Xmax is the best value and with the digital dash is the one to beat but the ergonomics don’t work for all. I wanted to love the Xmax but the Burgman 400 just sits a tad lower and has a bit more legroom to stretch out. Even though it’s outdated still a great scoot and will probably be my next one.
Xmax 300 is indeed a great scoot, not having the Forza 350 in the US means it really has little competition. The Burgman is heavier and much older tech. Over the pond the Forza is cheaper than both and you can also throw in the ADV 350 which is possibly better still. Scoots in EU outsell motorbikes every year, even the UK which seems to love them less.
@@slowridersmotovlog201- after watching hundreds of hours of videos about Americans and Canadians retiring to Southeast Asia - and hearing so many people, who are so different, talk about the differences between Western and Southeast Asian culture - I would conclude that the reason scooters are not more popular in the US is ego … our vehicles are part of what makes up our “social credibility.” If you own a big, powerful Harley, you’re a bad-a$$. I just took possession of the 2024. I sent out emails to the state's dealerships and the next day was contacted to be told that a 2024 had just come in on the other side of the state. Told them I'd be down the next day as it was obvious these things weren't going to be readily available. $8,000 out the door. I don't even have my endorsement yet (just started the process) but knew I better snatch this up while the getting was good.
Great video -- thanks for it! What year is the XMax in this video? What do you think of this one with the analog dials compared to the all digital dash on the 2024 you reviewed in another video? Are there other differences besides the dash that having preferring one over the other? Asking, as I'm considering an earlier 2022 model vs the 2024. I'm leaning on the former since it's low mileage and the latter has nearly 1,000 in new vehicle dealer fees tacked on.
You can add the BMW C400 GT and the Kymco X-Town 300 & maybe the AK 550 (I dunno, the engine size kind of puts this one in a class of it's own) to the competition list. I'd still choose my XMax over all of them. Every ride this bike impresses me.
Is it reliable though? Will it last? Will it have problems like the Burgman 650? Is it more reliable than the X-town 300i? I'm tryin to decide between Xmax 300 and X-town 300i.
I could not find an Xmax when I settled for the Yamaha Smax. I paid $4k with it under 1k miles. 155cc easily does 65-70 mph. I love the Smax and so far I have put 10k miles on it in 2 years.
Thanks Dan... I agree with your assessment. The Xmax covers it for allot less. I really love your area. Your images are just so quaint and lovely. Never a disappointment. Gord

I'm in Canada and received my '24 XMAX one week ago that I had ordered in late March. Canadian model only comes in Raven Black with blue wheels and is otherwise identical to the US model with the double instrumentation. I'm 5'-6 and the seat is too high for me and hard. In fact, it is higher than other bikes I had that had a similar stated seat height, including a Burgman 650. Fortunately, it is light and has the typical low center of gravity of a scooter. I put the windshield in the highest of 2 positions to reduce turbulence at helmet level and put the rear shocks at the softest setting (I'm 160 pounds ready to ride). The proximity key is too much of a good thing and asks you to fiddle with the controller button for everything. Putting a key in the ignition is far simpler. The engine works well and is smooth and silent. In less than half a tank, I'm averaging 3.0L/100 km or 78 MPG US.
