Dez was getting single covered and still didn't produce. What's the problem? He wasn't cutting it anymore. I keep seeing it was daks fault. How? He has great numbers with all of the other recievers. No excuses. I like Dez he is talented. But he should have been proving his worth.
Dez feels betrayed...and NO one told him nor sat him down and actually told him.. Hey you not pulling your weight. I agree with Shannon they should've told him sooner, but Dez should've been on top of this too. This is business.
Stephanie Nicole they shouldn't have to tell a #1 pick to do his job. Production=a max contract. A massive drop in production=less pay and or being released. Maybe he should've been better at his job. Maybe idiots like you shouldn't blame others for your shortcomings.
The Dorchaidhe....your right Dez should've known; however, obviously the conversations that Dez had with ownership did not include, "what is up with your production". Doesn't seem like it. I said it's both Dez and the Cowboys fault.. Not the Cowboys solely. If you don't agree then that's fine, but I am far from an idiot.
Hinds15.... Haha right. I'm in Dallas so I hear those weekly/biweekly calls that Steven and Jerry make to ESPN. What is said behind closed doors is one thing, what is said in public is another. Even on the radio, they tip toe around the issue, I have never heard them say, "Dez can improve on his routes, etc. " They make excuses for him.
Dez has diminished in production but they took too long to let him go. They did the same thing with Romo. In the end it hurts both parties. Dez has to struggle to find a team this close to the draft and the cowboys didn't get to use that cap space to play in free agency to help the defense.
Early in Sunday’s eventual loss to the Seahawks (Dec 24, 2017), Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant seemed to be complaining (again) about the lack of footballs coming his way. And then the footballs came his way; and he fumbled one and allowed another to slip through his hands for an interception.
Stephen Jones is the guy making these calls in Dallas not really Jerry. Dez also said he wouldn’t take a pay cut earlier this year, then he came back on Twitter saying they never even gave him a chance to talk money.
Dez is unscripted, and that earlier comment was an off the cuff response. I would have said the same thing, and easily later rethought my position. I'm not just exploiting hindsight in saying this. The Cowboys knew they could have played Let's Make A Deal. But the staff wanted him out. And bet your bottom dollar that just a couple of crucial players backed them on this. The COACHES did this one. And Stephen backed THEM.
Justice Thornton Cooper only had 5 drops last season. Dez had 6. I even seen a different list that had Dez at 10 drops for last season. That's not counting the fumble Dez lost against Seattle.
2014 catch no catch. 2015 weeden, Cassel and Moore where his qb. 2016 no Romo again dak comes in and Zeke destroys the league. He missed a few games but still bout 200 yards from a 1000. Last year everybody was bad he had 800 something yards. So since 2014 The cowboys haven't had a good qb
Albert Paiz people keep wondering why they waited so long, if it was because of this or that, its that it took a couple months to convince Jerry to let a player go who he was emotionally attached too. Seeing how he was convinced on passing on Manziel, releasing Romo, and now releasing dez makes me think that Jerry might be finally handing over the reins to Stephen
They didn't "convince" Jerry - they just wore him down. Jerry finally gave up the fight, against a roomful of staff in opposition. Jerry used to get his way all the time, but he's willing to defer to Stephen now. And on this one, Stephen had no desire to keep him. And the staff hate him regardless of how many yards he gets. It's Stephen and the tiny dicked staff on this one, believe that.
He had 6 credited drops. Two were behind him while in stride though he got hands on them. One dropped to the ground when he got crashed into one instant after the ball arrived. So 3 "real" drops - and yes, those 3 were HORRIBLE, and got replayed 1,000 times. I'm just saying. Understand the facts. (P.S. 3 drops would be approximately 70th worst in the league - also, just saying. That stat is misleading and misunderstood)
Its the coaching staff that should be released as well as J.Witten. All this bs about Dez cant run routes. Watch tapes and find out for yourselves. Dez made some mistakes but Dak has VERY POOR field vision and decision making as a quaterback as well as too big of an ego. J.Garrett (and some of his coaching staff) and J.Witten need to go asap. J.Witten is too damn slow. He runs like he has two bad legs and J.Garrett is a poor coach SMDH. Dez will go somewhere else and most likely will shine if given the chance.
Dez is D.O.N.E. They cut him loose to sign with ANYONE. So any team in the same division could sign him. And the Cowboys still let him go. Dez was targeted enough to have an impact and couldn't get it done. Go young Dallas, draft a speedy #1 receiver early and keep it moving.
