They are no longer giving you gold for premium tanks you already have when you win one of these in a chest. They're giving you silver! Stop buying these things
This awful Winterfest was the icing on the cake of chaos that has been surrounding this game over the last two and half months, and it's VERY troubling. The Nightstalker. The re-worked and pretty much mega-buffed Grom (which NEVER needed to be touched). The Wiesel Mk. 1. The Vigilante. And now, the removal of our standard Warchests (which were perfectly fine) and the addition of predatory lootboxes from PC, plus a stupid new currency (snowballs) that take FOREVER to grind. And now we're starting to have premium tanks completely locked behind lootboxes with pretty much no guaranteed ways of getting them. All of this absolutely SCREAMS the opening stages of a possible "end-game" plan by the Devs, as they may be preparing to shut this game down for good. I mean, WHY would they go the "predatory" route with Winterfest all of a sudden, especially for the holidays? Could they be testing a more exploitative and unfair format for Seasons down the road? This Winterfest event/Season was CLEARLY aimed at the mindless noobs and window-licking whales, NOT the game's dedicated players. I have a really bad feeling we're witnessing the beginning of the end of WoT Console (I mean, let's face it, the beginning of the end started with Mercenaries and Update 6.0) but I've seen other multiplayer games suddenly change gears and go all predatory on its playerbase before eventually going under completely a short time later. I am very, VERY worried. This is going to be the first Christmas season in nearly a decade that I will not be playing this game. I don't know if I'll even play again, as the Vigilante and this shockingly exploitative Winterfest event were the final straw for me. What a shame.
Like you I get gold by buying the Private warchests as I almost always make gold profit on these due to duplicates. So agree quite annoying they have disappeared. I'm going to just work the snowball op to get the Object. The new Kamfpanzer can stay behind their mystic chest paywall. They' ll no doubt put it in the store or give it away in an earn op in a years time. Not worth the outlay for Fomo IMO. Again, not worried about the 9 skill Ice Queen for the outlay it potentially costs. Though I did get the three skill one in todays free Yule warchest!!👍
Supposedly you only get gold refunds for tanks found in original war chests that are bought with actual money. Chests bought with gold will refund you silver only for a tank you own already.
If you are a WW2 player, you'd likely end up with all the Cold War tanks you will never play before you get to the new tier 10 WW2 tank. That's a metric crapton of useless drops you are paying for. Even if you could afford it, you think they won't give it away in a year? Or make it a season pass tank? Don't fall for it. :o)
I know there’s a logical argument that we could construct for saving the game for the players and that makes very good business sense for Wargaming. Both goals can be achieved. But could we really get an audience of the decisionmakers at Wargaming and would they listen to us?
unless you change your region and pay in a different currency then you pay half that. that's how I got my new tier 10 German yeti heavy tank. otherwise I wouldn't get it if I had to pay full price lol
@basco0717 pricing, based upon your economic standing, for instance, Portugal's a little bit cheaper. Russia also has different pricing. I can't remember what it's called, but steam does the same thing. Regional pricing is what you can look up

No one should buy any War Chests! They have broken this aspect of their game. It's a scam. The only way to make them change this is not to buy them.
