
I have the pink estrid razor, it's amazing. I'm terrible with shaving and even when my legs look like sasquatch it even manages to take off the leg forest! 😂😂
I love a cosy lazy vlog. Have had a tough couple of months with covid at work (Care home) and I caught it. Even now, its been a month and I still have niggling symptoms that I fear will never leave me! We are only a small home of 28 residents and we lost 12 of them 😭. Missing my family too! You're not alone and your vlogs like this just bring some sunshine to some very difficult times so thank you! Xx
Wow that sounds really rough, I'm so sorry you've been so ill and experienced so much loss. Make sure you're looking after yourself. Really sending all my love to you xx
That sounds so so difficult. I’m a nurse recovering from Covid and can definitely relate but I can’t imagine the sadness of losing such a high level of residents that you must know so well! My thoughts go out to you lovely 💜
Thank you both! 😍😍 days are getting brighter. We are coming out of it and will continue fighting. Covid will not win. 💪💪 I am trying to enjoy precious time with my children now and make the most of having them close by after the hell that was isolation. These are the things that really matter! Keep safe! Xx
@@jennr8083 who knows if we’ll find out😅I had an eye test a few days ago and ended up picking some from Specsavers and they have some really lovely similar ones there! And anything in the £69 bracket or above is 2 for 1 so might be worth having a look?
Does the door make the bathroom feel smaller? Maybe a sliding door could work to maximize space....are those popular where you are from? Love your style!
Yes lad! Absolutely made up with the small bathroom makeover timing 🛀👌🏼! We're moving house on the 25th and the bathroom is so small and needs re-doing, so looking forward to seeing what ideas you go for. Lots of love from Liverpool 🥰 xx
These are my favourite type of videos from you Lucy! I relate to you so much, so impressed with your cross stitching storage! I hope you're doing well! x
23:12 While I continue to head out into the wild world of essential work.. I was amused by this lockdown sentiment: "Aren't you sad to have to stay in?" " No. Everything I I need is here and I don't like that many people." Would totally be moi.
Yeah that's my thinking too! We can add some colour in with towels and stuff :) lovely advice, thanks so much
"THAT'S six inches?!" had me chuckling!

Why don't you just move the door to be centred to the bathroom? that way when you're in the kitchen it's looking at the bath rather than the toilet, especially if you did a freestanding feature bath and a feature tile on that back wall. I had the same thought!
I thought that as well. Probably easier, cheaper and less disruptive to move the door.
Came here to suggest the same thing! I wonder if they've looked at that option and maybe it wouldn't work for some reason.
Ok, upon commenting the same thing before finishing the video just now, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this as well
I had exactly the same thought!

Also went for a bath filler instead of taps as I really don’t like cleaning taps! But I realise that look is a bit modern and not for everyone.
I got a tiled bath panel as well which helps it look a bit more upmarket than the standard plastic.
I love the book storage in the fireplace, what a vibe 📙💞
Loved this one, here alone and laughing out loud. Embroidery organization masterpiece. Great bath ideas and Adam's saucy humour made my day.
yesss home vlogg!💛
Yay! It's been a while haha
What might help create more space in the bathroom is to replace your current door with a sliding door of some sort. Don't know how much that would cost or whatever, but might be worth looking into :)
Looking forward to seeing your bathroom all done!
The fact that you then hummed “itty bitty pretty one” in reference to the Matilda scene. Wow. We are the same human 😂
Oh where is the successful white tile from? I love the sound of your design idea for the bathroom, we’re mid-reno and the bathroom is up next!! x x
nothing better than a lucy home vlog☺️💛✨
Ahhh Im happy you like them! Enjoy :)
Absolutely ADORE you.
Have you thought about rehinging the door so it opens in a different direction or about putting a sliding door in?
About standing bath, please remember it will be very difficult to clean the floor around in such a small space. It would drive me crazy to be honest.
Having a pamper session, face mask on, estrid razor at the ready (purchased previously from a recommendation from your lovely self!)
Love your content, as ever ☺️
What a set up! I am honoured to be in the bath with you....? Okay that sounds weird
@@LucyJaneWood hahaha the honour is all mine 🙈
I have the pink estrid razor, it's amazing. I'm terrible with shaving and even when my legs look like sasquatch it even manages to take off the leg forest! 😂😂
Can't believe I missed this video!
Keep safe! Xx
@@sarahsearle9598 good to hear you’re keeping positive despite such challenges. Take good care of you and yours 💜
Your videos are so relatable. This is my life. It’s like looking in a mirror. Lmao. So good!!!!!
Your glasses are gorgeous! Where are they from, I’m due a new pair after my puppy destroyed them🙃
I was wondering as well, they're so cute and I am due a new pair too.
@@jennr8083 who knows if we’ll find out😅I had an eye test a few days ago and ended up picking some from Specsavers and they have some really lovely similar ones there! And anything in the £69 bracket or above is 2 for 1 so might be worth having a look?
Oh I just love you two so much 😩 fave couple by far 🥰
Does the door make the bathroom feel smaller? Maybe a sliding door could work to maximize space....are those popular where you are from? Love your style!
Love your home clog. Buying our first house later this year and your recent video with buying advice was brilliant. Thank you!
Ahhh congratulations! That's so exciting x
Yes lad! Absolutely made up with the small bathroom makeover timing 🛀👌🏼! We're moving house on the 25th and the bathroom is so small and needs re-doing, so looking forward to seeing what ideas you go for. Lots of love from Liverpool 🥰 xx
Ahhh that's brill, good luck with your move :)
These are my favourite type of videos from you Lucy! I relate to you so much, so impressed with your cross stitching storage! I hope you're doing well! x
You make my day so much brighter, laughing, home talk... loved it all so thank you!!! 😄😄😍💘
Wow I love the embroidery yarn organization😍😍
I’m so excited to see how the bathroom will turn out! Love the tiles!
23:12 While I continue to head out into the wild world of essential work.. I was amused by this lockdown sentiment: "Aren't you sad to have to stay in?" " No. Everything I I need is here and I don't like that many people." Would totally be moi.
Your videos always cheer me up, you are so natural and funny.
Living for that Tracy Beaker bowl!
This was lovely! Excited for the bathroom Reno! 😁👌🏻