M.E. you’re partially right. The difference in Romo and Dak is pretty straight forward. Romo throws the ball where you’re supposed to be and anticipates the separation. Dak, as a sophomore mind you, waits until he sees separation and then throws. Often too late especially for a possession type receiver like Dez. Secondly, Dez does not run crisp routes. He rounds them, cuts them and looks for space vs the called route. Watch Brady’s receivers. In most cases they aren’t regarded as elite. What Brady demands is tight, predictable targets so that he can throw the ball to a spot where the receiver is supposed to be.
Skip and Shannon, both guys burned by organizations, a lot of wisdom in this conversation about business, loyalty and what you have to do as a professional.
*word is Cowboys waited to very last minute to release Dez so he doesnt get the chance to get a huge contract. If true, Dez should burn any Cowboys paraphernalia. Thats low down!* 😳
At the end of the day, no matter what positivity the Dallas Cowboys gain from this will be buried from the plague of Jerry Jones as he cares more for a box office Football Team then a Super Bowl winning team during his tenure as owner and beyond as he cant even recognize real talent as was pointed out here.
Jerry wanted to keep Dez and if Jerry really micromanaged the way people accuse him of doing, he would have Dez be the primary target on every down. Jerry paid big money for Deion. Even T.O. And Tony. Huge dollars. Don't say Jerry doesn't want to win. It was the STAFF that did this one. Not Jerry.
For those who simply do not know: Dez is not a fly receiver (although he can run it and still occasionally scores on it occasionally). He is not a separation route runner. He is a possession receiver with 20 inch biceps that wins every time if you just throw it correctly. He is the best run-after-catch player in the league. He is the best slant and dig receiver ever born. So don't talk about "Doesn't get separation." That's not what he is, or was, as he rewrote the Cowboys' record book.
Why are all of these cowboy fanboys talking about the cowboys are stupid for releasing dez yall still have sean Lee he can run routes and get open ways dez can't
i think it was a good move to save cap but the timing was garbage they should've done it at the beginning of free agency or at the end of the draft not in the middle where the paint is really dry because now everyone knows we need a wide receiver and free agency is slim now
Don't people realize that the cowboys still have plenty of time before they had to release him. Everyone's saying they waited too long and they could of waited longer.
I’m super impressed that the Cowboys lured Stan Lee out of retirement to play wide receiver for them! Put him in the slot and watch him rack up the touchdowns 🏈
Dez wasn't going to last long in Dallas without Tony Romo as his QB. His three declining straight seasons all had one thing in common. No Tony Romo because unfortunately Romo couldn't stay healthy. I also don't think Dak is the answer. He had an amazing rookie season, but I don't see him regaining that level of play again
mukathefreak Romo last full season was 2014. Dez had 16 touchdowns. Better than anybody in the league. Antonio Brown can't do that. Julio Jones can't do that. Odell cant either. Nelson can't do that. Only Romo and dez could do that. Dez was the best receiver in the nfl with romo
FINALLY!! The Jones’s make an off-season move! Thank you for your service Dez, but it's time. The Cowboys aren't trying to build a team around Dez, they're trying to build one around their QB. So if the pieces aren't working together, get rid of it and get a new piece that fits.
People talk alot about Sean Lee but they don’t understand that he carries the defense. Man can have 20+ solo tackles a game. Without Sean Lee the defense isn’t so good.
Dak's rookie year, they went 3-0 without Dez. The beat the 49ers, Bengals (at the time, a top-10 defense) and annihilated the Packers on their own field. Dak's totals: 59-83, 71%, 719 yds, 6 TD, 1 INT, 117 rating while throwing to 7 different receivers on the team (doesn't include RB's).
This is why you never mix business with pleasure. The minute they asked him to take a pay cut he should of took it and proved his self or stood his ground like he did by turning it down but also asking to be released should of been done a long time ago. Dez is a grown man and Jerry is a business man. Jerry knew all along he was going to cut Dez because of no production and cap. People like Tom Brady do not need father figures because every time he plays he produces and has plenty of rings to prove so but Dez on the other hand was using Jerry as a DAD instead of a owner who has to make business moves based on production.
