My thoughts:
Diana sings about how she looks into her mother's eyes for the first time (first verse from the mother's point of view)
Verse 2, from Diana's point of view: What her mother saw in Diana's eyes, the 'mistrustful wolfling girl': search for love, great sadness, fear and chaos (crystal clear and swelling waves become cloudy, thick as tar)
The whisper says (repeated): Thoughts are clear. This dawn is for you. Sunset is for you. The horizon is already close. The heart is pure. Take a step. God is very close. Look at me. Thoughts do not sleep. The sun is clear. The heart is pure. Midnight is approaching. Look at me
... and in the 3rd verse: you hear only Diana and her ukulele - loose, calm, safe... the bad memories of her childhood are slowly fade away.
Since I was told that in Russian the verb in the past tense has a gender specification (I should have been more careful at school but I hated grammar)... the story could also look like this: Diana has met a young man who promises her heaven in the 1st verse...
In the second stanza: Diana likes him and she hears his words (whispers), but can't get involved with him, the mistrust is too deep and causes doubt and chaos...
3rd verse: She is left alone and plays her ukulele... only a few tears and faded memories remain.

Wonderful reaction! Listening to this, I felt the lyrics to be very specific to Diana's life, but also touching on some universal truths.
The first stanza (with its soothing blues and whites) is Diana's adoptive mother (Irina Ponik) saying look into my eyes and find unconditional love, support, and safety.
The 2nd stanza (with more ominous oranges and reds) is what Irina saw in Diana as an orphan - the hurt, frightened, wolfing girl.
Finally, in the stripped down final verse with just Diana and her ukulele, there are still lingering dreams of her frightful past which can't be escaped (she has commented on this in interviews).
Diana and her mom have such a deep love for each other it is truly touching. Irina has devoted her life to supporting Diana's dreams.
