About the Leaning Tower - please get off the main path & come to Ząbkowice Śląskie/Dolny Śląsk. We have here a real Leaning Tower. Also my town was used to named Frankenstein and it was an inspiration for Mary Shelley's novel. In 1606 grave diggers of Frankenstein were making poison out of corpses and caused a plague. How cool is that? 😁

@@TwoMadExplorers That is why I wrote to you earlier that Toruń is worth visiting. An interesting fact is that Toruń was not destroyed during World War II because it is very fortified. Each building looks like it used to be. You can feel the gothic style of the buildings. And this is a rarity in the case of Polish cities.
Thank you for visiting my city. 40 km further you have Bydgoszcz. The city is also worth visiting.

A lovely travel vlog! Toruń is beautiful and really worth visiting and we are happy you have been to Toruń and you can show us the most attractive places in that pretty city - Poland's Gingerbread Capital. We enjoyed visiting Toruń in the past and we have enjoyed Toruń with you tonight, (we) thank you - dziękujemy! Warmest wishes and greetings from Warsaw, Paweł (Paul) and Gosia 🌞 🧡 🌤 🌹 ⛱ 🌅 🧡 😊 🌞 🌟 🍀 🇵🇱 🏝 🏖 🌅 🧡 💙 Go to the Hel Peninsula if you can (when you are in Toruń, the Tri-city: Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia is only 150 km away, you can get to Gdynia by train in 3 hours), it is really amazing and unique and worth visiting, especially by train or you can reach Hel by boat from Gdynia and then go by train back to Gdynia visiting Jurata, Jastarnia, Kuźnica and Chałupy on the way to Gdynia. By the way, you also have one of the coolest tower with splendid views in Gdańsk (the Cathedral Tower viewpoint), and the view from Kamienna Góra in Gdynia is also breathtaking. There are so plenty of things to see and do in the North of Poland, too. Good luck!

what a lifestyle, to travel & explore so much. makes me wonder how I’d do it. I don’t know if you two had much experience in long distance running, but when I travel, that’s a great way to explore a new place. but I must say, there’s a way to cultivate a running habit that makes running fun & peaceful (as opposed to some urgent push for fitness, measuring your progress, etc). an hour-long run can feel like an hour-long walk. I think I’d probably scope out parts of the town with ‘exploratory runs’ (I don’t mean eating something questionable and checking out the available toilets). yes, these ‘exploratory jogs’ would be so great. I find that when I run, it opens my heart, so everything I see makes more of an emotional impression, and I am more receptive to beauty.

BTW you must visit one of Manekin resaurants in Torun (there are three, two in old city). They are specialised in pancakes or in Polish naleśniki (few dozen variations) but it is one of the epic food places in Torun. I recommend visit Manekin on Wysoka street. On the corner of Wysoka street and Prosta street is also Picollo pizzeria. Ok it is not really pizzeria, they sell just one kind of very special "Polish pizza" but it is also very unique place for Toruń. You must try and check it.

If you are interested in art, there is big modern art gallery here in Toruń! It is callsed CSW - Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej, Znaki Czasu (Centre of Modern Art). The exhibitions there change all the time, and now there are great artworks of famous polish artists such as Wojciech Fangor as well as astists from other countries too! I really recommend going there, all of the exhibitions that are there are worth seeing! Also the building itself is beatiful and there is a little cafe and a cinema on the inside as well. This gallery is very close to the old town, like a 5min walk from the old town hall. :)

Even more I must add, if you have some spare time, there is town near by Toruń called Golub Dobrzyń, and now at the castle in this town there is big international medival knight tournament (46. Międzynarodowy Turniej Rycerski)! It is big event that is held once every year where people from different countries dressed in medival knight clothes fight in different challanges. There is some good food too. This event started today (01.07) and will be held till Sunday (03.07), if you would be interested I could translate for you more info about this event"s program. :)

Mentzen Pub was founded by quite popular right-wing politician of anti-system party - Sławomir Mentzen. His main business is a tax advisory company which helps enterpreneurs and free-lancers to pay as lowest taxes as possible. He laughs that polish taxing system is stupid and overcomplicated, and taxes are too high, but thanks to that he makes a lot of money and his business grow really fast 😄

I've got a question - why do you (and other English speakers) put the accent in the name of the city on "u" instead of "o" (like we do)? Is there any difficulty?

I LIKE YOUR CHANNEL BUT I HAVE A FEW ADVICE. You talk too much about history and it's boring, need to scroll. INTERESTING FOR US IS HOW YOU RECEIVE THE DATA OF THE PLACE, WHAT YOU LIKE AND WHAT IS WEIRD FOR YOU ABOUT OUR CULTURE? THE FACTS FROM ENCYCLOPEDIA ARE BORING BUT YOU ARE INTERESTING. HAVE A NICE TOUR IN POLAND. BEST WISHES.

Na samym szczycie wieży ratuszowej jest metalowa ( miedziana ) chorągiewka z herbem miasta. To rekonstrukcja starej orginalnej.
Tę nową w 1966 roku wykonał mój ojciec Rajmund Winiarski, artysta metaloplastyk który miał swoją pracownię przy ul.Krzyżackiej 4
( obecnie jest to ul. Ślusarska 4 )
At the very top of the city hall tower is a metal ( copper ) flag with the
the city's coat of arms. It is a reconstruction of the old original one.
This new one was made in 1966 by my father Rajmund Winiarski, a metalwork artist who had his studio at 4 Krzyżacka Street.
( now it is 4 Slusarska Street )