Not a Cowboy or Dez Bryant fan at all, but Jerry Jones did do him dirty by not releasing him earlier. When Green Bay released Jordy Nelson, they did right by him by releasing him before free agency started and gave him a chance to choose where Jordy felt was a good fit. Dez doesn’t have that commodity
Kevin Martin Most it isn’t lol. it’s not daks fault for holding on to dez as long as the cowboys did. Probably should’ve let him go a little sooner for one thing.
its funny because people loved dak in his first year and his second year he had the same stats or very similar with more touchdowns and more interceptions but if you look up the int 7 or 8 of those are tips from the cowboys recievers hitting right in their hands. so im finding hard to figure out why people think he is worse if anything he was better. has similar or better stats and had a way worse line, no beast zeke, and the recieving core was just not what it was. people loved him then when he produces more touchdowns and has the same percantage and same yards per game how did people start hating him
I agree Skip "It's not church football". I can't believe I just agreed with Skip, wow. My Daddy always said "Your plight in life is no one else's plight" Dez take care of self first.
Skip, MASTER OF STATISTICS: Dez absolutely did not lead the league in drops. Look it up. I'm shocked, Skip, you, of all people. You're largely way on point, and brilliant, but how did that slip in? Do you know how many will repeat that now??
Why do you think the Cowboys released Dez Bryant?
Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED
Maybe because he can't catch a ball properly
Because he is outdated
Dez was getting single covered and still didn't produce. What's the problem? He wasn't cutting it anymore. I keep seeing it was daks fault. How? He has great numbers with all of the other recievers. No excuses. I like Dez he is talented. But he should have been proving his worth.
I really don't care. It's not like he was getting 1300 yards each of the last three years.
low production
Shannon’s outfit on FLEEK
True.
He's the sharpest dress brother in tv aside from that Van Jones dude
it always is lol
Hieu Ho ...wtf is the meaning of “FLEEK?” Cool? Sick? Nice? Etc...etc....just never heard Fleek before.
Britt Johnson ...what does “fleek,” mean?
It's okay they can just put Sean Lee at WR.
Angel Tirado ikr
Angel Tirado W
Facts
And QB. At the same time.
Just put him in the slot, Sean Lee's 40 is the same of Anquan Boldin's lol.
Stephanie Nicole It's 2018 everybody is a keyboard gangsta
The Dorchaidhe Why you gotta disrespect her though
Hinds15.... Haha right. I'm in Dallas so I hear those weekly/biweekly calls that Steven and Jerry make to ESPN. What is said behind closed doors is one thing, what is said in public is another. Fr they stopped being overused
Agreed
Dez has diminished in production but they took too long to let him go. They did the same thing with Romo. In the end it hurts both parties. Dez has to struggle to find a team this close to the draft and the cowboys didn't get to use that cap space to play in free agency to help the defense.
I’ll play WR
The joke is stale
Cowboys nation someone’s salty they lost poor little Dez.
Lmao
Nekaneka15 right like they didn’t start it
Lee ain't going to play but 3 games anyway

Lmaoooo y’all seen how he touched his nose when mentioning Irvin smh 😂😂

Stephen Jones is the guy making these calls in Dallas not really Jerry. Dez also said he wouldn’t take a pay cut earlier this year, then he came back on Twitter saying they never even gave him a chance to talk money.

Dak was the reason Dez wasn't producing as much. With a healthy Tony Romo, Dez had an incredible season.
Pswizzle13 I guess it was Dak's fault that Dez led the league in dropped passes last season to right? U sound real stupid.
Jacob Burroughs Cooper led the league in drops lol and I’m a raiders fan
Justice Thornton Cooper only had 5 drops last season. Dez had 6. I even seen a different list that had Dez at 10 drops for last season. That's not counting the fumble Dez lost against Seattle.
Tony Romo threw Dez jump balls. That's all Dez knows how to do. He can't run routes. It's Dez's fault he didn't know how to catch any other passes.
Pswizzle13 and there's the truth...
Tfw I'm here before the thirsty Joy comments...
Souradeep Goswami qesu
What Shannon Sharpe's late grand-dad said around 5:47-5:50 is absolutely true.
My dad said the same thing, once then I was a kid & I agree...
2014 catch no catch. 2015 weeden, Cassel and Moore where his qb. 2016 no Romo again dak comes in and Zeke destroys the league. He missed a few games but still bout 200 yards from a 1000. Last year everybody was bad he had 800 something yards. So since 2014 The cowboys haven't had a good qb
when talking about Irvin, skip sniffed and rubbed his nose 4:13.
ISSsm64 lol ikr
Coke boy
Yeah but who doesn't know that?
Timo its like he did that unconsciously though, Skip probably did a few lines with him back in the day
ISSsm64 lol
Shannon went to Baltimore, and picked up where he left off in Denver. Dez need to suck it up, and get to work.
Dallas doesn’t care if he gets paid they care who pays him. They want him out of the division and preferably out of the conference
Sean Lee and I can carry them
Ben Simmons stay in ur lane ben this is foozeball we talkin bout
Lee ain't going to play but 3 games anyway
Sean Lee Has The Soul Stone In Avengers Infinity War.
