Never seen another forward like him considering his stature and pace with his finishing ability. Honestly 700 goals total for his career is the minimum I expect for him
Funny how a lot of these hard shoulder barges are meant to be legal, but get pulled up as fouls, meanwhile everyone pulls each others shirts and smacks each other going for headers, and often even push with the hands when going for balls. And those dont get called for fouls lol
Shoulder to the back: big no-no. If you haven't been hit with one of those, you have no idea how much they hurt. Most of the ones called in this vid were the aforementioned illegal ones. Shirt pulls are borderline calls, they are illegal but it is impossible to call every single one, no team would finish 11v11 (it would more likely to be 5v5 🙂) but when thungs like Trossard's second yellow are questioned, shirt pulls are really no big deal. The flailing arm situation is a bit more interesting, VAR is supposed to filter out the accidental ones from deliberate punches, but it tends to do nothing with them. Got elbowed a few times myself as well, it's a real treat for your equilibrium and jawline unless you get concussed in which case you might forget it happened altogether.
So should he get freekick every time the defenders hold him him with all their power and force? He just gives back and the ref sees that. That's fair right?
@@Herbalattraction115 let's not get carried away, he is one of the most physically dominant player in the world right now, this draws a lot of attention from defenders. He's leaning into it too (ie. draws physicality to himself by physically bullying the defence) which is fine, he has to play to his strengths. But fouls should be called consistently, this is where the modern game poses a challenge, the speed and intricacy with which each team plays is mind boggling. Back in the day, matches were brutal but honest, refs were able to see and act on each foul because the game was slow and very little was happening off ball. Yes, a lot more was allowed on the field but this was because of the old mentality from both coaches/teams and refs: hug the ball too much, you'll get punished for it (it's a team play after all) hence why Pele, Maradona and the likes of them were served an awful lot of brutal fouls. Nowadays players are protected much better, their injuries stem most of them time from fatigue - which is becoming a big issue - and refs are way more consistent too than ever before. It's just that teams are so close to each other in terms of tactics/strategies and general play ability that margins have closed (the gap between small teams and big teams has closed in significantly) so 1-2 ref calls can make all the difference in a match, this is new (relatively) to the game as well hence why they're trying everything (VAR, advanced ref training, more refs, rule changes, etc) to keep up with the pace and complexity of football.
@@tsirke808 And I agree with that. But if Defenders are allowed to touch, push and pull him, then he's allowed to give exactly that back. And I don't think alot of people notice how much the defenders are on him when the game is on. And often they're 2 or 3 v 1. Now, there's alot of grey areas in football. Can you push, pull, trip players? No. Does it happen multiple times in every game? Yes. So the ref has to have some sort wiggleroom in the rules, that protects Haaland aswell. And tbh, I get why he's angry. The ref allowed Arsenal players to flop to the ground, hide the ball, time waist every 3rd minute, Arsenals physio ran onto to pitch while the game was on. And that's not even adding the physical presence Gabriel and Saliba was. I'd get angry too ngl Imo we need to keep the competitive game football is alive. @@Herbalattraction115 football is a contact sport indeed, otherwise we wouldn't have slide tackles in it. There's always room for improvement, but he defo does not need more protection. Btw, I think you're building on the frustration of the recent Arsenal game a bit too much, to be fair, the Gunners deserved the point (maybe even more) even if their strategy was ugly.
