This is my first time being a scholar at WSC. The competition is tomorrow and I'm really nervous. Your tips are an extremely great tool for my debate; thank you! 😄😄
Thank you so much for putting so much effort on the website and the videos that has helped my team alot!! We, scholars, really appreciate the work you have done :)
this is my first year as a scholar. sadly i did not know about your channel in the regional rounds but i plan on using all of your tips and tricks in the following global round which has been postponed dew to the present circumstances. i hope you are doing well. And thank you sooooooo much for making these videos they have helped a lot. I really appreciate it.
Great video! Thanks. I'd like to ask about the motions for debating. Are they always connected to the yearly themes, or can they be about anything? What sort of motions can we expect for 2024, juniors? Thanks!
Thanks for making this. Can you do a video on how to find factual information and use the fifteen minutes accordingly. Also, when should each speaker start writing down his points? During the fifteen minutes preparation time or during the actual speeches. Thanks again Avan. You’re the best
Should we learn science in the order it was discovered Would it be better to bing someone from the past to the present or from the future' And I can't remeber the other one.@@PinkBaylen
If you still want it, as a PF debater, I would say that being clear is more important than ever in this case, contrary to what it is in PF, as presentation is a minor issue. Also, try to be respectful to your opponents (can be hard when you are suppressing the urge to yell at them) bc of the WSC spirit. Don't directly disagree with them, try to say that your impact outweighs theirs or that they are ignoring a factor. Also be flexible, as you never know what the motion is or what they will say. NEVER rigidly focus on ONE format and try to be innovative, because you can bet the judge is tired of hearing repetitive, boring stuff they have heard a hundred times over already.
Greetings Vatsal! Fumbling is completely normal when first debating and often times the only thing that really helps solve it is practice. Remember to sort of "plant" your legs into the ground and not move around so much.
Thankyou! could you help me as i lack confidence while i am told to speak. I get cold feet and i start tk shiver. Can you please tell me how to stay confident
you should not. your main points should come at first speaker, and the others at second speaker, but the third speaker is not supposed to give new points. its because even if its a really good point, usually adjudicators wont take note of it as its coming too late to elaborate it and support your case. the third speaker is restricted to giving rebuttals, a comparatively and a summary.
there's only 2 days left for my WSC regionals (india) and here I am as a first time not knowing what to do... stay tuned to find out if i did qualify or not 💀
Hey man! this was very informative as me and my team are going to the regional round in thiruvalluvar chennai in a week but what do u mean by L or SC words?
He spelled out L-O-S-E-R which te caption corrected to L or SC. btw ill also be coming to the regional round in chennai. im too late to watch the video lol its tomo
yes you can, however it is suggested that you do not use gadgets as some adjudicators are very 'by the book' and may think you are 'cheating' or reading word for word from an article.
4 years later and these videos have actually saved my butt! haha
same bro same
I won 3 out of 3 debates today . I really got help from your guildlines.Thank you dude

Thanks for making this. Can you do a video on how to find factual information and use the fifteen minutes accordingly. Also, when should each speaker start writing down his points? During the fifteen minutes preparation time or during the actual speeches. Thanks again Avan. You’re the best
you should start writing your debate during the 15 minutes preparation time because you may not be able to write the speech during the actual speeches
Thank you very much for the video! It really helped me for the WSC!

Do you happen to have any footage of the 2018 TOC debate showcase? It would be a great opportunity to watch and learn from the top debaters at the TOC
I must apologise in being unable to provide any footage from the TOC debate showcase other than my own. Would this still be fine for you?

HI Avan.
than you so much for the vido.
I fumble a lot. How do I solve this??
Greetings Vatsal!
Fumbling is completely normal when first debating and often times the only thing that really helps solve it is practice. Remember to sort of "plant" your legs into the ground and not move around so much.
Avanexplains, but doesn’t moving around a lot, with hand gestures help with the idea

I will indeed be going to Beijing! I hope to see many of you there in person.

Is it advisable to present points even though I am the third speaker? I was criticized not to.
Ro3 it depends, in normal british parliamentary debate, you arent advised to.
But in wsc debate, you should be able to
you should not. your main points should come at first speaker, and the others at second speaker, but the third speaker is not supposed to give new points. its because even if its a really good point, usually adjudicators wont take note of it as its coming too late to elaborate it and support your case. the third speaker is restricted to giving rebuttals, a comparatively and a summary.