Rick Estrada lmao
Rick Estrada 😂😂😂
😩😆🤣 one of the SL comments
"You just going out for there for the coin toss... that's nothing"... lmao!!!
Sean Lee would’ve handled this with much more class
Mike Hunt is the Saltiest Jerry Jones didn't handle the situation with class...he should've told him sooner instead of waiting until the last minute
King Davis wtf, everybody already knew Dez was gonna be cut. It's all over sports news. He knew. Stop with the stupid talk. Dez is trash.
The GOAT SEAN LEE would never get cut.
The answer is simple, it just took this long to convince Jerry to let dez go
Cesar Lamas exactly! Why is that so hard for people to understand. It was a hard decision for him but he made it
Albert Paiz people keep wondering why they waited so long, if it was because of this or that, its that it took a couple months to convince Jerry to let a player go who he was emotionally attached too. Bill Woo x
Dez will retire as a Cowboy. He'll do that 1 day contract. Jerry loves Dez.
If Dez would of caught all his dropped balls, he would of had a 1000 yard season. Quit blaming it on Dak
He had 6 credited drops. Two were behind him while in stride though he got hands on them. One dropped to the ground when he got crashed into one instant after the ball arrived. Pacers in 6... I mean Dez should stay in the division so he can play the cowboys
Skip and Shannon, both guys burned by organizations, a lot of wisdom in this conversation about business, loyalty and what you have to do as a professional.
Sammy Watkins is a scrub!
Jason Rickman How?
*word is Cowboys waited to very last minute to release Dez so he doesnt get the chance to get a huge contract. If true, Dez should burn any Cowboys paraphernalia. Thats low down!* 😳
im not going to lie i legit cried for a second ! wheres my cowboys nation at?
They did Dez cold... point blank
Go to Green Bay and get the last laugh......
At the end of the day, no matter what positivity the Dallas Cowboys gain from this will be buried from the plague of Jerry Jones as he cares more for a box office Football Team then a Super Bowl winning team during his tenure as owner and beyond as he cant even recognize real talent as was pointed out here.

“If I worry about getting back at people, how do I get ahead of them”
Weird how dez is wearing a celtics hat in the interview...he tryna make a call to pats
Sean Lee is a monster you haters. Dude is like the QB for the defense and will make ahella defense Coord after football
For those who simply do not know: Dez is not a fly receiver (although he can run it and still occasionally scores on it occasionally). He is not a separation route runner. Can someone explain the Sean lee jokes please ?
Love you guys
ama start writting down all of Shannons Grandma and Grandpa's Advices! lots of knowledge in them
I wonder if there were any tears shed during the meeting with Jerry? Good luck to Dez. One of my favorite players this generation.
its a fact that Garrett wanted to keep him and, also was the last one on the staff to come around to the groups thinking.
Love the DJ Quik analogy if it don't make dollars it don't make sense
i think it was a good move to save cap but the timing was garbage they should've done it at the beginning of free agency or at the end of the draft not in the middle where the paint is really dry because now everyone knows we need a wide receiver and free agency is slim now
Dez should go to Miami. They need a wide receiver and he would love playing in a city like that
Dez was lowkey the first Antonio Brown
Don't people realize that the cowboys still have plenty of time before they had to release him. Everyone's saying they waited too long and they could of waited longer.
sean lee jokes stopped being funny a while ago y'all
I honesty don't understand how it became funny in the first place
lol true, i found some funny like depending on the topic but at this point they have flooded the comments and originality is out the window
howdy partner
Sean Lee makes America Great. 😄😄
Ryan Bradshaw Sean Lee
Joy waited the whole time and then spoke. She didn't interrupt them. Very classy.
I’m super impressed that the Cowboys lured Stan Lee out of retirement to play wide receiver for them! Put him in the slot and watch him rack up the touchdowns 🏈
Sean Lee and chuck Norris next president campaign. lol
The good ol’ days of waking up to Shannon & Skip!
WOW, I can watch Skip and Shannon again, because they're talking about sports not politics.
What did Dez say about Jason Witten?
Shannon...not everyone has management skills. This is the first time I’ve agreed with you.
Phew luckily they haven't released Sean Lee. The guy was carrying that team
😂😂😂
They might as well rename this show to the “Dallas Cowboys, LeBron James, and New England Patriots show” lol
Wife and I just started watching. Made a bet Sean Lee will come up. I feel confident.
