I think why their music is so unique really boils down to a couple things.. 1 - Every song is like a story, instead of a story being *told*, it’s *sung*. So from self-titled every song had a different and unique story, or a message, and I assume Tyler’s songwriting approach is a linear approach from thinking about the theme and the story/message, THEN producing the music & lyric writing. 2 - Tyler back then (RAB/Vessel Era) had hands on a lot of electronic samples/loops from Logic Pro (software to produce music) and figured instead of the traditional way of just using guitars and pads, decided to use electronic sounds and instruments and drums to stand out. Bringing me to point 3 3 - TØP is probably best defined as rock band with emphasis on digital themes and electronic sounds, he mainly used those type of sounds to compensate for the lack of band members during the regional at best era since it was only him and Josh. 3.1 - The use of energy and hype in most of their music (Ode to sleep, HOTY, heavydirtysoul, jumpsuit, guns for hands, etc) Definitely do make it feel like electronic rock (the tøp way), instead of the 90% of bands that just stick to the boring monotonous way. 3.2 - so yea I guess the workaround of using electronic sounds and a very creative mindset helped shape twenty one pilots into inventors of an UNIDENTIFIABLE and VERY UNIQUE genre!!! Their new music has definitely matured away from that electronic-y sound and more into raw creativity (still with some digital sound influences). No idea why I just wrote an essay on this 😭😭😭🙏 but here ya go.. Lol.
As a mama, I think he as a dad was being honest and real. I don't think Tyler can not be truthful and real 😂 it's also the third kid so I am sure they are over all the quiet.
Wanna say - I think Josh did a great job directing Backslide... theres something really visceral about the execution..... trying to cycle through what feels like a battering wind.... so good!
Stryker is one of the best interviewers ever. Whether it’s with Mike Shinoda, Davey Havok, or TØP? His level of investment and willingness to detour rather than run down a bullet point list always makes for great experiences 👏 🤝
In the words of Shoresy, SET THE TONE BOYS and boy did they. No skips album. This record came at an interesting time for me as well. The nods towards addiction being released right after I got my 5 year tag at NA and right before I get certified as a peer recovery coach. It feels to be such a privilege to grow up with the members of this band. Can’t say enough but there’s only so many characters in a comment.

@@TunaonToastwithStryker Well having Tyler name his kid after you, is even better than being an extra in one of their videos 🤣. This was a great interview! I love that you've loved these guys as long as I have. An amazing couple of guys from Ohio! ❤💛
@@seanp25I was joking…I believe Stryker is Tyler’s mom’s maiden name and Stryker Joseph Music their publishing company. Funny tho if the DJ were to believe Tyler/Jenna named the baby after him 😉 Cool name anyway!