Shannon's grandma and grandpa are his dictionary
Dez wasn't going to last long in Dallas without Tony Romo as his QB. His three declining straight seasons all had one thing in common. No Tony Romo because unfortunately Romo couldn't stay healthy. I also don't think Dak is the answer. He had an amazing rookie season, but I don't see him regaining that level of play again

People talk alot about Sean Lee but they don’t understand that he carries the defense. Man can have 20+ solo tackles a game. Without Sean Lee the defense isn’t so good.
What about Dez signing with the Seahawks beside Baldwin 89 & 88.
dez might end up in Seattle or Carolina
Dak's rookie year, they went 3-0 without Dez. The beat the 49ers, Bengals (at the time, a top-10 defense) and annihilated the Packers on their own field. Dak's totals: 59-83, 71%, 719 yds, 6 TD, 1 INT, 117 rating while throwing to 7 different receivers on the team (doesn't include RB's).
take a shot every time shannon says skip!
Sean lee out week 1 with a broken ankle. lol
I am not a cowboy's fan but Tony Romo was Dez Bryant's qb. I don't think Dez and Dak were ever on the same page. Outsider looking in.
This is why you never mix business with pleasure. The minute they asked him to take a pay cut he should of took it and proved his self or stood his ground like he did by turning it down but also asking to be released should of been done a long time ago. When Green Bay released Jordy Nelson, they did right by him by releasing him before free agency started and gave him a chance to choose where Jordy felt was a good fit. Dez doesn’t have that commodity
Skip is constantly “almost” right and then, he says, something dumb.
"This isnt Church" LOL
I love shannons suits
Seems like the playoff contenders are taking more time to release players than normal.
I been saying it for yrs dez is and was not ever a elite wide receiver he’s never been in the Julio Jones AJ green de Andre Hopkins
Dez didn’t see it coming because he truly wanted to be a Cowboy for life. Not his fault Dak couldn’t throw him a decent pass
So part of this isn’t dak fault?
Kevin Martin Most it isn’t lol. it’s not daks fault for holding on to dez as long as the cowboys did. Probably should’ve let him go a little sooner for one thing.
I respect your comment👏🏾
a big part of it is Daks fault. But Dez has to move on at this point
its funny because people loved dak in his first year and his second year he had the same stats or very similar with more touchdowns and more interceptions but if you look up the int 7 or 8 of those are tips from the cowboys recievers hitting right in their hands. so im finding hard to figure out why people think he is worse if anything he was better. has similar or better stats and had a way worse line, no beast zeke, and the recieving core was just not what it was. people loved him then when he produces more touchdowns and has the same percantage and same yards per game how did people start hating him
I’m not hating on dak I been liking him since college 🤷🏾♂️ from a saints fan(which is me) to a cowboys fan it’s not all on dez
Where's my popcorn at!?
Yeah I’ve only been waiting since Dez got cut for them to react to this 😡
Dez just go to Green Bay ! You won’t drop the ball with our Qb 💯
GCASTILLO He still won't be able to run routes or separate from anybody plus some of those drops hit him right in his hands that's his fault
GCASTILLO you have no money to pay him, besides that Dez wants to win. Green Bay is a 3rd place in the North team
Between Sean Lee and people being fiends for Joy, I don’t know what’s worse.
Lol Skip finally speakin facts, Dez was a garret guy.
If it doesn’t make dollars it doesn’t make sense. I’m going to use that
Even though I don’t like Dez like that but they did him dirty releasing him so late.
Come to Houston you can play opposite of Deandre Hopkins and play with a QB that spreads the ball around and isn't afraid of going down the field.
I agree Skip "It's not church football". I can't believe I just agreed with Skip, wow. My Daddy always said "Your plight in life is no one else's plight" Dez take care of self first.
Thank goodness it wasn’t Sean Lee they released...that would have been chaos
Skip Baseless knows that Brice Butler is a slot receiver. Dez is an outside receiver and thus they don't play the same position.
Dez will get his ring before Dallas Cowboys guaranteed!!!!!!!!!!!
Now the Cowboys are gonna run the ball until the wheels fall off
I wanna see dez destroy the Cowboys. From Cowboys fan since 1992
Skip, MASTER OF STATISTICS: Dez absolutely did not lead the league in drops. Look it up. I'm shocked, Skip, you, of all people.
You're largely way on point, and brilliant, but how did that slip in? Do you know how many will repeat that now??
Sean Lee>>>>lechoke and KD
Come to Oakland Dez we'll get the ball to ya
The cowboys need a coach and a quarterback...
IT WAS STILL A CATCHHHHHH
